We loved the peace and tranquility as well as the views
We weren’t there during the day but room was comfy with the fans at night
Everyone was kind and my kids loved the animals
Sun is bright through roof in the morning, was ok for us because we were getting up early but just something for others to be aware of if staying in the yurt
1.0 / 5.0
We were very excited to come to this place, especially because sleeping in a yurt in a middle of a rainforest doesn’t happen every day for us. The view behind it was amazing in the morning and the surrounding rainforest was mesmerizing. There are fans installed inside instead of AC to keep cool during the night. Whereas the tent and a three-person room along with bathrooms has seen better days and were a bit unkempt, it was still quite lovely and quaint. There was a very friendly dog that greeted us when we arrived.
Unfortunately, the cons outdo the pros by a mile. The property is neglected, there are animal excrements everywhere and overall the place is disheveled. Great potential, but little to no effort put in to make this place great. We chose the yurt so we were prepared for bugs of all sorts. What ruined our stay was the attitude of the owner/manager/host – not sure who it was, because we didn’t see anyone besides animals and our group for the night we were there.
When we arrived, there was no water in the tent’s sink or in the adjacent bathroom. After multiple attempts to contact the aforementioned host (messaging through booking.com and calling through Whatsapp) we were left with no answer and no other way to wash up than to walk up to a bathroom next to the three-person room we also rented. In the morning, we woke up to a message that she could have helped us, but she went to bed because we arrived late (she was notified beforehand that we will arrive around 10 PM) and another one that she believes she heard our crew take off early so do we still need water? No apology or any care shown. I’m all for having a care-free attitude in life, but I would show a basic level of interest in people that are paying me for accommodation and access to water. When it comes to payment – cash only and we were instructed to: ‘just leave the money on the bed in the room’…to me, that’s very sketchy. Our rented car also received a parting gift from the farm animals that were roaming freely – a big part of our front hood was covered in feces.
Additionally, what’s pointed out on booking and in reality is not true – there was no Wi-Fi and no sea view from the yurt. Can’t recommend.

Very unique experience. Perfect way to end the day in the rain forest. Very natural environment. I slept like a baby. Awesome view from the balcony in the room and the observation deck on the roof.
I liked the total experience. This may not be for everyone but if you are a naturalist this is a must do.

Awesome hidden gem up on the mountain, homey and secluded. So glad I found it! Very authentic. Jyl is an amazing hostess who made us feel at home and cooks some great vegetarian food. Also the views are amazing! I love the natural breeze thru the room as opposed to a stuffy hotel. Will definitely be back as soon as possible!

Very beautiful place to visit! Just be aware the shower and the toilet are located outside the room. At least in our case, we stayed in the tent/yurt. We loved the host and loved the breakfast.

Location and meal and host were fine to great (the host). The morning coffee was iffy: PR has such great coffee, and the Kirkland's brand served is not at that level by any stretch of imagination.
The entrance to our room was through the odorous cleaning supplies room...very disconcerting. A bit of architectural change would have made our quarters much better.

Beautiful location. If you're looking for a unique stay, this is it. Critters (dog, cats, chickens, ducks) and the natural views! Best view I've ever had while going to the bathroom. Fun decor, comfy beds. We won't forget our night, and enjoyed it.
We definitely didn't get bothered by anyone!
If you don't like bugs (huntsman spiders specifically) probably avoid the yurt. We are pretty okay with insects, and the size of a couple inside the yurt had us keeping an eye on them. That being said, they're harmless and it kind of added to the experience!

Lovely mountain site in rainforest, distant views of the sea. Farm-like with hens, chicks, ducks, ducklings, roosters. Also cats, two turkeys, and a big friendly dog, all of whom loved being petted. The manager, Jill Lawler, even has two adorable kiddos (listed as "Love Therapy" on the LCDVN website) up for grabs! Even more, there was a young volunteer identified as a Healer (tantric, l believe...Google it) on-site performing services as well as a second young lady who appeared to be in training. Both very kind and well-groomed. Full body massage. I never saw a price list for the Healing services, but I assume there is a separate charge.
The older-looking volunteer was also busily assisting Ms. Lawler and the Maintenance Man in recruiting other volunteers. Once fully staffed with the 14+ volunteers they say they envision for the Spring, there just might be a line of cars down the mountain to reach this Thrill On the Hill!
Difficult to watch juvenile creatures (ducklings, chicks) dwindle and perish one by one: Nature was allowed to take its course with little to no protection from natural predators. Bring protection...mosquitoes. Zika and other infectious diseases are real. You don't want to learn this the HARD way!
Had a frightening near-miss incident. From my room, I heard a sound like loud rushing water. Realizing it had been continuous for a while, I went to investigate. Following the sound to the kitchen, I saw through the door that it was the loud hiss of a PRESSURE COOKER unattended on the stove with the heat on HIGH. Ran out to find someone only to realize that, oddly, absolutely NO ONE was anywhere around except myself...no guests, volunteers, no staff lol! Hurried down the way to the Manager's cottage to find her there safe and sound indoors. She nonchalantly explained that she was cooking a duck and that she was planning to "let it go for at least two more hours". I encouraged her to turn it off and, thankfully, she complied. (Strangely, I learned the next day that she had actually cooked the duck in the SLOW COOKER.) Days later, as I was serving as a Volunteer Cook, she announced that the stove gas (propane?) was low and that someone was on their way to change the tank. She assured me that I didn't have to turn off the range while he was changing the gas on the other side of the wall. She maybe needs to take a safety course.

