Beautiful views, self contained and well presented. Lidia and her daughter (and Ellie the dog) are lovely.
The steep slope down was a bit hairy (though Lidia had warned us!) especially parking the car! Just be mindful with small children as the play area is lovely, but the drop is huge!

Location on mountain ridge , very kind, warm, attentive hosts and dog, privacy respected, eco/sustainability oriented, kitchen well equipped, personal touch with arts, crafts and wall paintings. Wind blowing wildly. Cornucopia of fruits (tray) offered every morning .
Access is difficult due to very steep gravel driveway (for a short distance) , 4wd best but not absolutely essential. Wifi was unpredictable.

Lidia and Sofia were very friendly owners, they gave us fresh fruit every morning. The rental was clean and well-equipped and located in a peaceful area The view from the house of the hills was great.
The road down to the rental was a bit steep and narrow. I was a little hesitant to go down at the beginning, but was fine after that, even at night and in the rain. We had a 2-wheel drive compact SUV.

It is a great stay and very near to the center (by car and foot). Sofia is a very nice host, they even brought us fresh fruit in the morning. There is no A/C but Monteverde is pretty chilli with wind so its not nessesairy. The road to the house is a bit steep (4wd is recommended). There is even a cute dog in front of the house, big bonus.
Its just something small, but figuring out the shower with the temperature can be a little tricky.

a lot of room, own kitchen, nice staff, great view

Great facilities and beautiful location. Really easy to check in and out and Sofia was lovely. Has parking on site and a decent kitchen.
The roads are fairly good to the property but the final short stretch is fairly steep and on gravel.

Helpful information, snacks, views, colourful decor - everything was great!

Hostesses : Lydia and her daughter Sofia were just so nice. They were very accommodating. They allowed me to check in before 3 pm. As soon as the previous guests checked out , a cleaning lady was cleaning the room and getting it ready for me. Lydia and Sofia also let me stayed ( I needed one hour ) beyond 11:00 am. I wanted to drink coffee and Sofia bought me coffee powder. I needed sugar and she brought it. She was incredible.
The location : Finding Lydia’s home is easy . It is the last home on the street. The last few steps to her home can be challenging but they are just a few steps and didn’t bother me at all. The reward is an unobstructed view of the mountains. The place is maybe 15 minutes to town where you can find all kinds of food.
The room : I had the smallest room and I was very happy with it. It has an enormous bed , a functional kitchen and a fridge plus a table with 2 chairs. The size is just right for me.
WiFi- worked great. Shower- hot water available . You just need to balance the cold water and hot water.
The Breakfast : I vaguely knew Lydia and Sofia can provide breakfast. I wasn’t going to have breakfast there. I thought I would buy pastries. The cleaning lady told me the breakfast is very good so I asked Sofia about it. She sent me a menu with 4 choices. Except the omelette which costs 3500 colones ( $6.23 USD ) , the rest are 3000 colones each ( $5.34 USD ). The price is very reasonable and it is what you would pay at a nearby restaurant ( if not more ). I ordered a different breakfast each day. The first morning I reserved a bus to go to Bosque Nuboso Santa Elena at 8:30 am so I preferred to eat early. Lydia delivered the breakfast at 7:15 am and I had plenty of time to eat. The other 2 days I didn’t have anything urgent so I ate at 8:00 am and Sofia delivered the breakfast on time. I have to rave about the breakfasts because they were delicious. I love especially the fruit and there were 3 to 4 varieties every morning.
There is nothing that I didn’t like. I ran out of room to tell you how much I enjoyed the stay. The only thing that I didn’t like was to check out and return to San José.

Very friendly owner. We were surprised by the fruit in the morning! Nice view from the room on the mountains.

wonderful host, good facilities, quiet area a bit away from the tourist center. not luxurious but more than adequate for the price. we are happy to recommend it.
Don't be scared: The last meters for the driveway are a bit steep, but at the bottom there is enough space to park or turn around.

Lidia and Sophia took care for all the details so the apartment was very cozy and we had everything we needed. The view from the apartment is just amazing! No worries that there is no AC, as because of the wheather you don't need it. We got fresh fruit every day which was a very nice gesture. Additionally, Sophia shared with us a lot of useful information and tips.
Absolutly nothing to add. Location is far away from the center, however is not a problem if you have a car.

Lidia and daughter Sofia very warm and accommodating; they make you feel at home
Road to property unpaved, steep and hard for car to take traction. However there’s parking spot

Hosts were extremely helpful and friendly. They booked us on tours and gave us great advice.

Excellent value for money: very friendly owners, beautiful views, good location if travelling with a car, comfortable rooms, good wifi...

Our stay was great, 5-10 minute walk into town. Sofia and her family were so friendly and helpful. Sofia arranged a coffee tour for us at Don Juan, which was great, and she also gave us plenty of information regarding getting to the Cloud Forests etc. We were very happy with our stay. Thank you so much Sofia and family, pura vida!
4.7
very clean
very, very small bedrooms with to wardrobes or space for luggage to speak of. Tiny bathroom with no towel rails, no space for wash bags.
4.7
The apartment was incredibly clean and well decorated. It was great having access to a kitchen, and the views of the mountains are gorgeous. We saw a toucan fly past the window and a few monkeys playing in the trees by the playground.
The hosts are incredibly helpful with recommendations to nature reserves and tours, and even brought us fruit in the morning. Their dogs are also very friendly and playful.
There is a gap under the front door so there were some bugs that crawled into the apartment.
The location is about a 20 minute walk to Santa Elena.

