We did a night before Borobudur near the temple itself to avoid a day of 'tours' and travelling to see the temple, and it was a great decision because of our stay at Efata. Pre-stay communication was very useful as we would have otherwise not known we would have to pre-book tickets. On arrival, the family were incredibly kind and hospitable with lots of recommendations about what to do. Good room and great value for money. Super tasty breakfast too. Overall, a fantastic stay with a lovely local family. Cannot recommend enough!

Communication with the hostess was very easy. They helped us a lot wherever we needed. Breakfast was incredible and plentiful and they adapted it for our schedule. We want to emphasize hospitality and kindness. The room is very clean and the location is near to the center. We recommend 100% stay in! Thanks for all!

The room is very clean, comfortable and just 5 min walk to Borobudur temple. Ika and his wife are very friendly and helpful, booking for us taxi service, helping with tickets and various tips. Also breakfast was very good :)

From the moment that you cross the door, Yani and Ika makes you feel like home: they offer the full hospitality of their home receiving you with cookies and tee, giving you recommendations of best places nearby to have dinner and a full map with activities to do in the surrounding.
It‘s not only about the host but also the location. The house is 10‘ walking from Borobudur temple
Everything was excellent

Everything exceeded my expectations. Higly highly recommended. Given me a chance, I will keep going back to this place.
There is nothing that I didnt like. hard to find anything that one cant like at Efata :)

I absolutely loved Ika and Yani. They welcomed me into their home and were so kind and helpful. And Yani made the best breakfast, and Ika was a wonderful tour guide.
My only complaint would be the firmness of the bed. However, hard beds are a common thing in Indonesia so nothing that would prevent me from recommending their lovely homestay.

It sounds cliché but the host Ika and his wife are really kind, helpful and attentive.
The local breakfast was delicious, filling and different from the usual. The room was pretty. The house has a nice little garden and is situated in a more quiet residential street, very close to everything, most notably the temple.

The Guesthouse is well-located, full of street food anywhere and really close to Borobudur Temple. Owner is super-kind and polite and helped me a lot!
This homestay is really worth it!

It's impossible to feel more welcome then here. Not only are Ika and Yani very hospitable and lovely people, they have a true and genuine passion for what they do. Ika provides you with all the info you can possibly need and will never grow tired answering your questions. The room is comfortable, clean and has a good and quiet airco and hot shower (but you probably want a cold shower). Yani makes you a delicious breakfast. Very highly recommended!
Terima kasih banyak Ika and Yani.

You should definitely come here if you seek interaction with Borobudur locals. It was a short stay of 3 days and 2 nights, but it felt like we became residents here. All the neighbors greeted us. The owner couple(Mr.Ika and Ms.Yani)made our stay comfortable with their warm consideration and the best hospitality. He was enthusiastic about supporting local handicrafts and seemed to be contributing to the revitalization of the local industry.
Local sweets, coffee and tea were served when we arrived, when we came back from sightseeing and when we were relaxing on the terrace. They are all delicious and free. Mr.Ika and Ms.Yani asked us what our favorite flavor for breakfast was. The breakfast she made tasted very good. She moved the laundry that we had hung out on the terrace to the sunny garden. Mr.Ika helped us all the time. I made a mistake in arranging a train ticket back to the airport, but he came to the ticket office and took the ticket for us.
The room was well cleaned in every corner. The showers and toilets were also very clean. Air conditioner worked very well. The hot shower had enough water and the temperature could be adjusted. There were bath towels, soap, and a toothbrush set. Drinking water and local snacks were provided on the terrace.
There are many restaurants and local eateries nearby. The entrance to Borobudur Temple is a short walk away. There is a mosque just behind the Efata, and the Koran is played loudly from the speakers in the morning and evening. We are not Muslim but we enjoyed and felt exoticism in the sound.
We usually stay in hotels, but Efata showed us how a homestay can be soothing. This is because the gentle and sincere personality of the owner couple healed our hearts.
We will come back here again when we need some peace of mind.
Nothing. leaving this place.

The location of this homestay was excellent - just a few hundred metres from Borobudur but off the main road so quiet. The breakfast was very good. Ika and his wife were very hospitable - we were taken on a lovely short bike ride in the nearby countryside.

The hosts were by and far the best part of the property. Ika and his wife Christina are the sweetest and most attentive owners. When I arrived I was not only presented with a welcome drink and local welcome snacks, but Ika also sat down with me to explain what the snacks were. He also gave me tips on visiting Borodobur and lent me a book on the temple!
The next morning even though I accidentally woke up late, Christina still prepared an absolutely delicious brunch of fresh fruit, local pastry, and a local noodle dish (also all explained). They were super flexible and responsive (on WhatsApp as well) and they made the stay easy and so pleasant.
On top of this all, the guesthouse is well maintained and it is in a very central location. I highly recommend coming here to stay!
Nothing - do note that the Google Maps location for the property is slightly off, just look for the sign saying “Efata Homestay”

A perfect stay with the kindest hosts imaginable. I enjoyed the garden, advice and conversation. The breakfast was incredible, including the best tofu I have ever tasted. I was supplied with a bike which I used to cycle around the local country lanes through villages and farms.

The Host was the friendliest and most welcoming person we have ever met.
He prepared a map with all good restaurants and shops/ATMs in the area and even wrote down some usefull indonesian phrases for ordering food.
He helped us with everything we needed and always tried his best to make our time in borobudur as pleasant as possible.
the room was very clean and the garden is beautiful. The breakfast was also good.
His home-grown Snake Friuts are delicious;)
I can highly recommend this place as you will instantly feel at home.

The Efata is well located to visit Borobudur and the rooms are quiet, clean and confortable. Our room was directly connected with the garden and it was perfect for relax.
The best of Efata are the owners, which put all their efforts helping you. Short time but I felt like home. Thanks for everything Ika and Yani

This Homestay is very close to Borobodur temple. I can easily say that our 2 night stay exceed our expectations. Ika (Owner of the homestay) and her wife made everything to make us feel like home. He gave very good tips about nearby locations, we make a cycling tour together and also he drive us to sunrise. They prepared breakfast for us even though we didn’t booked the room with breakfast. I would give 11 out of 10 if its possible :)
