About this house rental
Villa Jucanya 6, is the name of the sixth property of "Villas Jucanya", a complex of 6 Villas located in front of one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, "LAGO DE ATITLAN", 15 minutes from the center of Panajachel (walking) and 5 min by car. Our Manager Ana Lynch, can call you a TukTuk (three wheels taxi) they charge between Q 5.00 (GQT) and Q 10.00 (GQT) depending on time.
Lake Atitlan is a place to rest with family or friends, with a big beautiful garden, 30 meters distance from the lake shore and surrounded by 3 volcanoes, mountains and lots of vegetation.
The House is located in a residential area in the village of Panajachel, very close to everything. It is very easily reached by car or bus. In the village of Panajachel, there are many typical shops, international restaurants, pharmacies, supermarkets and everything you need to enjoy an excellent holiday or vacation.
Near the village of Panajachel, there are many other villages to know around the lake, which can be visited by boat, which can be taken in front of Casa Jucanya. It is worth mentioning that the towns around the lake have the names of some of Jesus' apostles (San Pedro, San Lucas, Santiago).
The busiest and most built-up lakeside settlement, Panajachel ('Pana' to pretty much the entire country) has developed haphazardly and, some say, in a less-than-beautiful way. Strolling the main street, Calle Santander, crammed with cybercafes, travel agencies, handicraft hawkers and rowdy bars, dodging noisome tuk-tuks all the way, you may be forgiven for supposing this paradise lost.
Several different cultures mingle on Panajachel's streets. Ladinos (people of mixed indigenous and European heritage) and other expats control the tourist industry. The Kaqchiquel and Tz'utujil Maya from surrounding villages come to sell their handicrafts to tourists.
This mix makes Pana a curiously cosmopolitan crossroads in an otherwise remote, rural vicinity. All of this makes for a convenient transition into the Atitlán universe – but to truly experience the beauty of the lake, most travelers venture onward soon after arrival.
IMPORTANTE NOTE: WE CHARGE BY NUMBER OF GUESTS. PLACE THE CORRECT NUMBER OF GUESTS BEFORE SENDING YOUR BOOKING. CHILDREN 2 YEARS OLD PAY AS ADULTS.

Villa presents exactly as it is in the pictures. Unit is well equipped and nicely decorated. Villa is right on the lake. Transportation would be needed to get to the busy part of Panajachel and restaurants.

The house was located literally steps from the lake where you could hire a panga boat (lancha) to take you for a tour of the lake or to visit one of the beautiful indigenous communities. The view of the lake and volcanoes as sunset is breath taking
The house had large windows making the house nice and bright, from the master suite you have a panaramic view of the complex and sunset. My family and I would definitely stay again.

Lake
High prices over the holidays but very well kept home. Staff was very helpful and quick to respond. Everything worked well. Unit was close to the lake and close to the busy shopping area but far enough away so that we didn't feel like we were in the middle of it.

BETTER THAN ADVERTISED
Villa Jucanya is modern, spacious and clean. The amenities including the appliances all work. For the most part, the cleaning staff are thorough. English only speakers may have a problem with oral communication. Great driver--ask for Abraham.

Loved the space, the cleanliness, the amenities provided. The kitchen had everything you could need. The living room and dining room were nicely furnished, spacious and clean. There is Netflix (in Spanish, of course), and gorgeous big windows over a pretty garden. We loved the hammocks in the garden as well. Also loved the terrace--spectacular sunrise with bird chorus!
Some points to note: it's useful to have at least rudimentary Spanish to speak with management, although Ana, the owner, is very accessible by phone. Also: there is a gorgeous master bedroom upstairs, but it is situated in a way that the stairs are accessible through the terrace. Fine for us as we have older children, but if you are traveling with little ones, you may want to use the downstairs bedrooms.
Re the lakefront: When we arrived, I was taken aback as I had expected the property to be directly on the lake. It is not; rather, it is across the road. You'll have the houses, a gate, and then a narrow road, then a strip of land where kids play soccer, people sell snacks, there are stalls... and then a dock and boats bobbing in the water. This made it ideal for hiring a boat for a day literally from outside the gate! I wouldn't say a walk to downtown Panajachel is convenient (esp at night), but taking a tuktuk was easy and a short ride. It was convenient, well situated and beautiful, but don't expect unobstructed and expansive lake views or direct lake access. Also: I felt safe and secure the whole time.
