Very quaint. Lots of charm.

Very awkward bathroom, especially low ceiling.
Breakfast disappointing. Limited choice, No fruit juice

No much.
My room had the kitchen extractor immediately outside the window. Very noisy until it was turned off about 8:40pm. Was very hot day. So no open window. And the extractor fan (large industrial piping was huge - So no views. Also I had the unexpected fire escape (actual set of stairs), in my room. Bit off putting really.
Breakfast was all out of a packet with very little choice.
Also - property was locked when I arrived and note in window telling me to check in either before 3pm or after 6pm.
Plus no car park.

Amazing room - we had the Harvey room with the stunning 4 poster bed and beautiful bathroom!! Perfect for the two of us 😁
The staff were extraordinarily welcoming and the bar was great to drink in. Plus the gorgeous pub doggy!!
Centre of Alfriston, perfect after a long walk!
Not a huge amount of veggie dinner options, but really thats the only criticism i can think of at a push!!

The room was really lovely - comfortable, spacious, very clean and with loads of charm and character. The pub is a beautiful place in a lovely village, and the atmosphere and service in the bar were great. The dinner was very nice with lots of choice from a nice menu, with local beers. The bar staff were attentive and friendly.
Small things, but we'd had an email saying check in from 5 only to get there - after a long day of walking - and find we had to wait another hour until 6. Not a huge issue, but a bit of an inconvenience. And while the breakfast was nice, simple with cereal, fruit and toast, there was only instant coffee, no juice and left to help yourself onto bare tables. As I say, these sound very petty things, and it didn't spoil what was a nice stay, but when the room is £145 for one night, a cup of decent coffee might have been possible. But thanks to the team for making us feel very welcome, and for a really

nice old building. lovely location. the bedroom was clean.
It’s understaffed. we were told the bar closed at 9 so we had to go elsewhere for the evening and then let ourselves into the pub and lock the door behind us. The room was not as in the pictures but at the back with the sound of the kitchen ventilation and no view just ventilation pipes and a wall. Breakfast unstaffed, no fresh coffee, no herbal tea, no cooked breakfast. basically for us there was no breakfast. other residents felt the same, we had to wait for the lovely village shop next door to open at 9 before we could set off walking.

Tiny room, tiny bathroom, broken shower fixture, awful breakfast, instant coffee.

charming and great location
nothing I can think of

Reception was good. Politely greeted and encouraged to have a drink and lunch at our leisure.
The evening meal was poor. The curry was tasteless. The whole establishment was very cold, even with the heating on. TV reception was poor.
9.0
The breakfast was a bit basic but we did know that it was not going to be a cooked breakfast
A cooked breakfast would be the only thing that would help to make our stay better

location 'steeped' in history---an amazing sloping room
would have liked the bar to be open a little longer and to have had the option of a 'full english' but it is what it is. A quiet Sunday night and still coming ot of Covid with lack of staff I presume.

Dinner. One of the two rooms.
The breakfast was very disappointing and there were no staff in attendance. We felt embarrassed beside two American and two Swedish guest who would have, clearly, appreciated the traditional English breakfast.
Sliced bread in its poly bag, 3 Aldi yoghurts between 8 guests, no orange juice, instant help-your-self coffee, weetabix or cornflakes.

it’s full of character and a little quirky

Nice, clean comfortable room.
Would have liked the availability of a "Full English". The Continental was adequate but no more.
Lack of close parking particularly as we were there in a very wet period. The supposedly available parking outside the property was taken up the majority of the time with tradesmen's vehicles........

Very quaint old inn. Very nice room. Large bathroom.
Shower difficult to operate - water a little too hot for comfort.
Continental breakfast a bit limited.

Very friendly welcome with good advice about local points of interest, Very nice quiet spacious room with loads of character. Nice beer garden at the rear, weather permitting
There is no dedicated parking or street parking outside. The nearest public car park is 250m away. Although it is possible to leave a car there overnight (spaces permitting), there is a three hour free limit.
The continental breakfast served between 8 -9am was a little meager considering the price of the room and could easily be improved. Only sachets of instant coffee with hot water available.

Beautiful village abd really old pub. We had a great night chatting to the landlady and one of the locals downstairs as we drank beer and ate good food before we slept well. A lively evening.

The room is great. Spacious for a family of 4, with proper beds for all. All very comfy. Bathroom lovely too.
No proper coffee at breakfast! just sachets. Curtain on window was white and very see through, so everyone woke up early as it was summer time. Could do with a blackout blind please to help kids lie in. thank you. otherwise. all great.
