Location good, room pretty grim but clean. Expensive for what it was

Location and staff. Very nice and helpful.bathroom clean.

No Daylight in the room, felt very grim. Couldn’t open window as ground level and in street. Staff room next door. Could hear EVERYTHING from next doors bathroom's. Some bloke a knocking on my door at 7.30 am asking me if I was going to be long.( check out time 10am and room still would need cleaning) decor looked very tired. Tooo expensive!

Very reasonable. But fix the heating system.

Food at the adjoining restraint was great! Friendly and helpful host. Gave me advice on dealing with my sand fly bites from Milford the day before. Room was spacious, secure and quiet. Good location on the main road, with all restaurants and routes out nearby.

The room was hot at night - thank goodness there was a fan in the room which I kept on me all night. We tried to turn the temperature down but the aircon housing would come off and was just exposed wiring and circuitry. A bit disconcerting. Staff were helpful and nice enough but pretty quiet, not great communicators.

suite with spa spacious and comfortable. heated bathroom floor and towel rails. bit dated but very comfortable. good laundry facilities. bailezz cafe cosy. smart TV.

A great place to meet pensioners on bus tours.

Lots of tour groups come through this hotel, which by itself is not a bad thing. But all that traffic showed in the wear and tear to our room: cabinet doors and drawers closed unevenly, furniture was scarred, and bedside lamp was coming apart. Bed wasn't uncomfortable, but it was noticeably furrowed. Poor lighting in sleeping/living area contributed to an overall dreariness, especially after dark. Room and amenities satisfied guests' basic needs, but there wasn't much lux. Nor were there any USB charging ports. Reasonably-priced clothes washers and dryers were a plus.

Breakfast was served in a lovely space by friendly and helpful staff. But the food was disappointing. Limited offerings (not a single piece of fresh fruit), hot food was tepid at best, and very dry bread was the only gluten-free pastry option.

Unfortunately, this overnight stay was the most expensive and also the worst on our New Zealand trip

The bathroom is very old - only one bath with a shower curtain and a fixed shower. Moreover, the bathroom was not really clean. There was also no toilet brush. There was no real table in the whole room where, for example, you could have worked on your laptop.

great location and very close to everything. Short on cleaning staff so no room cleaning but desk staff were great at helping you with extra products you may have needed.

very hard to get into restaurants especially when one was only open sporadically. Room was very stuffy as no air con on the first hot day.

Not really a 4 star hotel. Nice location, needs a big freshen up in facilities.

Location in town, free parking and friendly staff.

No room service during our stay. Old facilities, bathroom not very clean. Loud transfer of sound from plumbing services in other rooms.

Location

It is obvious that the lack of staff is affecting the hotel and the whole of Te Anau. Rooms not ready and unable to be serviced, restaurant could not serve for hours due to lack of staff. They were trying really hard but could not cope.

Stay here for great location and comfy

Central location, spacious and quiet rooms, comfy beds, friendly reception staff, TV worked well

Stepping back into the 1990s, needs a renovation, WiFi in the rooms is awful, please change the shower heads, fridge wasn’t working, get some lamps

Very good

Accomodation was traditional old fashioned but well maintained, clean and tidy. Very large Hotel and obviously in it's day was well built. Would be a large scale operation to modernise. Most people are only staying a night or 2 so it's adequate. Staff super friendly. Breakfast was yum, traditional buffet. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Gateway to Milford Sound region. We are grateful we stayed the night. Long day to drive back to Queenstown after Milford Sound. Found great restaurant - The Fat Duck. Very popular. Suggest booking

Just update overtime. After covid probably just thankful to have customers and staff to operate it.
