Lovely bungalow in a really nice setting, stayed with my husbands, friends and their children as we were their for a wedding.
The bungalow was lovely and well set up for all our needs. The children were really impressed with the selection of toys and games.
The area was beautiful right next to the church, and Ilam park which looks beautiful!
Only negative were the beds looked much comfier than they actually were, the springs in the double bed could be heard when moving (could do with being replaced).
But in comparison to the hotel prices in the area, this lovely bungalow was well priced, and was lovely to be able to have the extra space for us to chill out and catch up.
It would be nice to go back one day and explore the area, and if I do I would definitely book the bungalow again.

We had a lovely stay but it would have been so much better if all the spiders had been removed from the bungalow- they were everywhere!
Lovely hosts & nice stay there.

Would we stay again....most definitely!

Have stayed at this cottage in Ilam 4 times now. The cottage is always clean and tidy. The location is amazing and check in and out process is very simple.
Only small thing I would say could be improved is the wifi. The property does have good Wi-Fi, but it doesn’t reach into the bedrooms. Can be a bit frustrating if you are travelling with children. Could just do with a WiFi extender in the hallway so the signal reaches into the bedrooms.

We stayed for two nights and agree with the other reviews. It is a large and spacious cottage which is well equipped and in a great location to explore all that the Peaks has to offer. It is also great value. As per the other reviews its decor is slightly dated and the double bed could be more comfortable. Oh yes salt and pepper and cooking oil would be a bonus too, but overall a definite 5 star.
The only real negative which doesn’t detract from the cottage itself is that we felt on one occasion when returning from a day out that we were sharing the cottage as we found the local vicar and colleague in the garden who was also using the bench on the front porch. Unfortunately while I’m sure they meant well, it felt like our privacy had been invaded.

Stayed several times. Good location for walks. Well equpped. Comfy. A bit shabby chic but suited us. Only downside of location is no shop or pub in village. Take enough milk and you have to dtive to eat out in the evening.

The property is well equipped and in a lovely location. Plenty of internal space. It is a little dated, however this made it homely and comfortable.

Very clean property with everything needed for a holiday. Let down by a few things, a broken toilet seat, broken dining chair and a smell of sewage in the ensuite. Shame really as everything else was great.

Thank you for a lovely stay, after a quick journey after a busy day at Alton towers we found our way through some disgruntled sheep to the bungalow. Very tired and had a great rest ready for day two at AT. The place is SO well equipped we were even surprised to find egg cups for our egg and soldiers which is a major plus! My little one loved the kiddy corner and felt very grown up at the little chair.
Thanks again and we shall be returning for our annual towers trip.

This property is very well equipped and super spacious. This is the second time I have stayed here and would definitely stay again. It’s near Alton towers. I stayed with a baby and a 10 and 8 year old and we all loved it. The beds have all been replaced so made for a much more comfortable stay. Property is very well equipped and in a gorgeous location with stunning views. Nothing is more than a 15 min drive - shops, towns, Alton towers etc but it’s lovely and peaceful where the property is located with lovely walks. Great value for money and highly recommend. Thanks to our host Jo for all her help and will definitely see you again 😊

Fantastic week in this beautifully located bungalow. Comfortable stay and everything we needed. Worth noting that there is absolutely no mobile phone signal in the village - we travelled some distance outside before it was restored.

This area is perfect! Perfect for visiting Alton Towers or walking in the hills. The view from the bungalow is beautiful annd so is the garden and there is plenty of space. Unfortunately the beds are horrible! When we booked I questioned the manager as previous reviews had mentioned the beds and was told she needed permission from the diocese and was hopeful they would say yes. That obviously didn’t happen because they were horrible with thin hard ancient mattresses and the cheapest of duvets and pillows. Only the main bed was made up on arrival so be prepared to have to do a load of bed making when you get there. Everything about the place is cheap and tired and it feels like there will be no spending on the place till people stop going. It’s a real shame because it’s a beautiful setting and could be perfect.

We all , adults and children , really enjoyed our stay in a great area , with lovely open views to the rear. Grand children happy in the garden and walks from the property . Sheep with lambs , rabbits , birds all helped create a peaceful relaxing time.
The bungalow was well equipped , with plenty of cooking and serving items etc . Some of the decoration is a bit tired but didnt spoil our experience . We are definitely hoping to return .

Perfect base for visiting Alton Towers. House had everything we needed for our 2 night stay. Mattresses not comfortable but it wasn't a big deal considering everything else was good. Would recond it.

A group of 4 X 62+ year olds we had a wonderful stay. The bungalow isn't luxurious but had everything we needed. Some said the mattresses on the single beds were rather hard and uncomfortable; I was in the double bed which was very comfortable. A great property in a spectacular location with access to superb walks.

Lovely property quiet location. We stayed just after Christmas over new year and was lovely to have Christmas decorations up. Was surprised how big the place was, was plenty of space and great that 3 bedrooms were separate to one bedroom as my husband and I could stay at one end with our kids and then parents at their own space at the other end of the hallway.

I booked this cottage for my birthday weekend as a base to travel to Alton Towers for a fun run on the Sunday. It is really well situated at the southern end of the Peak District. The cottage was warm, clean and comfortable. It was very well appointed for families, with plenty of books and games available. The Ilam wordsearches were a nice touch.
The check in and check out processes were well explained.
Thank you for a lovely weekend.
