This was our favourite hotel on our trip around Umbria & Tuscany. We would definitely stay again. Booked last minute, not realising what a gem I had found. Recommended by Mr & Mrs Smith & The Telegraph. Beautifully and tastefully furnished. Owners and staff were absolutely delightful. Food in the restaurant, fantastic. All better quality and half the price of the properties we found in Tuscany.
I wish we had stayed a little longer.

This is our favorite place when staying in Umbria and we have been staying there several times now. We had all different kinds of rooms and everyone was beautifully furnished and spacious. All rooms are quiet, as the Marmotta is situated in the middle of green fields but not more than 15min drive from Spoleto center. The breakfast and restaurant area is very nice and the selection good including the meal options at lunch/dinner. The honesty bar is a good and fair choice for having drinks in the evening.
The pool area and garden are the highlights of this place. Very well maintained, always clean and enough space. We will always keep coming back to this beautiful place!
Sometimes sunbeds are reserved by guests without anyone showing up in the end. Otherwise everything perfect!

Lovely location lovely room fantastic pool
We didn't feel particular welcomed at the restaurant . We felt we were given the least favourable table and were overlooked whilst local people who come to eat were favored. This was really obvious to us. The people who waited tables were very helpful. It was the owner who made us feel this way.

spacious grounds, lovely lounges with great honesty bar. very comfortable rooms. friendly staff.
beware no indoor tables for breakfast and dinner so lots and lots of insect bites - take strong bug spray and mosquito nets for the bedrooms. pool wasn’t kept that clean of insects - would be good to have a net at the poolside so that guests could quickly scoop up debris before a swim. beware pool setup is really for an adult stay, not for children as the pool is deep throughout. restaurant - very tasty food but service in the evening perhaps not great - no apology really when incorrect food orders brought out. no stove stop in room as advertised, but as it was 35 degrees not needed anyway. beware - booking amended by hotel (cancelled Friday night due to a wedding party that had been forgotten about) - fine for us but might not have been for others

This is an absolutely Lovely place. The rooms are very comfortable, the pool is lovely, and the whole feel of the place is both casual and elegant in just the right way. It is an old farm village that has been beautifully converted with real care and skill. The honour bar is just great, and, an unexpected treat - the restaurant is superb! Most important, though, the owners and staff are professional, unbelievably kind, and simply wonderful people. Nothing is too much trouble. We came for a night and stayed a week. This is a fabulous place that gets Casual Elegance just right.
Nothing. It's perfect.

Lovely breakfast, staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was quiet and very comfortable. We also bought some of their own olive oil which was delicious.
We didn't use it but there is a lovely guest lounge area as well and a beautiful pool.
We will definitely be back.
Nothing - I couldn't fault it.

The location, the building and facilities. The rooms are authentically furnished. The building is a beautifully renovated farm.
The food in the restaurant was splendid. There is no wine list and only house wine is available. No one explained to us that there is a set price for dinner including wine.
We ordered a junior suite and got a two bedroom suite of circa 60m2.
When we arrived in the afternoon and asked for a dinner table reservation in the evening the reception lady just said that there was a party, no availability. She didn't offer assistance for alternative.
The welcome was more like in an cheap airport hotel.
The staff in general is not very welcoming. The only exception being the lady that serves breakfast.
The bathroom furniture and fixtures is 1990ies and is very tired outdated. (See photos) The showerhead sprays everywhere but on your head.

Maybe we had some trouble with the AC at some point but nothing dramatic.

Beautiful place, serene & calm. So much attention to detail, it really is flawless in design and presentation. Delicious buffet breakfast outside on a terrace & evening meal. Honesty bar for drinks. Easy going, relaxed yet elegant. Highly recommend.
Shower head in bathroom broken, bit surprised by this. As with many historic houses in Italy, there were quite a few steps up to the room which is part of the charm, but a struggle with heavy luggage. Guests with mobility issues might want to request ground floor room.

Beautiful location, well maintained building and rooms and really friendly staff.
While the food at the restaurant was excellent, it would have been nice to have seen a little more variety on the menu as often it didn’t change from day to day.
