It would have been really nice if there was some milk in the fridge upon arrival. Less than $2 for a small bottle from the supermarket. Because we arrived after dark after completing Abel Tasman, 4 square was closed and no milk in fridge for morning coffee.

Elspeth and Kristin were brilliant throughout. Fantastic cottages in a beautiful location. We didn’t want to leave. Would definitely recommend

The estuary is gorgeous, and the cottage is beautifully furnished in what feels like an authentic 50s style. We loved it, and are already scheming up a return.
I would definitely add on the breakfast basket. We thought it was delicious and really fun to try jams and honey from the property.

Apple Pickers' Cottages exceeded our expectations and we absolutely loved every minute of our stay here. The host could not have been more friendly and welcoming, and Karaka Cottage was an absolute delight from the wonderful modern-retro furnishings, to the tranquil setting and the beautiful views from every window. I could not recommend this place highly enough and will definitely be back! Fabulous!

The estuary is a magical place, always changing. And the wildlife varies with the tide.

Absolutely everything ! This is a beautiful old cottage in a most idyllic location. It has everything you could wish for to ensure you have a fantastic holiday . It is located on the banks of the estuary with amazing views all round and lots of outdoor seating to enjoy the surrounding environment . It is very private and even has an outdoor bath in the garden with lovely bath salts provided ! We have returned many times and plan to be back again soon .

Peaceful and private, spacious, opportunity to sit anywhere outside out of the wind thanks to the wrap around deck.

the location is a dream and the decoration done with much love and attention
The weather gods did not have mercy on us, that however has nothing to do with the accommodation. As for the location the only downside might be that you (when alert) can hear the nearby road.

Beautiful, cosy little cottage with amazing views

The view was amazing, very tranquil and quiet location. Outside bath was nice. We like using the BBQ and eating dinner watching the scenery.
Bath could be bigger and deeper for 2. No contact with the host, we would have liked an hello in person or by phone call or even a hand written note to say she wanted to keep her distance due to Covid. She waited in her car when we passed on leaving property with her windows closed. Sad.

Gorgeous little Bach in secluded area. Close to nature.
Not as accessible to Mapua as we had thought. Would be a good hours walk. No public transport or taxis.

Accomodation was private and very warm! Indoor and outdoor fire with a nice bath on the deck.

The location is very special, right on the edge of a tidal estuary.
The cottage is original 1950's / 60's New Zealand bach style, with furniture of the period.
The bathroom and kitchen have been remodeled in keeping with the period, the whole property is beautifully maintained.

Location, outdoor bath, ambiance
Cooktop/ oven is antiquated to be in keeping with the theme of the apple pickers cottage but new thermostat on a couple of the elements would allow some control of temperature. It’s off or red hot.
