A lovely clean , very spacious room , except for some funny marks on bathroom floor .
The price we paid differed from the booking price and we had to pay more on arrival. Which wasn’t expected.
Shame there was no cooked breakfast, offered it in another location but would have to pay extra.
No communication to say in our last morning breakfast would be in a different place.

The room was nice
I was overcharged by £30 pounds even when I showed the person in charge my booking.com reservation. She just shrugged her shoulders and said I will have to claim it back from booking.com.

As good as the last time I stayed, was in a different room, lovely location and services
Sadly the bed was *very* soft - to the extent I felt I might have rolled out. Personal preference is a far firmer bed, but at least one of the double rooms has a cloud for a bed!

A lovely bed
A little noisy

The room was well presented, comfortable and clean. Lovely view of the town from bedroom window. Pub food was excellent recommend pizzas. Noise from the pub below didn't affect us. Breakfasts were good too.
There was nothing we didn't like. We were advised of any changes in advance

The cooked breakfast at The Dairy opposite was very good. The bedroom and bathroom were very comfortable and clean. Fridge in lobby we could use.
Not being told that sometimes only continental breakfast available (which is limited. No fruit or yoghurts) until a few days before arrival. Just before arrival advised no one to make bed up each day of your stay. No one there when we left so had to put key in letterbox. Pub shut one night we were there and no food available on either night.

Lovely room and bathroom, clean and comfortable
The breakfast was a huge let down, bread ,bread or bread white, brown or croissant. No fruit or yogurt. Cereal was rice crispies or coco pops!!!!Hard to call that offering a continental breakfast. The waiter was charming and apologetic but couldn't find plates so had saucer for my toast.Only tea available initially was Earl Grey until caretaker arrived and found breakfast tea.
Also my booking was for £180 with booking. com but had to pay £200,not sure why

The breakfast was good in both places. At the old dairy and the hotel.
It was disappointing that the pub closed early and dinner was not available! I have never heard that we close early because of the electricity and heating.

The room was huge, very comfortable and clean.
The staff were all smashing, friendly, helpful and efficient.
We ate in the pub in the evening and had some lovely meals.
The breakfast was good if you enjoyed a cooked breakfast but as a vegetarian who didn't particularly won't cooked items it was limited, no fruit, yogurt or pastries.
The rooms aren't serviced which didn't bother us and coffee n tea replenishments were left on the landing for us, but considering this and the limited breakfast we felt the room rate of over £100 was rather expensive

staff were phenomenal with me and my family and went above and beyond my expectations. Everyone was so friendly.

Room was large and spacious.
The room was over the bar entrance where drinkers go out to smoke and joke around.
noise and cigarette smoke permeate into the bed room.
Parking limited.
Breakfast arrangements very disorganised. had to book and then they'd change the time.
Breakfast quality variable - of the 3 breakfasts taken, 2 were OK, 1 was poor; the food was very dry as though it had been pre-cooked and kept warm for a long time.

The breakfast was truly excellent.
The room , which was spacious , and furnished so that it would have been a pleasant place to spend a rainy afternoon .
The noisy young below my bedroom window - until well after midnight .

Chulmleigh village is a very pretty spot and The Red Lion itself is a great pub and B&B.
The room was a great size for us as a couple with and en-suite (shower had great water pressure) and hot drink making facilities; it was well kept and clean on arrival and the guest information book holds some interesting local history anecdotes, the menu for the Pub's restaurant and even some local walking routes.
Breakfast options in the morning were plentiful and their Full English breakfast is lovely.
As for evening food (booking in their restaurant) they have a varied menu with something for everyone. Our first night we dined in and had a Goat's cheese pizza, Hunter's Chicken Burger with chips and onion rings and it was all delicious.
The staff were friendly, polite and very accommodating and we were welcomed very warmly and shown our room, facilities, fire exits and residents entrance for after-hours access to the B&B rooms. We were asked for our preferred breakfast service time and booked in accordingly.

The food was good, although I asked for a rare steak and I got a well cooked one
The rooms i asked for were two rooms for three people, the room i got was a room was two single beds that were well worn and a z bed that was four feet in length, very uncomfortable and for the third person to sleep in for 3 nights. They knew it was three people yet did not provide for them. I am in the process of making a formal complaint with the view of speaking to trading standards

Welcoming stay at The Red Lion. Kat the Manager, bar and kitchen staff were very friendly making our 2 night stay very enjoyable. Breakfasts and evening meal were excellent. For a mid week break The Red Lion had a steady flow of locals and was nice to chat to a few. Many thanks.
