Value for money but could be cleaner.
The location
Chaotic breakfast, sometimes no cups, food ran out and wasn't replaced immediately. Bathroom had lots of hairs, toilet seat broken, smell of mould. Water leaking from shower into the floor, hence the smell of mould. Not enough towels. Very low pressure water which made it difficult to wash hair. We were informed on arrival of the events scheduled for the weekend, a prom, a wedding and a party. Couldn't leave windows open. Fire alarm test at 8am!!

Overall a medium range hotel but in a great location.
Room is small but had all the essentials (iron, hair dryer etc). Breakfast was good- full english and cereal and fruit available. Small gym and also pool table to play in the evenings. Nice grounds to walk around in. Great location for walks around Cookham, along the Thames and also great for visiting Clivedon House.
mattress not very comfortable. Ok to manage for 1 night but beyond that its a bit difficult. Rooms are very small so can get quite warm in the summer. There is a small fan provided however. Lastly, they do have a lot of events at the centre, we stayed for 3 nights and 1 night they had a high school prom and the next night they had a wedding reception with music playing until midnight. The hotel did send us an email warning us of the first event, but this was only 2 days prior to us coming and it was unrefundable by this point.

Ideal stopover when walking the Thames Path
A lovely old house with modern accommodation block, restaurant, bar, and gym. All situated around a central green. Easy reach of facilities in the village.
Nothing.

Affordable, get what you pay for
The price of the room which was on the small side but comfortable. The outside area of the hotel was very nice to look at. Checking in and out was smooth and the staff were lovely and helpful.
The bathroom floor wasn't cleaned properly, along with the shelf and the shower. The breakfast was very bland, the tables in the restaurant were far too big with the option of having strangers to come and sit next to you when there were only 2 of us. Although the WiFi password was shown at reception we didn't see this on the way in, it would be useful to also display the password in the rooms or on the room key cards.

Ok for putting your head down but that was about it
Breakfast was poor . Admittedly we were late risers but the hot breakfast was little more than luke warm and cereals had not been refilled and coffee was not nice .
Our door lock on our room was faulty and after our first night milk and tea were not replenished . Basically the room was equipped for one person and we had to ask for towels as they had only been provided for one .

Try to avoid
The cost and location
Firstly, it doesn't feel like a hotel at all, more like a camp. I got into my room and felt dated. The bed was so close to the bathroom door, like annoyingly, and once you were in the bathroom, the discoloured ceiling was not great to look at. While trying to sleep, the hallway light was coming through the door. Even as the light seemed on a sensor, it was very easily triggered and really bright. So not a good sleep at all. Next, when having breakfast, the food was good but interrupted by the toaster machine screeching. I couldn't even enjoy the food while having that down my ear. Lastly, I went back to my room to pack up, and while in the room, cleaners unlocked it, thinking it was vacant. Do you not check if someone has checked out before trying to dismantle the room? Wouldn't recommend, to anyone.
