Such a hidden place on earth! I’ve seen quite a lot accommodations around the world. But this place is special. The team is doing such a lot to feel you comfortable. The connection to other travelers is great to share travel stories! For sure the room and the garden are great to spend some time during your Copper train trip. The food is so good. Highly recommend!

The way you are treated! every single person at Paraíso del Oso will go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and unforgettable! a few examples:
My mom got sick and Raúl asked Jaime to go and get her some medicine. Jaime, went to the doctor himself and asked for the right medicine!
Jaime is the best guide you can have! he took us on a trip to the little town of Urike and the whole trip was super entertaining and informative! Jaime is very well versed in history of the region and the region itself so if you’ve got a question or want to learn more, Jaime is your best option!
Raúl made sure that our stay was the best, even when we changed the itinerary, he made sure we experienced the best to offer!
And the rest of the staff, are pure sweethearts that were always making sure we had the best time!
The rooms are impeccable! and trust me, that is not an easy task given the amount of dust you can get up here! the shower is warm and relaxing, and at night, because it was still chilly, we got that light d of stove/chimney that kept us warm like three little pancakes!
Seriously, I am not exaggerating, if your plan is to make the most out of Barrancas, make Paraíso del Oso your base and from there they will make your trip much more richer than you could’ve expected or done it yourself!
ps. and the food!!! that discada (meat dish but also with options for vegetarians and vegans!) with hand made flour tortillas!! to die for!

I very much liked the old-style lodge style. This is a family enterprise and everyone, from grandfather to granddaughters were eager to make new friends and share a good time with us. The location is pretty, without being spectacular, but the region has many places to visit and the lodge organized some great excursions for us.

One of the highlights of our trip through the copper canyon! I highly recommend staying here all of the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The hotel also offers great tours/hikes through the area and itself is located in a very nice and peaceful area outside of Cerocahui.
Nothing comes to mind.

Very homely friendly part of the real Mexico. Lovely homecooked food, roaring fires, perfectly tranquill setting and the possibilty of adventure in the form of a rattle over the summit to the beautiful village of Urique with Hugo. Think Mexican Brigadoon! Not for the faint hearted though, as the mountain road is no motorway - it reaches some 5500 feet above the valley floor!
Would have been better closer to the village of Cerocahui, but then it would lose its tranquility. You can’t have everything. No bears unfortunately. And some kind of sweet pancake with bacon and maple syrup for breakfast one day. Yuk! Must be an american thing. Not for us I’m afraid.

The staff is AMAZING! Everyone was super kind, they treated as family, explained a lot of the history of the place, the tour to El Gallego was really good. We really enjoyed our stay and we definitely stay there again. The food was delicious.

We really felt at home because of the atmosphere in the hotel and the personal attention of Diego the owner and his staff. The location is great to explore the region and Diego has a huge amount of knowledge on the region and a strong binding with the local community so we received a lot of advice on things to do.
The price is not the lowest, but it was definitely worth it.
