The cottage is roomy and the kitchen is well stocked with most everything you need to cook and survive while away from home including spices. The refrigerator has ice trays and the water in our opinion is fine to drink. The beds are queen and sheets are needed and it would have been nice to know mattress protectors were also needed.
The decks are spacious and the grill is gas. It is well loved and used by the family who owns it, with lots of games, movies but no cable and has been enjoyed by them for many years.
We had a lovely week away from home. If you want to swim at the cottage swim shoes are needed.

Had a great week kayaking, many nights at the fire pit with views of endless stars. Made use of outdoor shower but disappointing the hot tub on the property was not available to use.

Very nice lake house but old and the bedrooms downstairs
are very damp because of all the rain we had for the last two to three months. We had lots of fun and also a bald eagle and many loons.

My husband and I found this little gem and thought we would take a chance and enjoy.
We thought we may be getting in early and reached out to Peter and asked if there was a chance we may be able to get in early. He was prompt with a response of yes. We ended up showing up later than we thought. But the house was a warm welcome.
The shower was HOT, quickly! When climbing in after a long ride to get there, was a welcome relief. We originally liked the property because of the hot tub, but unfortunately, that was out of commission for our stay. If we have anything negative to say, that would be it.
The sunsets at night were incredible.
The kind where you sit back, relax and watch the sky fill with fire. Take advantage of this gem. You won’t regret it.

Overall a wonderful stay. Owner was very responsive to all questions and little inconveniences. I’d definitely stay again

The best part was the lake view: we had breakfast every day on the deck, looking at the lake with ducks swimming by. There were kayaks, fishing poles. We enjoyed fishing, first time for my wife. She caught more than 20 fish (3 days).
The owner is very responsive and very accommodating.

We came across this house on VRBO and it fit us to a T. The location, cost, ability to make payments and the feeling of "home" was exactly what we needed. The house and property are meticulously clean. It's fun and relaxing for all ages. We will rent again for 2023! We recommend this home to anyone who needs a quiet getaway and/or a real lakehouse vacation. There are restaurants, stores and more just a short beautiful drive away. Appreciation is the word I'm using for allowing us to stay there. Thank you

Excellent Place
I stayed here for the third time in the last two years. It's very quiet and peaceful. We enjoy this place and talked about renting another place for a change in sernery but this is what we like, so I'll be back again next year. The fishing, kyayking, swimming etc is just awesome. The deck is picture perfect. This is worth every penny.

Fantastic family-friendly lakeside house
Great location tucked away a short drive south of Alton Bay and Wolfeboro. The property is clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend on the private lake: an oversized deck for a view of the lake, fire pit and grill, and kayaks. Roll out of bed into the lawn for some cornhole? That's an option too. Peter was communicative and answered all questions quickly. Would strongly consider staying again for a lake retreat.

The Perfect Family Vacation!
We couldn’t have asked for a better family vacation! The lakefront property was absolutely beautiful! Taking a kayak ride by myself each morning was so unbelievably peaceful and relaxing and taking kayak rides to the pool and playground was such a little adventure and hit with my kids. Eating every meal on the deck with water views was the best and fishing off the dock was so much fun. But nothing will compare to watching the sunset on the lake with a fire. The property was very private and we felt like we had the lake to ourselves. There is every yard game you can think of, my kids had a blast playing soccer, can jam, kornhole, baseball etc. We had one rainy day when we were there and the house is stocked with board games and toys (no need to bring any from home). The owner Peter was very helpful and responded to all of my questions within minutes. It will be really hard to leave that amazing lakefront yard but if you do venture out some of my suggestions would be…. Moon Light Meadery (winery/brewery) is about 10 minutes from the house and has breathtaking views. Mini golf and ice cream in Alton and for a nice diner Sheilbys on the pier. Wolfboro grill and ice cream bar for lunch and walk around Wolfboro. And a night out at weirs boardwalk for bumper cars and an arcade. Our vacation was a week filled with family quality time, fun, and adventure in such a peaceful and beautiful setting. We explore a new state every summer and New Hampshire is now a favorite!!

Great Get Away
We rented in 2020 and again this summer. We love this place. It's very very quiet. So if you are quiet and want quiet this is awesome. It has everything you need The fishing is outstanding for the kids. Pretty much catch a fish with every cast. The access to the pools were awesome and quiet. We hope to rent this property again in 2022.

Not Bad - Bad communication from owner
Some reason this area has a lot of bait and switch properties. I'm not sure why that is. I was looking for a place with a dock and a fire pit. I contacted the owner confirming this place had both, and he replied yes. Then, I didn't get the instruction until I was about an hour away. The directions told us that this place comes with no bedsheets. We get there to find out the place doesn't have towels either. We decided we would go to the store in the morning because everything closes early. We then cooked dinner and had a fire by the fire pit. The fire department then comes and tells us we had to put the fire out. In New Hampshire you need a permit for a fire pit. Because the season was so dry, they were not issuing permits. The dry season thing I could understand not knowing, but I wish the owner would have told us about needing a fire permit when I initially asked about the fire pit. I also Did see a roach in the basement, but that was only once.
The house does have a paddleboat, two kyaks (no paddles), the wobbly dock to fish on, and tons of board games. We were a single couple and it was an okay place to stay. I don't think it was worth the price, especially with no sheets or towels. It is an excellent place for a family to stay for the right price and if you know what you are getting yourself into.

Can't wait to book another stay!
This place was perfect! Had everything you could need for a great get away/mini vacation. It was cozy and clean and even on the rainy day we had they had plenty of board games/TV/wifi for us to entertain ourselves with! Even though the weather wasn't warm enough for us to swim, we rented their kayaks and paddle boat and still got to enjoy the lake! Would absolutely recommend to anyone who this would suit. There were 6 of us (three couples) and with the three bedrooms with queen size beds it was a perfect fit! There was also great/quick communication when we had any questions. Hope to rent again in the future. Thanks again, Peter and family!

Vacation home right on the lake with beach access
Very nice vacation home on Locke Lake with a large deck overlooking the lake, lovely to sit outside and watch the sun set. You can swim or kayak right from the private beach. Peter is a great host, extremely helpful and considerate. We had a wonderful stay, sorry we couldn't stay longer!

Had a great time.
This property had everything you need. The place was clean, quiet and relaxing. Communication was great with the owner and he was available to answer any questions. The beach was fantastic, the kayaking even better. Fishing was outstanding. The kids loved catching all that fish. Had to buy more bait just to keep up with the fishing. I would recommend this place because it's quiet over all. Nice family time.
