The room was very noisy due to traffic and cold due to a cracked window. No restaurant facilities.

This hotel has a lot of history and the owner was very knowledgeable and happy to show us around

Booked for an overnight business visit. While the location is close to the docks and the building is historic right next to the Transporter Bridge (one of only two in the UK) and doesn't look particularly inviting from the outside the rooms were comfortable and to a high standard. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived late and left early so did not try breakfast or the bar.

This is very late coming- stayed in October for a midwife conference (2 nights)
Lovely warm welcome, I was given amazing room with large bathroom and 4 poster bed!
Lovely breakfast
Bit noisy near the main roads and docks
Some interesting characters at the bar

The Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was freshly cooked and was very good. Although there is car parking available, the entrance is tight.
The location of the hotel is on a major traffic junction opposite the port. Quite a lot of road traffic noise during the stay, even overnight. Rooms were clean but dated.

Well situated on Coastal Road, opposite tourist attraction, Transport Bridge, Newport, Wales.
Owned by lovely family who are polite and friendly. Sincere welcome & true hospitality.
Tastefully decorated with original features lovingly retained, (Art Deco stained glass windows, lighting, ceramic tile panels, inlaid mosaic flooring, Victorian building with ornate carved wood etc. Sash windows supplemented with effective secondary double glazing creating well lit, warm, cosy atmosphere. Ample space & comfort provided for individual need. (Accessible for those with disabilities -free car park (securely gated overnight), ramp, lift, choice of rooms with walk in shower. Attentive staff on hand to supplement requirements).
Dietary needs considered, ordered food provided fresh, (Bistro not yet open to public).
Small bar if one would like to socialise with more than enough space to extend into larger lounge, (could be cordoned off for private functions
Nothing to dislike!

…original features, lots of history, spacious and comfortable rooms.
Entrance to a car park at a back of the property is very narrow for medium or family cars.

Both the reception person and the bar person were very friendly.
Room 14:- To have actually been able to sleep would have been good, however, the constant road noise prevented this. The one window that opened, couldn't be closed as there was no other ventilation in the room. For some unknown reason to me I was given a disabled room with a bathroom kitted out accordingly, the tiny hand sink was at wheelchair height and therefore impossible to wash in it, the brown staining all along the wall/floor is probably due to the fact there's no functioning extractor in the shower-room, I didn't risk using the shower so not sure if it functioned or not. The room had a nasty underlying odour due to no ventilation, this probably explains why the bed linen had been washed in enough detergent/conditioner trying to mask this, however it just made the whole experience worse.
Waiting until morning seemed to take forever. I had breakfast booked and paid for but can't comment on it, as I decided enough was enough, I had to get out of there as quickly as possible.

Cheap hotel, with really friendly staff. Very historic Pub/Hotel and location. Fair overnighter when out on the road, but not a family hotel.
Not a great area (not that they can do anything about that), but they do have a nice secure carpark.

Nice enough. Clean, staff great. Relatively quiet given proximity to main road. Would stay again.
The large double bed in suite 17 is just two single beds pushed together. They don't stay together top well.

Excellent stay - very friendly staff and a great breakfast. Can't wait until the restaurant re-opens.

The room was a good size with a large bathroom, staff were incredibly friendly and even with a busy weekend were extremely polite when we check out late.
My only downside was the double bed was made up of 2 single mattresses so after a couple nights sleep there was an uncomfortable gap.

There were no air conditioning in this hotel and it was extremely hot at night and our children were miserable due to sweat and the heat.
