Lovely spa. Nice room. The breakfast was tasty.
The hotel is a little tired and could do with a spruce up to live up to its promise. The service was fine, without being great.

It was a most enjoyable stay in a hotel that was much better than I expected. The staff were amazing and I was particularly grateful to be spontaneously offered a room upgrade on arrival.
4.1
The reception team and Manager were all very kind. We went for my husband’s birthday and they kindly upgraded us the room and left a birthday card with fudge for him - I really appreciated this!
The room was clean with tea/coffee options available.
We had a dinner at the Orangery restaurant at the hotel and we were very disappointed.
A quite pricey restaurant with a very poor quality of food and really small portions. We chose a homemade bread with butter while we we’re waiting for our mains - they brought us the butter and we’re waiting like 20min for the bread to come which was definitely not homemade. 12% discretionary service charge was added to the bill for a very poor service.
The next morning we went for breakfast (we had booked a b&b) and I asked the waiter whether they have a buffet available or we should order and he mentioned that there is a buffet available and there is a hot menu available as well to order. We sat down, opened the menu placed at every table and noticed that the hot breakfast was changed at £17 hence we only went for the buffet. It was our bad for not asking whether the hot breakfast was included in what we had already paid but unfortunately no one made this clear to us saying that please ignore the pricing or sth like that.

Loved the spa. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Would certainly stay again.
WiFi a bit patchy.

Lovely friendly staff. Great location. Clean facilities.
I treated myself to a short little break away and was so pleased I chose the spa hotel. I stayed in one of the suites and it was just perfect. Ate dinner and breakfast which was so lovely and a great choice on offer.
I booked a 55 min aromatherapy massage which was amazing. Staff in spa were lovely.
I loved the property and would definitely stay again.
The only thing I was slightly disappointed with was the duration of my massage. I went in slightly early (got to the spa reception at 16:45, so it was probably about 16:55 by the time the massage started. Then when I left the spa after my treatment the time was 17:37 so I think the treatment had probably finished at 17:30.
It was an amazing treatment so no complaints there but for the money paid I would’ve appreciated it being the 55 mins advertised.

Lovely staff and atmosphere, perfect location, good breakfast.
Not enough English breakfast teabags and milk in the room.

The staff were welcoming and polite. The room was spacious and had the added benefit of a balcony overlooking the garden. Great for a quiet cup of tea. The swimming pool was a lovely addition enabling a relaxing swim after we had arrived.
We were particularly impressed with the beautiful gardens enabling a quiet stroll in the morning after a lovely breakfast.

Nothing to dislike

Location
lack of trained staff- afternoon tea was rushed
poor quality breakfast - very expensive

Comfy and cosy room nice large shower room
Unfortunately the room was right night to the stairs off the landing and we heard everyone walking pass in the morning and cleaners as well. The room was very tiny and the curtain was just a pull cord up and down with no blind so hard to change in a dark room with blind down need a dim switch to control lighting if it was possible.

Beautiful hotel with charming staff. Lovely double room. Had lunch with a friend in The Orangery and it was delicious. Also what a treat to have freshly cooked breakfast brought to your table and not having to queue to dip your tea bag! I am old school I know but fantastic staff. Waiting for a facial in The Spa now before the long drive home.

We got a free upgrade to a lovely large room. Very comfortable with great décor and fittings.
Excellent breakfast cooked to order
Conveniently located near the town with a 15 minute walk across the common downhill and a 5 minute bus ride back uphill!

All the hotel staff were friendly, welcoming, polite, attentive and efficient.
Everywhere was clean to a very high standard and the decor was fresh.
The food was excellent. I had the best, melt in the mouth, perfectly cooked steak for my birthday treat. Thank you chef.
Thank you, you made my stay!
The choice and range of food at dinner was limited.
Unable to have a coffee after dinner one night as the machine was being cleaned (about 21.30)
I unnecessarily ordered a side of potatoes one evening as the menu description didn't say they were included with the meal and the waitress didn't know if they were or not.
A mix up with the booking dates for my massage meant I didn't get the treatment I wanted as I was 'squeezed in' to their work schedule.

The Spa Hotel was very nicely decorated and comfortable

The staff were very friendly and the entrance hall and reception area was lovely.
The Spa facilities being included with the stay was nice, but they were very small and gendered saunas meant I couldn't be in the sauna with my wife which seemed a little odd.
The room and bathroom were HUGE with complimentary tea, coffee and water.
Tina the manager was very helpful and gave us a complimentary drink for the issues (below) and also the staff had given us truffles to celebrate our anniversary which was sweet.
The hotel is looking very tired and needs some investment to renovate.
Our carpets in the room were stained, worn and clearly very old.
We had stains on the bed sheets, and towels which we complained about - new towels were then brought to us, which again had stains...
The bed was two single beds pushed together which for the price we paid, was disappointing.
I emailed the management to address these issues and there was no further compensation or refunds given as they felt they had already responded appropriately with the issues.
Overall we were very underwhelmed and disappointed with our experience and wouldn't look to come back. What clearly was a stunning venue has sadly begun to wear away with time.
It wasn't the luxury anniversary getaway we hoped for when booking.

I felt this was a well-run hotel. All the staff were most pleasant and helpful. These things come from the top, so thanks to the management for this. Breakfast was very good. The spa was very comfortable and relaxed. I would certainly come again.
I would like to have known sooner that you could have snacks in the bar.
