service good and the food was lovely, i would go back there again
food a bit expensive but lovely
3.1
Felt safe, was fairly clean and lots of parking.
Bed was quite uncomfortable and very squeaky. One of our rooms had a ensuite bathroom with a door but the other ones had either the shower in the bedroom(!!), an ensuite with no door or a bathroom across the corridor (and my friend accidentally got locked out of his room when using this and his room door closed accidentally). This should be made clear when booking.
Noise travelled a lot.
For the price, it was a poor standard.

Great location

Very quirky, lovely comfortable rooms.
TV did not work, not a big problem as we were out most of the time but would have liked to catch Glastonbury when we got back.
3.1
Convenient location close to A3. Single room comfortable for a nights rest.
There was a pump running over night quite softly but loud enough to interfere with sleep. I checked in the morning and found the ‘pump’ positioned at the rear of the building.

Lovely staff, room was fine, dinner great
Room was a bit small but wasn’t a problem
3.1
Dinner was good but pricey. Found next morning they did not do breakfast
Room No 8 was a pokey hole. Towel rail electrical connections uncovered. Toilet& wash hand basin small & cramped. Shower did not work ( No shower facility for 2 days)
3.1
The location was good. The main building and outdoor areas were very good. The evening meals were very good.
The bedroom was rather cramped and could have done with some updating. There was no breakfast service, so we had to go out for breakfast.
3.1
Food in pub was excellent
Electric Shower not good , and bathroom a bit rusty , deserve some improvements.
TV signal not very good neither
3.1
The fact that our hosts agreed to move us into a new room for the second night of the stay as the first night had been horrendous.
As we were there for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day we were informed that no breakfast would be served on either morning and the staff weren't particularly forthcoming in suggesting where we could find meals. The bathroom was tiny and the separate shower was virtually part of the bedroom. All night long, pipes groaned and smelly fumes belched from the shower drain into our room. The mattress was so uncomfortable that a hammock would have offered more support. Our groundfloor room was so noisy it was as though a herd of baby elephants had taken up residence in the room above and they kept going all night.

The location was great for my work. The room was clean and warm.
A bit small room
3.1
Good positioning for our purpose
one room was very cold and no provision for breakfast

nice bar terrace area.
room too small. animal hairs in room.
3.1
Great set up with rooms across the car park from the pub. really friendly staff.
room didn’t feel secure. window didn’t shut properly
3.1
Nice handy location on the A3. Small comfortable room., had everything I needed. Forgot to ask in the pub for the WiFi code on arrival and could of done with it when I got back from night out. Would of been helpful if it was written on a card
Room being next to the laundry and having washing machines spinning late at night
3.1
location was excellent for access to A3/M25
building is old and the window did not feel safe and secure.

Owners trying to get the place sorted - doing a good job so far.
Room was a bit small and quaint. Other rooms available and wasn’t full, would have been nice to have a little bigger room.
3.1
Meal in pub was extremely good. Room was clean.
Room had seen better days. Plaster coming off walls. Toilet was difficult to flush. Hot tap was either full on or dribbling. Shower was only for thin people. Person upstairs sounded as though coming through ceiling when he/she returned at 11.30pm
3.1
Bedroom was ok, bed was comfortable
The bathroom…desperately needed updating…system very slow to fill…loo roll holder fell off the wall. Knob fell of the light switch..very grubby..had to ask for loo rol as very little left on the left.
Very bad reception on TV. Gave up in the end..unwatchable

I wasn't told where my bathroom was on arrival though granted it might have been obvious as across passage. It only has a small "VC" on the door whatever that means. I had returned to the squirrel about 9;40 in the evening and was looking forward to a nightcap only to be told by the bar staff that they had closed in a fairly curt manner. Option for breakfast would have been good

Dinner was good. we opted too forego breakfast however a lady arrived to my room with Croissant and jam.
The room was comfortable enough!!!
The pub itself was lovely with a great choice to beers and wines. The whole ambiance of the pub and its ,surrounding buildings was lovely. In fairness to Paul and Gwyneth they have recently bought the pub and the fact that renovations are needed this was reflected in the price of a night's stay. I'm sure with a lot of TLC the whole place could be a fabulous place to stay.
The room was very cold although an electric heater had been provided. The front door to the cottage did not shut thereby allowing a roaring draught in!
The bathroom was dilapidated, very cold, the taps were falling off the basin!
The room was clean however I didn't have a shower incase that fell off the wall !
3.1
ease of parking, price and location
no soundproofing and very creaky floorboards so heard every footstep of people above, shower in room gave no privacy.

It was easy check in and out, plenty of parking, nice pub with good menu.
I don’t normally leave reviews but I felt obliged this time. Upon being shown to my room I was told that breakfast wasn’t currently available at the property. Interestingly it does state ‘free breakfast’ when you look them up on google maps. Good job I was working close by and could get breakfast there as there were no other immediate options. Upon closer inspection of the room I found damp and mouldy walls behind the bed. The heating didn’t work - the portable radiator provided wasn’t powerful enough to heat the room to a decent temperature. Noisy plumbing running to other rooms meaning that it was noisy whenever any other guests used water. Noisy floorboards above me - I could hear every small movement. Shower was built into what seemed to be an old cupboard - It was tiny and I had to crouch to fit into it. Water in shower was hot though the water pressure was woefully low. For £70 a night it was pretty terrible value for money. Needs some love and attention I’m afraid.
3.1
The room being small heated up quickly with the small oil filled radiator.
The bed missed most of the slats so slept with the mattress on the floor. Wifi signal not strong enough to be reliable. Front door does not shut and left open at night. Rear of a large van parked 3 feet from the door. Creaking ceiling from guests above and no sound insulation so could hear every word, and snore. Tv positioned high on the wall so could only be watched standing. Sanitiser empty. Thought twice about going to the main building when someone was loudly throwing up right outside the front door.

It was a late booking as we had to change travel plans and this place was one of the few available. The location was good, and the staff were friendly. The food was not outstanding but value for money.
since our stay I have re-read the reviews and found the recent one that calls out room 3. This is the room we were put in. The layout of the room with the shower cubicle in what appears to old Cupboard, opens straight out into the room. The toilet does not appear to have a vent. Both of these meant that the room has damp issues and felt clammy. Other reviews say the other rooms are great, so if you do stay......try not to get put in 3. However we were only there for one night so didn't kick up a fuss, but felt that we had over paid by £30! The food was okay and the staff were very pleasant.

Good value very comfortable bed for the night
