I have been a vacationer to this exact region since before I was born, 4 decades later, and as a fan of Maine Game Warden Services (Animal Planet!), staying in this historic house was such a treat!
It's perfect for a family of more than 4, we had our favorite cousins join us for the week and we had a blast exploring the places I have loved since I was a child.
A wonderful property and a wholesome area with a full service grocery within just a few meters walking distance.
We loved this house! Used to be a regular at Edgewater Cabins but can't get in anymore so this was PERFECT! Acadia folks take note, this house is in the absolute perfect location.

We had a wonderful week at Bethany’s Maine house!

What an absolutely FANTASTIC, charming property and house. Stayed with two other adult couples - plenty of room for everyone to spread out. Spectacular back porch for watching sunsets, huge yard for frisbee, well-appointed kitchen. Would definitely stay again.

Beautiful Maine home
We had a wonderful visit to Maine. The house was cozy and gave us just the feel we were looking for. It had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and inviting. Beautiful old home. If only the walls could talk to give us a peek into the past owners and the lives they had.

From what we could tell, the house is the better part of 200 years old -- and it exudes charm. Comfortable. Updated. Easy to use. A 15 minute drive to the Schoodic Peninsula (the only part of Acadia National Park on the mainland); 30 minutes to the primary Park. Fabulous hiking trails within a 5 minute drive. The owner was incredibly helpful. She provided us with great information out the area prior to the stay and while we were there was an emergent repair was needed (these things happen, even with new houses) and got someone immediately on it. Would rent again and highly recommend the property.

Lovely home with a view.
Had a great week at this house, enjoyed quiet, cool evenings out by the fire pit. Even got to enjoy a meteor shower one night. Would recommend this house to anyone looking to stay away from MDI in a quieter area.

Cool 200 year old home with tons of space and comforts. Our group was mainly there to explore Acadia and this home is nestled about 15 minutes to Schoodic Peninsula (amazing!) and about 35 minutes to the majority of Acadia National Park (amazing!) We loved to go hike Acadia during the day, but then were very happy to escape the crowds back at our house for the week. We loved the entire stay and experience!

Beautiful, spacious old house in quiet neighborhood located a short drive to Acadia/Bar Harbor, removed from all the traffic. Our group enjoyed the tennis courts and local walks, although the courts were popular and sometimes unavailable.
The house has a very cool vibe with lots of character. The beds were very comfortable and linens were clean and plentiful. The kitchen had lots of plates, glasses and flatware, but could use a few more additions for those that cook a lot (a griddle or skillet would be a nice addition, a toaster, a blender…) Also, it would be wonderful to add a decent size mirror to each bedroom to help ease the bathroom traffic in the mornings, as many of us needed in the space at the same time.
The fire pit area was very overgrown and the grill was not cleaned, we scrubbed it before we could use it. However, the area is lovely with seating to eat outside. But bring your bug spray, in general there are lots of mosquitos this close to the water.
The TV was quite large and the couch in that space was comfy. We slept seven adults (3 couples +1) very comfortably, but could easily sleep several more with kids sharing rooms.
When compared to other homes in this area, this house is very reasonable and a really solid choice for your vacation. We had a wonderful visit!

Restored older colonial. Location was between both Acadia areas so perfect for exploring the parks.

Really neat old Maine house
First of all, this house is a very interesting old house with a lot of neat features. Cool old door locks, some really interesting old electrical switches etc. But, it also has a good mix of modern touches. It's a big house and there is plenty of room to spread out. The stairs to get to the two upstairs bedroom and one upstairs bathroom will not work for older people, so keep that in mind if you have trouble with stairs - they are very narrow and very steep. My wife and I being in our 40's had no issue with the stairs, but at the saying goes, they don't build them like that anymore. Also, it is worth noting that there is not water access on the property, even though it looks like it from the map. But it is "on the water." The neighborhood is nice and quiet, even with being close to Rt. 1. The tennis courts directly across the street are also convenient. The one thing I will say is that if you're looking to stay closer to Bar Harbor, this house is just a little too far away to be considered close to Bar Harbor. It's about a 45 minute drive and if you do that day after day, it gets a little old. But there plenty of other places to check out that are close to the house. Tidal Falls is great, as is the Schoodic Peninsula - which is part of Acadia National Park, but it's much less crowded than the "main" Acadia Park. Lastly if you decide to stay here, look up The Pickled Wrinkle and visit them for dinner - it's REALLY good!! Overall, we enjoyed our week at the house, it was very clean and worked well for our family.

Lovely old home in a quiet, scenic and safe area. This home was very comfortable. There were only four of us, but it could easily accommodate 8, given the 4 large bedrooms. Large table easily accommodated evening card games. There is a wonderful porch to sit on and sip a drink while watching for wildlife and admiring the view of the water. We saw a Fox one evening! The owners have thoughtfully restored this home and decorated it nicely. Lots of linens and cozy blankets. Stairs to second floor bedrooms are steep and narrow as advertised. We had no issue with the stairs but if you have limited mobility the stairs wouldn’t be great. The drive to Acadia is 35-40 minutes. We preferred the mainland bit of the NP on the Schoodic Peninsula. Not crowded and excellent trails. If you want a serene and simple getaway-this is a perfect choice.

Lovely Getaway
Both the location and history of the house make this a wonderful place to stay. Close to Bar Harbor and Acadia, Schoodic Point and Mountain, and small harbor towns in their autumn glory.
The time that we spent in the home was comfortable and relaxing and the setting, being able to walk to the water was lovely.

Waterview historical home
Unexpectedly comfortable and attractive interior, spacious kitchen, dining and living areas with colonial period charm. Also, the property borders on the bay, where the sun sets over the water, which you can see through the trees as you relax on the side porch. Excellent little grocery market nearby which supplies decent meats, seafood and wines. Loved it, would gladly return for another stay

Sea Vista
Had an incredible two weeks working remote from this property with friends. The house is a lot larger than the pictures show (extends pretty far back from the road), the WiFi worked perfectly, there is nearby access to the ocean which you can see from the backyard, and there is a great restaurant/corner store within walking distance called Dunbars. The interior of the house is quite spacious with plenty of common areas, a TV, and an exercise bike. Plenty of room in the yard as well that includes a fire pit and brand new grill. Another perk to this house is the location being about halfway between the Schoodic Peninsula and Bar Harbor - we found that Schoodic ended up being one of our favorite hikes out of the five we did and would have missed it if we didn't stay here. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Had a great trip that combined "working from someone else's home" (in the time of COVID), hiking, and exploring. Great property with lots of space, a huge yard, a deck with adirondack chairs, a fire pit, a grill, washer/dryer, and a big kitchen and pantry area. There was also TV that is in a room that's not in pictures. It was just off the Scenic Byway (without being noisy) for easy access to travel. Lots of space and it was easy to work with the owner. We would stay there again and next time, we'll bring some tennis rackets to take advantage of the court across the street.

Need for fresh air
Beautiful property and house. Accommodations were comfortable, plenty of room. Easy access to several activities - hiking, swimming. Outdoor fire pit and grill were wonderful. A few more pots and pans, silverware, and TP would have been nice.

We wished we could stay longer
On the second to the last day of our trip—after days of hiking, tennis, exploration, and after nights of long meals, pit fires, and stargazing—we called Bethany to ask if it was possible to stay longer.... It wasn't, which was sad, of course, but also a good reminder that perfect trips in an ideal house and location are perfect because they are time-bound. But if we can return again, we will.
