The accomodation in a tiny village in the jungle close to the sea, we saw loads of wildlife every night
Nothing but we wish we had been more organised and got a hire car from the start because all the companies were fully booked to start with and it is difficult to travel on the buses because there is so few of them

the location (very close to a beach an to rivers), wooden bungalow, open space, beautiful night sky, very calm place, very few people, we could relax well, helpfull staff, bycicle rent directly at reception, shop and ATM in nearby village (10 minutes by bycicle, 20 by foot)
It's difficult to reach the bungalow by public transportation, reception is closed from 12:30 to 15:00, no check-in during the morning opening hours,
Generally, moving around in Iriomote without a car is possible, but challanging. Either you bring your own driver's license with an English translation or you plan to stay longer since moving around by bus & boat takes time. There are NO taxis on the whole island available.

The house is really spacious but very basic. It has all you need for cooking. You can rent the basic condiments.
It's very close to a beautiful beach.
They don't offer any kind of equipment for the beach.
You need to do your shopping before you get here.

Large spacious bungalow, with a kitchen. Very close to a beach. Quiet and relatively secluded in the woods. Free parking! Very nice and friendly staff. Easy check-in and check out. Enjoyed our stay :)
Location was a little far from the ports. We got a rental car so it wasn't a problem, there is an infrequent bus so that's an option too!
Can not check in early (office is closed in between - was not an issue for us, but just something to note!)

Great value for money. Clean wood cabin, with towels, futon bedding, etc. The cabins are located in a very small village, 5 minutes walk to a quiet lovely beach. There is only one eatery in town (izakaya with small menu) and no stores. It is best to have a car to get there and explore island. You can borrow bikes from the cabin office to bike around the small village or to bike to the next small town that has a small grocery store.
Very small signs to find the office, all in Japanese.

Great location, big bungalow very clean, hammock were available in the house. Kitchen very convenient. 3 minutes walk to the beach. Night sky was beautiful. Nice village but it was during pandemic so not so friendly...
I would suggest to have at least one sofa in the bungalow to be able to sit down and relax. We were a family of for so the two hammock were use by the kids i was left the wooden floor to sit down and relax...

I loved the location. There may have only been five buses a day but if you planned ahead you could get to where you needed to go and see and do all you wanted to on this lovely island. This was important as I did not have a car. I enjoyed the post and beam design of the wooden cabin and how quiet it was. Reading a book in the indoor hammocks was a great way to pass the time. There is a fully equipped kitchenette and with a stop at the grocery store a 2 min walk up the street from the Uehara port I was also able to make all the meals I needed to at home. The cabins are in a very peaceful, traditional village and a 2 min walk from a stunning white sand beach where you can enjoy some easy snorkeling and/or snorkeling in calm waters. It is a wonderful beach to watch the sunset from. I had the beach to myself the first afternoon I was there. There is also a small shrine just up the hill behind the cabin #1.
Check in was not until 3pm and check out was at 10:00am. It would be great if there was more flexibility on this especially considering how few the buses are. I was allowed to leave my bag and to change into clothes for the beach which was helpful.
The cabin is fully in Japanese style with futons, wooden benches and a wooden table. Having a sofa in there would be ideal for a comfortable place to sit. Even a beach chair would have been a major plus.

A really spacious bungalow for a reasonable price. Never seen before and after on the Ryūkyū-Islands.
Seperated toilet, shower and kitchen. Also has a big covered porch in front.
Quiet location within the village and a short stroll away from the beach. There's a bus connection to Uehara, timetable coordinated with the ferry.
There are 2-3 small restaurants around, also the reception sells a few basics for self-caterer.
As we had to shorten our stay because an approaching typhoon we got the cancelled nights refunded. I very much appreciate the support and understanding of the management.
The bed pads for the bunk beds should be changed to more professional futons.
