Lovely place and people

Lovely place, the shared areas are really nice (kitchen, living room, bar, dining room, yard) and the people who work here are all really nice and happy to help The street is quiet

It would be perfect with better curtains or shutters not to be woken up by the sunlight The location is not in the city centre but still good, around 15mins far from the train station and the city centre by foot There may be a problem with the radiator in the bathroom that was on and really hot while it was 25 degrees outside and we couldn't turn it off not to waste the energy

An excellent option when visiting York

Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location, only a 15 minute walk from the centre of York. Clean and welcoming room (we opted for a private double room) with large fan, which was much needed and appreciated in this heatwave.

Kitchen,location and friendliness of staff

Toilet wasn't clean and toilet seat was blocked. We had to go downstairs for main toilet when we paid for onsuite. It was reported but no one fixed it

Good place to stay as traveller

The location and neighbourhood was really silent, but only 15 minutes walk away from the York Minster. The staff was super friendly. The rooms are spaceous and the have a big citchen, a cozy living room, a social room and even a bar. I could leave my backpack in the morning to check-in later and it was not a problem. The beds and showers were clean. Unfortunately I was just there for one night but next time I will stay longer and I already know it will be this hostel.

A good place to stay in York

The staff here r all very nice.They offer an early check in and let me stay in the common area after checking out.The bedroom and toilet r clean and tidy.The kitchen is big enough to cook even when it’s crowded.

If the bed could have curtains,it would be perfect.

Very good cost-benefit; highly recommend this hostel.

The location of the hostel is great. They have a nice lounge where ou can relax while enjoying movies or sports, and they also have a bar - good for socializing and meeting new people, especially if you are traveling alone.

It was okay for a short stay

near the railway station nice and helpful staff

not cleaned properly - found rubbish behind the side table Limited places to hang towel water turns hot and cold suddenly there was a bee in the room when we checked in (but the staff helped us immediately) The bed is quite hard but it is okay for 1 night

The hostel fully met our expectation in regards to the value for money, it was quiet and the private room had the relevant privacy. Staff was really friendly and supportive. We would book it again.

Excellent place, will book again!

Astor exceeded my expectation for a hostel. It is quiet and organized, the staff super friendly, and the guests all seem very polite. The location is really convenient, close to the train station and has bus stops right outside the property (bus leads straight to city center). I would definitely book it again.

The only problem is with unstable water temperature when showering. The water can change from super cold to burning hot in one second. It is probably worse because I stayed on the highest floor. I hope it can be fixed.

First of all, it's a great location. And the staff was very great, Matt helped us with the checking in and was very cheerful. The hostel was well maintained, clean and value for money. I would definitely recommend for any one come for short or long stays in york.

The staff were really friendly and all the facilities you need are there

The windows in our room rattled rather badly when it rained, and we were often woken up by other guests being noisy in the corridor. Bathroom walls could have been cleaner.

I lost me Apple iPods. One of the staff found them when stripping the bed . When I went back to them

The staff should keep lost property safe . They found my Apple iPods but lost them again . Someone took them from the reception. Please investigate.

Nightmare from hell

Nothing I likes was bad

One pillow for bed ,mattress very hard didn't get good night sleep people in room chatting ,I left at 6.30am in the morning was awful .
