We checked in late and the bar staff were lovely on arrival and provided us with lots of information. I liked that it was a seperate little unit. It had a beautiful view looking out over the water and a little patio outside with chairs. Heaps of space in the room. It was Easter weekend we stayed at the gave us little Easter eggs which I thought was adorable.
The only downfall was there wasn’t much utensils in the kitchen as we brought food to cook and there wasn’t any sharp knives, tongs, etc. but I did love that they had a stove top to be able to cook on.

Beds were clean and comfortable. Nice seating area outside. Continental breakfast was included which set us up well for the day. The view of the Hokianga was pretty spectacular. Also right next to the takeaways, where the fish n chips are highly recommended.
Staff were a bit preoccupied at check-in so had to wait. Although the unit was clean and comfortable, it was pretty dated.

The doors squeaked in the corridors as anyone left or entered their rooms. A bit of oil wouldn't go a miss.

The motel-style unit up behind the pub was sunny and quiet.
The pub ran out of food for their pizza menu having told us that they would offer this later in the evening. They did produce fish and chips though so we were happy enough.

Good location directly at the sea. Well equipped room. Our room even had a small terrace/veranda. Bar linked to the hotel was just an additional positive point. We would visit again.
Cleanliness in the breakfast room could be better. Showe should be properly repaired.

Handy location and pickup for Waipoua forest tour.
View out over estuary.
Clean sheets and towels and comfortable bed.
Huge old cobwebs in bathroom.
Aged and smelly carpets throughout. Infestation of black crickets at night - took a while to get rid of them

Beautiful location. Its a magic part of the world.

Location opposite the beach
Decor very tired with worn carpets and damp smell. The room looks onto the bins and backyard of the fish and chips shop next door. Meal at pub was terrible and 4 items listed on menu were not available.

the location was amazing right opposite the water.
Lack of service it took us ages to find a staff member. There was no one on reception. The restaurant service was non existence -finally found a menu and the staff member said they were only serving pizzas that night. After further investigation we identified ourselves as in-house guests, so they immediately produced a menu and asked us what we would like to order!! The breakfast food was OK but there was no cutlery available, no serviettes, no glasses - I had fruit juice in a coffee mug?

Grateful for the room upgrade. The view was amazing
Unfortunately, even though I had paid for breakfast and advised staff we would be leaving early when we came to have breakfast there was no milk to have our cereal with or bread and we left hungry.

location was good
Facility was dated and light bulb was dead in the bathroom. At these rates I would expect modern facilities or a rate befitting the tiredness of the property
