Nice descriptions of the onsen to help foreigners with Japanese customs; friendly staff; nice Japanese-style rooms
Unfortunately, there was no longer traditional Japanese breakfast available when we checked in; communication through Booking.com was non-existent.

The breakfasts and the dinners were amazing. Wonderful delicious variety and warm friendly service. The onsen was my favorite on my trip to Japan. It was very nice to have the traditional indoor gender separated facility but to also have the outdoor beautiful mixed gender as well.
I realize that I am a bit old to sleep on futons.

Very nice onsen and super helpfull hotel staff. Beautifull area and location. They helped us with our luggage and arranged for a car to take us to the trailhead to climb mt yakedake.
Limited breakfast choise

the wonderful spas(onsen) and the beautiful view from the room
you should be careful the closing hour of the restaurants near the hotel.

The breakfast was limited choices small portion.

The location in the middle of the hills and nature equipped with fantastic hot springs and the spa. There is a section separate men from women and also a mixed gender section. This is a rare case when reality is better than the pictures of the hotel. An outstanding service, very friendly and professional.

nice hot spring, especially the cave
breakfast wasn’t worth the money. Didn’t had dinner but after just trying the breakfast, I would probably skip it

beautiful location. Amazing Onsen
a bit hard to get to
9.0
The location, the hot spring, including the fact that it was available all night (most of other hotels/ryokans close the onsen at midnight)
Perhaps an arrangement for men to be able to use the large outdoor onsen beyond 10 pm on some days could have been worked out. Also there were some issues with the WiFi in the room, we needed to ask them to reset the modem a few times (when we figured out the reason for not working) in order to be able to use it. Also cost was on our higher end for room only; had it not been for the discount from booking.com, we would have probably not stayed there...

Beautiful outdoor onsen

The location was good between Shinhotaka and Kamikochi. I did not use the onsen, but it looked very nice.
When I checked in at 10 pm my room was not ready and I had to wait 20 minutes. I prepaid for the room and when I check in there was a sheet explaining in English that all I needed to do was leave the keys on the desk at check out. When I went to check out at 5:30 am they stopped me and told me to wait. 15 minutes later they said I owed 300 yen more for local taxes. This delay made me miss my bus and made me late all day. I am very frustrated with how the whole check-in and check-out process was handled. I would not stay here again.

Extremely clean, beautiful onsen/hot spring. Staff was very polite and accommodating. Will definitely go again

Exceeded our expectations. Room was spacious, a bit old but clean and had great mountain / river views.
Japanese dinner course and breakfast were super delicious. Onsen also amazing. Totally recommended

Nice onsen. Lots of green around the hotel. Very good hair dryer in the room.
After 3 night’s stay late check out (at 12:00) was impossible. Restaurant food could be much better. Cleaning service enters your room without any notice (knocking). No cards ‘Do not disturb’. Omg, 2nd floor was completely dark at 9pm (that was scary when elevator stopped to pick up another person and the doors opened into the pitch darkness). Far from the bus terminal (buses go rarely). Didn’t really feel that anyone was happy to see me at their hotel.

Located in a very beautiful place, nice staff, convenient rooms and an amazing onsens.
Must go!!!
The food was new to me and I didn't like it so much. But my friend liked it.