All facilities are great. Fresh plate of fruits every morning is a treat.
Because of the location its open air and facing the mountains it gets really windy and the breeze is really loud. The wind could be blowing all night and it gets really noisy. Water pressure is great but you have to keep playing, adjusting the knobs to get the right hot water temperature. Wi-fi could be better. I worked remotely and the wi-fi is sometimes unstable. Good thing they have more than one line and I could change to whichever is better, but I lost several classes.

Lidia's place was wonderful. Sofia and her mother Lidia made us extremely welcome. The bungalow/apartment was perfect and very well thought through. The kitchen was well equipped and a pleasure to cook in looking at the spectacular view, also seen from the living room, which is part of the same room as kitchen. We are from the UK so it was helpful that Sofia speaks and writes excellent English. We saw 2 toucans and monkeys just outside. Sofia brought us prepared fresh fruit each morning, a lovely treat. Sofia is very knowledgeable about local activities etc. She booked us onto a night tour which we really enjoyed. I had already booked zip wires with Selvatura, which Sofia also happens to recommend, although there are many companies. Thank you so much Lidia and Sofia and Happy New Year. :)
The bungalows are at the bottom of a steep, gravel side road, about 100m long. We drove down to the end in our hire car which is not a 4WD. It was very tricky getting it up the lower end of the road by Lidia's. If you don't have a 4WD park on the main road or higher up the side road avoiding very steep part. Best to walk down road first to see. The description did accurately describe this.

Sofia was super friendly and helpful. She truely cared about our comfort and meeting our needs and requests for help/and advice. She brought us wonderful fresh local fruit every day, and she even arranged to borrow a tool for me to fix my car. The mountain view was spectacular, of the forests in the national park accross the steep ravine and the gliding condors overhead. In November,it was windy but no rain.
Small details could be improved. The mirror in the bathroom could be mounted. A chair in front of the TV would be nice. But the apartment has a vey nice kitchen, it is modern, clean, and beautiful!
4.7
You can walk to town, and the accommodations are charming and as clean as can be— the hosts have thought of everything— like providing a little jar of cooking oil so you don’t have to buy a whole bottle at the grocery store!
I felt as if I was staying with a warm host family in an exchange program. Lidia and her daughter Sofia were so incredibly eager to make me feel at home and welcome. They often shared meals they had cooked, invited me to the Friday Farmer’s Market, and went far and beyond to answer any questions I had. They offer all guests a lovely plate of fruit each morning. Sofia speaks some of the best English I have encountered in Costa Rica!
Make sure to walk to Mirador El Tanque for the sunset & order incredibly delicious food cooked from the neighbor’s delivery service (Taco Station)... a local secret. I had originally booked 2 nights, but stayed a week!
Living on the edge of a mountain is gorgeous, with many views of rainbows, but do be prepared for those windier days. Bring ear plugs for howling nights if you are sensitive to noise. Although everything is walkable, it may not be preferable for those that aren’t used to hills & dustier roads.
4.7
The price, cleanliness, location, helpful host.
Not enough hooks behind doors in bathroom and bedroom. No place to hang used clothes.
Bathroom mirror not on wall.
Hot plate right burner does not turn off unless you unplug.
No light source on left side of bed
Stools are very high and uncomfortable. Chairs would be better. Safer

Lidia and Sophia were great hosts, plate of fresh fruit in the morning, helped to organise trips and shuttles. The bed was comfy and enough space to relax. An easy walk to shop and restaurant and 10 to 15 minute walk into the centre.
Shower a little annoying as need to keep adjusting temperature, but a good pressure so OK overall.
4.7
very quiet location, hosts very welcoming and helpful

Lidia and her daughter were super friendly, always willing to help, very accommodating. Quick communication with them and on arrival it was raining and they came with an umbrella to help out.
Fruit platter for breakfast everyday was a perk and cooked breakfast on the first day was much appreciated.
As the name says the views are beautiful (from the living room/kitchen), and there is a community playground area next door which my kids really enjoyed. There is also free parking.
Nothing we didn't like ;)

Lidia’s mountain view was absolutely exceptional in every way and what made it very special was Lidia and Sofia who are extremely kind people. They helped us with everything as well as going over and above providing us with fresh fruit and snacks for our drive. This property is absolutely beautiful and really made me feel at home during my stay.

Nice and comfy house with everything you need. There are quite some insects roaming around, but it comes with the location and proximity to the forest 😊 The view from the house is amazing and host was super welcoming and helpful with giving us good tips for what to visit and how to get there. We had a really nice time!

Great place to stay in at Monteverde. The views of the mountains are spectacular. The town is only a short drive away.
The owners are really sweet. They gave us lots of helpful information about the area and they even gave us homemade tortillas for lunch when we left.
