I enjoyed everything about Nettlebank during my week's stay and wouldn't hesitate to return.
My room (King room at the front of the property) was very comfortable. It had everything I needed and was spotlessly clean. Nettlebank is located in a peaceful lane just off the road that passes through Uplyme to Lyme. There's very little passing traffic and I slept really well, which is unusual for me when I'm on holiday.
Sue was a very friendly, helpful host and produced an excellent breakfast each morning. Everything was very relaxed and it felt like home from home.
There is off-road parking at the property (best to reverse in from the lane as the drive is on a slope), and Lyme is about 10 minutes' drive away. I was staying during a warm, sunny week and Lyme got very busy from mid-morning onwards. If you want to park at the Harbour (Monmouth Beach) car park, as I did, you need to get there for around 10.15 to be sure of getting a spot. It fills up quickly because it's the car park nearest to the harbour and beach.
Finally, I thought my stay at Nettlebank was very good value for money.
I have no suggestions for improvements. Nettlebank met my expectations exactly!

The location is a little remote, so very quiet at night (No traffic noise) The welcome was very friendly. The room was very clean & tidy with an ensuite shower room. The shower experience was a great - no-one likes a poor shower first thing in the morning! My room was serviced every day of my stay. Breakfasts were awesome - I can't manage a large cooked breakfast these days but Sue cooked me an awesome toasted bacon sandwich on both days which I thoroughly enjoyed. There was also a good selection of breakfast cereals available, and also hot & cold drinks. The fresh coffee was great! The view across the valley from the large picture window in the breakfast room was simply amazing! There is free WiFi available. There is plenty of space to park your car (I drive a large 4x4) You are not very far from Lyme Regis, where there are many nice places offering very good food/drinks. I would definitely book Nettle Bank again if visiting the local area.
There is nothing that I didn't like about my stay here. I stayed in January 2024 during storm Isha. It was very windy and sometimes quite wet. As there are no street lights outside Nettle Bank, I would recommend to anyone staying here during the darker months that you carry a small pocket torch to help you navigate your way down the steep driveway at night.

the location was fine; very peaceful and easy to get to/from town; lovely landlady and nothing was every a problem
very small bathroom; difficult to get dry after having an shower - not enough room; sink very small and water tended to splash on the floor; but shower was great; breakfast was OK but took ages to arrive; we were told that breakfast was at 8.30 but we never ate before 9am - landlady was lovely but talks to much instead of concentrating on cooking :( also every tap/door knob is fixed wrong way round which made things confusing to use

Breakfast was delicious. Host was lovely and easy to get along with. The view of the garden and trees from the room, and at breakfast, was beautiful.
Tea at breakfast could have been better. I was in the non en-suite room, which is why I didn't give top marks for facilities, but the bathroom was very nice.

Sue was very welcoming and accommodating to last minute changes. The room was very comfortable leading to a great nights sleep for the 3 nights we stayed. Breakfast was lovely, we even had a visit from Bambi in the garden which was a lovely way to start the day.
That I didn't get to meet the dog 🙁

Sue was very welcoming, chatty daily at breakfast which was always cooked to perfection, always asking if we required anything especially for the room, gave advise on local eateries and places to visit.
The property was exceptionally clean, the area was quiet and secluded with wonderful views from the garden, if i was revisiting the area at any time i would not hesitate to rebook at nettle bank
The bed was set up correctly with a hard mattress which would suit most couples however my wife and i have and indeed are used to a softer mattress at home so even though we slept quite well we did find we were restless throughout our stay waking during the night several times between us.

The owner Sue was a really nice person. Her cooked breakfasts were excellent, with lots of other choices on offer too. Sitting in the breakfast room in the mornings was delightful... beautiful views of the garden, and woodland beyond. Perfect, quiet location so I slept well. A short drive into Lyme, and I found free parking on the road each day.
No complaints, it suited me perfectly!

Our accommodation was a little out of Lyme Regis in a quiet location. Our room was lovely and over looked the garden to the front. Sue was a great host and provided a lovely breakfast every morning. Would recommend.
The narrow road leading to the house but that’s not the problem relating the property

Sue was the friendliest host, intelligent & interesting. The beds in the twin room were amazingly comfortable. so good, slept like logs. delicious breakfast, the shower & toilet just down the hall, but not a problem as it was just for our use.
very small tv, but really not a problem
