Very comfortable and clean cabin conveniently located 30 mins from Acadia National Park. Host responded very quickly to a question we had. Easy check in and check out.

Cabin was cozy, and clean. Close to tourist attractions and yet back in off the highway that you had some privacy.

This gem is tucked away from the crowds, but close enough to see all of Acadia that you could want. Quiet, restful, clean. Thank you for sharing this little slice of Maine waterfront paradise!

It was a perfect spot for my wife and I. The view overlooking the spacious backyard and the water was quite beautiful from the deck. Very well furnished, all we had to do was supply the groceries and relax. The cabin felt quite secluded even though we were minutes away from many attractions and restaurants. Very satisfied!!!

Keys at the cabin. Clean, internet, friendly place. Loved the cabin and the location. Would stay there again but our stay would be longer.

Cabin was very clean and comfortable. We showed up after a hurricane and there was no power. The host showed up with lanters , flashlights and extra wood for the fireplace. Power was back on the next morning. It was a wonderful comfortable stay.

The Merchant’s Cabin was a perfect home for our family of four and dog while we vacationed for the week. The location was great as it allowed us to hop over to Tidal Falls and Schoodic one day and Bar Harbor the next. We grilled with the charcoal and gas grill and used the provided pots for a lobster boil. We enjoyed watching the tide go in and out each day. If we’re ever back in Maine, we would definitely stay here again!

good location to explore Acadia NP and Bar Habor or just enjoy some S´mores and look for shooting stars in the fabulous backyard

The cabin was wonderful. We came to visit Acadia National Park. The cabin is about 40 minutes away from the park. The back porch looks right on the water. You can watch the tides come in and out. Very quiet. Grocery store within minutes and lobster places everywhere. Loved every minute.

Our stay at Merchant’s Cabin in Hancock was fantastic. The cabin is perfect for a relaxing family vacation. The accommodations are excellent and the property owner, Cassie is great to work with. I would highly recommend this property if you are looking for a relaxing place to stay close to Acadia.

Beautiful log cabin, loved the antique decor. Everything we needed, great view, comfy beds. For dog walking, go directly across the highway, up the hill less than a quarter mile. There is a little inlet on the left with a park sign. Great walk in the woods, so glad we found that. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Wife and I, our two dogs had an amazing relaxing beautiful time. Location is perfect quiet and private. Short distance to great local hikes and fantastic local shopping. Short drive to Acadia national park. Kayaking in Egypt bay was beautiful. All around highly recommended vacation spot. Couldn’t ask for more of a relaxing retreat from our busy lives. Everything from Grilling and chilling on the deck to exploring nature enjoying the beauty of coastal Maine.

Lovely little cabin in a great location and beautiful view of an inlet. Was hoping to kayak but we had cool and rainy weather. We did however get to watch the tide come in and go out. Highly recommend this place and would love to come back again some day

This is a lovely appointed waterfront cabin which is private yet a close drive to Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park. We stayed for a week and it was great having our dog there. We loved watching the tides go in and out. Everything you need is on site. The owners really thought of everything! We even got to make our very own pizza in the brick oven. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby in Ellsworth too. The restaurant across from the property called Chippers had the best chowder ever!

We really enjoyed the area, seeing much of Acadia, kayaking by the island, and of course the cabin!

Can’t say enough great things about location, cabin, cleanliness, and owner responsivenesses! Hiking, kayaking, seafood, MDI and Schoodic all within minutes. Thank you for allowing this amazing cabin be the home base for a great vacay!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Merchants cabin while we explored Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park. Close enough to enjoy the hustle and bustle, yet far enough to enjoy the quiet of the outdoors. We played cornhole every night, while enjoying the sunset and the ingoing/outgoing tide. The mattress of the double bed downstairs is extremely hard, and creaks with every movement but we adjusted just fine! Highly recommend this property!!

Nice style home, shower, porch, firepit. Uncomfortable sofa, and master bedroom. Need newer pots, cookie sheet. Enjoyed Acadia National Park, boat ride hiking, shops and restaurants

Everything about the cabin was great! They had kayaks & a canoe available for use. Great deck, cornhole, comfortable beds, great shower! Perfect spot for our families to stay in while we explore the area, including Bar Harbor & Acadia. Excellent tips on directions, restaurant suggestions, etc. Highly recommend, would definitely return.

