Good value for money. Beds comfy, shower was nice and powerful. Great location for climbing Scafell (about 20 mins away) and other lovely hikes. Was able to check in later too, which was a bonus.
Did request two single beds, but was given a double. Wasn't too bad in the end though, shattered after day of hiking.

Fantastic location and stunning garden & views. Roomy and we’ll set up. Lovely bath. Bed were comfortable and tea/coffee & snacks were adequate. Staff were friendly and helpful!
The rooms were very cold and radiator heating was inadequate.
I would have liked direct communication from management to advise about the kitchen facilities available and to be made aware of the temperature of rooms (during winter): it would have helped me prepare better and bring our own food & more suitable clothing & pyjamas.

When we did not have a front door key or a key to the room complex, one of the staff came to the pub we were dining at (The Boot Inn) came and gave us a key.
The floors were not well hoovered. The bathroom had some mould.

The garden and the surrounding area is stunning.
The overall condition of the property was quite old and probably needed a renovation. That said the vibe was quite the thing.

Our second time at this great hostel. Very dog friendly. Spacious, well equipped kitchen. Countless walks from doorstep. Will return
Pillows could do with replacing and plastic pillow protectors replaced with cotton ones.

The location was amazing and the kitchen area was very good, really nice to use and lots of space.
The room was called "deluxe" however it was two beds pushed together unlike the photos of a king bed and as described. The beds and pillows had plastic covers which were loud and uncomfortable plus all the bedding was ill fitting so would not stay in place throughout the night so you would be on the plastic sheets. There was no where to hang towels after a shower as the rack was missing from the wall.

The kitchen and common rooms were well equipped and cosy. The bedrooms were big and comfortable.
No remote control for our bedroom TV which meant I couldn't watch TV as I rely on subtitles, and no coat hangers in the wardrobes.
6.0
The lounge and kitchen facilities were great, lots of room.
The rooms were very shabby, could do with a thorough clean and fresh paint.
Bathroom walls and ceiling abit mouldy.
TV in one room didn't work.
Booking in was a bit of a shambles after an 8hr drive and arriving at 9pm with 2 children. Not all room keys were left out, no staff on reception and young girl on other end of the phone was trying to be helpful, but she had never been to Stanley House so didn't know where our rooms were or the keys! Eventually figured out we needed more keys from behind the desk!
Thought it was a little on the expensive side for what we got.

The 2 bedroom suite and self catering ideal for family. Unusual to get this for short stays.
