Beautiful building, cool history, and great location.
No internet in our room. Staff said it was “mountain” internet. I guess that means it doesn’t work. Food was not good for the price. Rooms were very small.

Location is excellent. beautiful views from many areas in the hotel - including our room! So tastefully decorated, magnificent design of the hotel/facilities overall - to blend in with the environment. Great to have various food options, and everything we had was delicious. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Due to some maintenance could only use valet parking at the hotel - that was an unexpected cost. we pretty much loved everything else, so glad we decided to stay here for a change.

It’s historical, great to be inside the park already.
It’s very expensive. Valet park only. I stayed there for the experience, but I wouldn’t stay again.

The location makes all the expense and travel well worth it. Stunningly beautiful. Majestic. The Awhanee is in the perfect location for adventurous day hikes on so many beautiful nearby trails.
My husband and I are not really fans of buffets. It was the only breakfast, dinner option in the beautiful, historic dining room.

The historical aspects and location
The staff was condescending, the room was not what we booked, the beds were not queens as quoted, and the room was quite stuffy.

Beautiful. Perfect location
Restricted dining hours.

Proximity to park features. Wood burning fireplace. Comfortable cabin. EV Charging
valet parking $30/night, options to park 1/2 mile away. Meals expensive.

Amazing location and grandeur of an old hotel
Bathroom needed some renovation as tiles wearing off

We like the the nature around the hotel and it’s architecture. The restaurant was excellent .
After a long drive through the beautiful park, we took a walk through the snow to check out the sights, but unfortunately when we checked in to our cabin it was as cold as it was outside. The little heater was not plugged in, and the wall radiator heater wasn’t even warm to the touch. We went to the front desk to complain, they sent a maintenance person and he told us there where’s nothing to do, he checked the wall radiator and said it was fine. We asked for another heater for the bathroom, but they refused to give us one more saying that the old wires couldn’t handle it. For another hand, the bed was dump and we asked for more comforters , they brought them, and we have to change the old covers and try to dry the sheets, with a hair drier. We went to dinner snd when ee came back the room was still freezing, sleeping was difficult and we felt very bad for all the experience, we didn’t leave because we didn’t have another place to go. In the morning the place was a little warmer and we decided to have a hot shower, but only one of us could do it, after one shower the water was cold.

The reception who refused to reveal his name, a senior gentleman, was disrespectful. I kept my calm for the entire conversation and as soon as I asked his name he hung up on me. I called back and ask the lady at front desk for his name and she said she does not know it and later said, Steven.
The reason that I called them was to get an update for the request I made through booking.com to get a refund of my deposit because the road to the hotel was closed due to the snow storm. They denied that the booking.com approached them. I explained that I have two email from Booking.com confirming that they approached the hotel on my behalf. The answer was: oh, ok. Then, I explained that highway 120 was closed due to snow storm and it is unfair to charge me the deposit. They said that they can not accept the request because according to them there are "ways" to reach the hotel, even when there is the warning of severe snow storm in effect.
Whether it is a valid reason to charge me $475, despite the fact that the severe weather warning was in effect and the CA-120 was closed, there is absolutely no reason for the man at the front desk to be rude and not disclosing his name while he knows my name, phone number and email address.

the place is rundown. The elevator needs paint too.

I liked our room so much. The view was spectacular with a private specious terrace overlooking the waterfall and mountains. We were lucky to witness the snowfall as well it was magical and beyond words!
Not much food options unfortunately. The Ahwanee dining room was very disappointing as well. No fresh choices and it was at all not comfortable. We drove 10 minutes to the lodge eatery and food was excellent and satisfying.
