About this campground/ rv resort rental
Tiny Cottage - Located in the heart of downtown Alpine, Texas, this separate, diminutive cottage (1 room and bath) was a teeny office (168sf) back in the day! The bed is only a 3/4 bed ( wider than a twin, but less wide than a double)!
The TINY cottage is situated downtown, behind the locally owned salon and barber shop, Americana. Enjoy the Backyard, adjacent to the Dragonfly Cottage!
Hidden right in the middle of downtown, these guest cottages were formerly the secret hideaways of various owners, luminaries, celebrities, and occasional scalawags.
This tiny guest cottage is a great budget friendly alternative! The cottage sleeps two very friendly folks, or a single. This unit was actually the old doc's private, stand alone office behind his home and next to his hospital (the home is now Americana Salon, and the hospital is an office building)...best trip to the doctor's office you will ever have, possibly! Note that the cottage IS TINY, and has a 3/4 size bed! The bath has a generous size shower!
DIRECTIONS - The Dragonfly Cottage is located behind the Americana Hotel. It is a tiny freestanding building with the numbers 104 in gold on the front.
You have access to everything in the unit as well as the large courtyard outside adjacent to the Lofts accommodations.
A key code makes self check-in simple!
Alpine is located at "the hub of the wheel" and the neighboring communities of Marfa (West/huge minimalist art scene:Donald Judd), Marathon (East/Gage Hotel), Fort Davis (North: McDonald's Observatory/Historic Fort) are approx. 20 minutes away in any given direction.
-Sul Ross State University is about 8 blocks east on Holland
-There are also some great hiking trails behind the university that give you an amazing 360 view of the country (15-20 minutes up)
-Star Gazing party at McDonald's Observatory in Fort Davis about 45 minutes away.
-Big Bend National Park/the Mexican border are about 45 minutes south.
-Amtrak Train is just a block away
All you'll need is your two front feet to explore the cute shops and restaurants in town.
The train rolls through town a few times a day. It can be a bit noisy, but ear plugs are provided with each stay for those who are light sleepers!
Pet friendly - $40 flat rate pet fee.
**Please Note** Pets may not be left unattended in rooms if they cause noise or disturb the peace by barking. Thank you!
Additional fees will apply if pets cause damage to the rooms.
Please wash dishes - $15 additional cleaning fee if dirty dishes are left.
No smoking (of ANY SUBSTANCE) in unit. A charge of $100 will be added for smoking in the lofts.
Please be mindful of your neighbors.
Otherwise, have a great time!

I enjoyed my stay at the Dragonfly Cottage. It is, as described, a small cottage in downtown Alpine. It is the perfect size for one person or one person and a pet. It was very clean and the hosts were kind and responsive. They had made a couple of updates since the photos were taken and I was pleasantly surprised with the fridge, microwave, and entire cottage.

Cottage was small but cozy. Side yard needs mowing.

Bed was not even a double but a twin+
Shabby and very makeshift.
Very disappointing- my husband and I could not both move around this tiny little playhouse.

Perfect for one person or two people who really like each other. This cottage is cute, comfortable, clean and convenient, with plenty of natural light. The high ceilings helped to make a small space feel more roomy. The floor is cool, so I recommend slippers for winter. I would stay there again.

Just what I needed
Small but functional room for one traveler. Very convenient walk to Alpine shops and restaurants. Good kickoff point for Marfa, Marathon, Terlingua/BBNP. Only caution, train whistles through on tracks across the street, price of being right in town.

Exactly what I wanted.
I wanted an affordable stay to use as a base for a solo motorcycle trip. Alpine is the perfect hub for side trips to Big Bend, Marfa, The Davis Mountains/McDonald Observatory, etc.
The Drafonfly cottage is small, and I did hear trains, but none of that bothered me. I slept right through the night. Both the size and the train noise are clearly/accurately stated in the description.
The property is within easy walking distance of restaurants/bars/food trucks. (Maria’s food truck was the best)
The best value in Alpine.

Great place, great price
Small, simple, affordable place to stay while doing day trips to Big Bend. Shockingly big shower for size of place, Aveda products are nice bonus. Bed is small but it is listed as such, so expect lots of snuggles with your bed partner. 10 out of 10, would stay again. Train noise didn’t bother us.

Suited the purpose
Was a working trip where all we needed was a place to shower and sleep - it was perfect! Loved the relaxed atmosphere and enjoyed drinking our Terlingua Blend coffee out on the patio.

Tiny but ideal for one traveler.
Very conveniently located with downtown shops, restaurants and grocery within a few blocks. On site parking is tight and awkward egress but not an issue with plenty of room on the street. Small bed but comfortable. Inexpensive base for Big Bend area exploration.

Exactly what I was looking for.