This cabin exceeded our expectations. We brought extra everything in case they didn’t supply it at the cabin. They had everything and more than you could need. Pots, pans, silverware, spices, laundry detergent, etc. The view was gorgeous, the cabin was clean and adorable. Do not underestimate the reviews that say how steep the steps are. The stairs are almost more like a ladder. It was incredibly nerve racking trying to keep my 2yr old alive for the week so if that’s a concern for you with little ones maybe bring a baby gate or some sort of baracade. Something else I wish I knew was the doorknobs to outside are round and will fit round child proof knob locks. I would have brought some to keep my little one from escaping. Also.. the door locks from the inside but the knob still turns so when you go outside you may not realize it’s locked and you’ll lock yourself out. Almost happened to us. Overall our stay was incredible. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Merchants cabin was the perfect distance from Acadia-MDI and Schoodic. We had everything we needed for a nice at home breakfast before we started the day and a cookout on the deck when we got back from our outing. The kids loved being on the water in the kayaks and it was a perfectly private location to enjoy the fire pit for cooking smores. We loved Ruth and Wimpys nearby and checked out lots of other good restaurants around as well. We would definitely stay again if we we're in the area. A few things to note in case these are deal breakers, although not for us. It may not be great for very little kids since there is no bathtub and the loft stairs are super steep. Make note to only kayak during high tide, huge tidal difference! The beds are very firm so not too good for side sleepers. We thoroughly enjoyed our getaway. Thanks for the hospitality!

So happy to find this amazing property! So clean and decorated very cute. Loved the fire pit and that we had access to kayaks. We loved the water rising and falling at different times of the day. Our only regret, is that we didn’t get to be at the cabin more- out days were filled with all the great hikes in the area. The cabin was a perfect location to go back and forth to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The owners were very responsive with any questions we had- we also learned the story behind the cabin being moved and brought to the location and rebuilt from the bottom up- my son thought that was pretty cool! The stars were unbelievable, just sitting on the back deck. Loved that it was dog friendly- our pup thought he was dreaming- running all over the property! This was Our first time visiting Maine and now we can’t wait to come back- and this cabin is part of it- will definitely stay here again. Amazing trip!

Perfect getaway!
Location for exploring Acadia, ambiance, and friendly owner all 5 star! Decor, cabin layout, and cleanliness exceeded expectations, and being able to connect to the rhythm of the tides in the backyard was a great experience. Kayaks and the Old Pond Trail and shorter Carrying Place trails sooo close by was a huge bonus too- don’t miss them. Highly recommend this property for a couple or family, only reservation is the steps to the loft bedroom are a little squirrely for the less-than- spry, but 1st floor bedroom is lovely. Thanks for a peaceful, perfect vacation and hope to come back in the future!

Cassie was very responsive to any questions we had. Cabin was very cute with beautiful views. Cabin is off US 1 and you can hear road noise but didn’t bother us and you can’t hear it in the cabin. Kids loved the kayaks but make sure you time your time on them with the tide. I don’t recommend young kids in the loft due to the steep stairs but my two boys 15 and 11 were fine. Cabin is a not a bad drive from Bar Harbor and Acadia. I would absolutely recommend you take some time to drive over to Schoodic (spelling) point at high tide. It’s beautiful and about a 30 min ride from cabin. We would defiantly recommend this cabin and would stay again if we were ever in the area. Everything you need is there in the cabin.

Fantastic Vacation
My family and I had a fantastic vacation this past week. The Merchant’s Cabin was absolutely perfect for a relaxing get a way for our entire family. It was very comfortable and had everything we needed to enjoy our trip. The cabin and the property was everything we expected it to be. It was a very short easy drive from the cabin to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. The property managers were great to deal with and very responsive to our needs. If you are looking for a comfortable place to stay to enjoy a Maine vacation I would highly recommend the Merchant’s Cabin.

Very nice. The decor is great for us. We enjoyed our stay. Would have been helpful to have clear instructions on the WIFI, TV, kitchen, & fireplace. I think tHe mattress is about ready to be replaced and the intersection with RT.1 is beginning to wear down. Great location for exploration and, overall we enjoyed the week and we are considering returning. Thanks for a great week.
