Beautiful room that was very clean and comfortable . The views from our window were fab . The location of this hotel is perfect for exploring Dovedale and the stepping stones. All staff were welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was lovely and the food from the bar was excellent. We had the fish finger light bite and it was fantastic, Would highly recommend staying at this hotel and as a place to eat and drink. We will be staying again in the near future.
For us there wasnt anything negative at all

Location was amazing. Lovely old building with wonderful views. Very comfortable bed. Spotlessly clean.
I have to mention Tracy, who seemed to take on every customer facing role and was there morning, noon and night
Apart from Tracy (who was brilliant) the rest of the staff didn't seem to care less. The manager, didn't make himself known to us. Some of the food was not cooked as well as it could have been

Great location. Good breakfast. Comfortable bed
Rather tired decor needs refurbishing especially bathroom. Got moved to a room without a view. Attempted to overcharge me for room and wine we had with dinner. Thought these were simple mistakes but refund was not processed properly and not received on my debit card.

Staff was very good however ... see below
Staff was very good however the team was let down by a very grumpy manager that was happy to rebuke the staff infrond of customer.. the rebuke was NOT deserved.

Dinner in restaurant was good (although pricey). Breakfast excellent. Staff helpful.
Poor wi-fi. No phone signal (not their fault clearly).

I loved the location
I didn’t like the seating layout of the bar area, the shower was pathetic, the room and bathroom were much smaller than I expected, having looked at the rooms on the website I expected much bigger and better

Service and quality of food
The breakfast toast should not have been served until the cooked breakfast arrived at the table.

The location of the hotel is absolutely breathtaking and every single bit of food we ordered blew us away with how great it was. The staff were also very professional and the hotel had a very relaxing feel to it.

The views from our bedroom were stunning and the breakfast very nice
The shower dribbled out - plumbing needs attention.

Super location overlooking start of Dove Dale very easy to get to other locations in the White Peak.

First of all, a great location. Having lived in and around the area for many years we knew what to expect, but the views are still fantastic, both from our room and from outside the hotel. Dovedale is just a few minutes walk away. The room was a really good size and the bed was very comfortable. Combined with the quiet location, I slept about as well as I ever have. The full English breakfast next morning was very good - the chef knows how to make scrambled eggs properly! The staff were as friendly and helpful as we could have wished for.
Try not to bring too many large suitcases! Getting from reception to your room, there can be a few short flights of stairs along the way. This can’t be helped, of course. It’s an older building and the layout is also part of its charm.

Breakfast good, dinner excellent.
The shower worked ok but was rather feeble!

Breakfast: Very Good.
Location: Very Good.
Staff: Very good.
Dinner: lacked variation, Menu did not alter throughout stay although food available was very good but did not warrant constant repetition.
Lack of information pack on use of room/hotel equipments and services. I understand previous issues of 'COVID" however this is no longer considered an issue enforced by there being no sanitisers located throughout the hotel therefore could you pease resupply a suitable info pack to the rooms?

Excellent location and a nice room. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Dinner in the restaurant was good.
Breakfast was a little disappointing by today's standards. Although there was nothing wrong with the food, I thought having to choose between a continental and cooked breakfast was odd when most places seem to treat cooked items as an addition to their standard continental fare (rather than an option). The supplementary charges for choosing, say, Eggs Benedict instead of the standard cooked breakfast items were unwelcome when the charge for breakfast was already £20 per head. I expected pastries, croissants etc. to have been freely available from the help-yourself items (fruit juice, yoghurts et al), although they did bring me a pastry when I asked. I didn't like the coffee much.
Food service in the bar was way too slow - we waited 40 minutes from ordering for desserts. The food itself was fine. The impression is that they are understaffed.
Everything seemed a bit overpriced. They need to fix the potholes at the end of the drive!

Excellent food
Some bar staff appeared disorganised and had a couldn't care less approach, some restaurant and reception staff were exceptionally courteous and very willing to go the extra mile which made up for the approach of others.

Location is outstanding, with vistas that lift the heart and countryside that soothes the pressures of modern stress away. The welcome is honest and true and as you step into the world as it shouldn’t be at the Issac Walton exhale the modern and harmful world away.

The hotel is situated in the quiet and beautiful Dovedale valley and surrounded by hills and fields. We had very beautiful view of Thorpe's cloud hill from our window. The hotel is the only property in that area. Nearest village is about one mile away. Food is good too.

Great staff and location. Room was nice but too hot so had to turn off the radiator
Didn't think much of the meals. The evening meals, looked fancy but were pretty average in flavour wise, mine was incredibly salty. Breakfasts were OK but you could tell that some of what was served had been sitting around for some time

Great location. Food was excellent and staff very helpful and pleasant. Hotel very clean and comfortable.
WiFi was poor in bedroom.
