this was a really nice flat, we had the ground floor and it was perfect for what we needed. we needed to arrive early and even though check in was not till 2pm we were allowed to check in early, this was a big help since we had to be at a wedding at 1pm.
Nothing not to like about the property

it’s had all that you needed in furniture and was close to station
the position of our apartment was round the back we had cars parked outside.Whoever wanted a cigarette was right outside our window. We had blind down so just saw figure through the blinds. You offered milk but we didn’t have any or biscuits.so if you hadn’t of said we would not of expected them.

Location for attending the Great North Run was excellent as very close to the train station.

First appearances
We booked this property for one night because it was the only pet friendly location available in the area at two weeks notice.
3 hours prior to check in, I received a call from the owner, telling us that we’d be moved to apt. 3 instead of 6, as they’d double booked us.
Upon arrival we found the door frame had been drilled out and partially split where the old lock had been removed. The main communal door was also left open on the latch. We didn’t feel very secure. The owner though told us that he’d replaced the lock recently, and it was ok.
When we got in the apartment, our dog.found something to eat every few seconds, including sweet wrappers, and even an acrylic nail with the human nail attached. There was also a thick layer of grease on most of the crockery and the floor.
When we complained about the cleanliness, we were told, ‘what do you expect, we had to change apartments at short notice as you were double booked and our cleaner had to work really quickly’.
How on earth is this our problem.
I think it was at this point the owner also told us that we shouldn’t really have brought our dog, as pets were only allowed in apartment 6, not apartment 3. I did check in this question when we were first contacted about the double booking, and was told it was fine. He clearly changed his mind afterwards, but again, how on earth is this our problem.
Then there’s the parking. We did manage to get a space at the back of the apartment for a couple of hours, but when we came back later, all of the 4 spaces for 6 apartments were taken. One of these was by the estate agents that owned the property.
The instructions we were given, said that alternative parking was by the local pub (permit only) or by the newsagents (loading bay only). As such, I had no real option, but to park in a far more secure location (Feethams multi storey), a 15 minute walk away. This isn’t easy with several bags and a dog.

The apartment was lovely, very clean with everything we needed and very quiet, although we were still in lockdown. Noise levels may have been much higher on a usually Saturday Evening.
The location was in a very rough part of town and although there were 6 apartments in the block, there was only enough parking for 2 car’s. We had to park 5 mins walk away to find a place we felt happy to leave the car overnight.

Although, we loved the location for how near the town centre is. The walk says on Google maps a 15min walk to town centre. It's not, it's even closer! The local corner shop is handy to have over the road and has a lovely chatty owner.
Apartment 6 was lovely. It was well equipped, everything you need and comfortable. It does need a little maintenance. The toilet is loose (wobbles), needs re-syliconed (sealant) around the bath and it's looking mouldy and old. And painting a stain patch in the ceiling roof in the bedroom. little things to be done will make a big difference.
Location was a touch rough.

Private apartment with free parking available right outside the door. Modern & spacious. Had everything I needed for a comfortable stay with little extra touches which was nice: slippers & bath robes, plenty of towels & toilet paper, hairdryer, iron and board games. Communication from the host was quick & friendly. 2 different codes sent to me but host rectified this before my arrival so wasn’t a problem.
Attention to detail sadly let this apartment down. On first entering I noticed all the lovely air fresheners around the place-it soon became apparent that these was being used to mask the awful smell of drains that appeared to be coming from the sink area in the kitchen. The floor hadn’t been swept before I arrived as I had the company of a dead wasp on the kitchen floor! There was also lots of muck under the bed. The dishwasher still had pots & cutlery in it. The toilet had a “yellow liquid” in it. The welcome booklet had false information in it (I must have looked in the kitchen cupboards for the thermostat 3 times!!) the most annoying thing was being unable to get bbc1 and 2 on the tv-obviously to avoid paying a tv license! But during this time of the pandemic & being away from my family I wanted nothing more than to be able to watch the news 😏 the bed was too hard for me & I woke with terrible backache but this is a personal preference and not a reflection on the property-although on arriving, I found some strange dirt on the pillows? I can only think it’s fallen from the little window in the ceiling??? I feel it’s a bit pricey for the standard which is ashame as it could be almost perfect. If the tv could be sorted out, I’d definitely book again if in the area. x