Beautiful setting. Unusual and fun to stay in a yurt. Comfortable beds.
We got there after dark and it was treacherous walking through the woods and down the hill on uneven path. We wished there was coffee available in the morning. We wished there was more water available inside the yurt. The cats kept getting in. The water in the shower was cold.

The ground were incredible!!! The chance to truly get back to nature was the highlight. The community kitchen was also perfect it gave you a chance to get to know the other guests and staff. Tootsie and the cats made us feel so at home we even had one of the beautiful cats stay with us in the yurt and then came with us to the dome :) We loved the atmosphere so much we extended our stay an extra week!!! Thank you for creating such a unique and beautiful place :)
We expected the bugs so it was no big deal but be prepared lol 😂

We loved the peace and serenity this property has to offer. How wonderful to go to sleep with nature and wake up to it. The rainforest is marvelous. We got a true display of its beauty with double rainbows, lush landscapes and the animals made everything so much fun. The people were amazing too. We stayed in the Banana room, with it’s lively colors and fresh breeze we didn’t miss the lack of air conditioning.
The common areas can use some cleaning.

natural feel
children loved the animals
kids loved the trampoline
staying in the yurt was authentic and an adventure
a true departure from life in Manhattan connecting with nature in a rustic setting
outdoor toilet and shower was a little much for the girls in our family but not an issue for boys
sitting on top deck of house watching sunrise over mountains was a great start to day with roosters crowing and cats cuddling around us
one spider in yurt cause a few tears but was promptly devoured by our resident kitty
it was an experience and memory worth the adventure

King size bed. Sofa.
Muddy parking. Animals everywhere. Entry to room through linen, laundry area. Common areas filthy. Disorder, toys left out. Cats were in laundry area and they overturned the linen bins. Bath tub had insect. No air conditioning. Neighboring rooms can hear your conversations.

To many cats.

The view is beautiful, a bunch of animals (ducks, chickens, turkey, dog, many many cats)
The room was clean, but the rest of the property wasn't. There were animal excrements in the house, the kitchen was permanently dirty, and the mosquitoes devoured my boyfriend's legs so much that he seemed to have a skin disease (no mosquito lamp in the room). The water was cut one hour when we arrived, and the whole morning when we checked out, so can't guarantee a shower when you need it. The property is technically considered a bio-farm, so that's the level of nature you need to expect (spiders and all). Also if it rains a lot, the paths around the property get too muddy to walk around on. Oh and the wifi is really weak, in case you're dependent on it.

We enjoyed staying in the yurt! It’s huge and decorate in a major cool fashion! We enjoyed the cats but had enough after awhile.
Fortunately someone happened to be available to graciously escort us down a long dark pathway to the yurt. We never would have found it without him. The cats were a bit too friendly and were a challenge to keep them out of the yurt. We had hoped to have dinner there and a quick breakfast in the am but we found out upon arrival we had to make a reservation ahead of time for dinner. Something for breakfast would have been nice before our rainforest excursion.

We stayed in the yurt - a highlight of our trip to PR with our toddlers. They loved the cats, dog, turkeys, and all the other animals here. The outdoor shower with a great view was extra special. The place is rustic but perfect for our pampered family from the big apple!
This is a great stay! They go out of the way to make you feel at home!

I absolutely loved this place. I planned my trip to spend one night in the heart of the Rain Forest. Mission Accomplished!! Very low key farm type atmosphere in the middle of a wonderful botanical setting. We never turned the TV on. We ditched our phones except to take pics and enjoyed the opportunity to turn it off. The Full Moon looked amazing from the location. The location is close to Luquillo Beach Kiosks - a short 17 min drive. Everyone was very friendly. Very safe private room and comfortable beds. Our Shower was outside the room (was prepared for no hot water). I could literally look out to Nature from my shower area. I would compare my stay to renting a cabin in paradise. It is helpful to bring exact change to pay in Cash. If you would like tips on visiting El Yunque look me up! - Deep Sea Expressions

We actually did not have breakfast there. We got up early and left to explore the area. But the owner would always have some hot water available for us since we told her we liked hot tea.
The trail that leads to the domes can get a little muddy. If you were to walk along it with your luggage, the wheels can get stuck... unless you're a young backpacker and can hop from one stepping stone to the next one effortlessly.

Staying here was such a great experience. The wonder was not there when we arrived but gave us instructions on how to get the keys and get into our room, which was very easy. The room was beautiful and the view from the balcony was incredible. We love the dog, cats, turkey and chickens walking around. Tha bathroom was also nice and clean and provided shampoo and conditioner and the bed was comfortable. There were mosquitos (duh, we are in a rainforest) but they provided us with an electric racket to deal with them. Sleeping there at night, while the coquí were giving us a full concert and the rain was falling was simply amazing. And then waking up to the view of the forest and the sea from our balcony was great. A really great way to experience the rainforest. It was fairly easy to get there as well. We just followed the google maps instructions and found it immediately. It is really close to the main street and the road to get there is perfectly maintained. Overall, a great stay that added so much to our rainforest experience, definitely way better than just taking a daytrip to El Yunque and then returning to sleep in San Juan, like many people do
Only problem was that there was no wifi in our room. However, there was excellent wifi connection in the main area
