The bedroom was really spacious and clean and the hotel is also a local pub so didn't have to go far for an evening drink, mcdonald's tesco and a few other shops in walking distance,
DO NOT EAT AT THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT
Walking into the hotel through the really busy local pub entrance was slightly off putting, we were looked at asif we had landed in from Mars, to then be greeted by an member of staff that didn't even say hello, check in was fast but really unwelcoming and they definitely need to invest in some new bar staff.
I'd definitely not go here again and only recommend this hotel If your a local to the pub,
My main complaint was how unwelcome I felt as if I was putting them out by being there.

The bed coveds were very good and heated very well under them, despite the cold in the room
The room was not heated, we turned on the heat, but the room remained kind of cold. The heat was turned off totally during the night.

We had to carry our luggage 1 floor up the stairs (would be better to mention on post).
We were leaving at 10am and there was no one to give the room key, receptionist should have told us at night where to leave it. we hid it at the pub downstairs (reception was locked) and called later to tell them where.

Location
We have stayed here about 4 or 5 times now with never any Issues. However on this occasion it was quite poor. The room had 3 beds crammed into a smallish space with no bedside tables. The rooms heater did not work and was replaced with a small oil filled portable one. The bathroom floor was sticky, and the right hand shower door was not fitted to the screen correctly at the bottom or broken. and black mould was present within the shower.
