Really a lovely, comfortable and historic property in a gorgeous setting convenient to Durango and the San Juan Mountains of southern Colorado. The owners are a long established local family, and this is a true ranch house including lovely gardens--and a couple of beautiful horses. Greatly enjoyed our stay!

Here for Durango HS Reunion. Great place to stay.

The basement apartment is about ten minutes north of Durango below the ranch house, 45 minutes south of Silverton. Out the front door is a beautiful view of the mountains across the valley. Parking is in front of the unit.
The bedroom has a very comfy bed and bedding. There is a trundle bed (twin) in the sitting room.
The kitchen is small and intended for simple meals. Lovely tableware!
The bathroom is large and includes liquid soap/shampoo/conditioner in the shower.
Small basement windows provided for some ventilation. Any cooking odors were hard to dispel.
Location is great. Not too close to town and closer to a lot of the mountain destinations we went to.
Arrival was super easy—we walked in the door and keys to the locked unit were laid out for us. Departure was just as easy. We stripped the beds but didn’t have to.
The unit was very clean. Patti, the owner, was nearly invisible but was responsive when we needed her for anything.

What a great place to stay while in Durango- just outside of town on a centennial ranch. Plenty of space to relax, hike right out the back door, and admire the views. Patti is a gracious host and it was really interesting to read the history of the ranch. If you want to be close to Durango but get away from the crowd, this is a great place to stay!

All who saw where I stayed were envious. Several of us stayed at different locations nearby. Everything was very clean, quiet with a comfortable bed which was important to someone with back problems. The outside areas were beautiful. The inside was unique with many amenities and felt like home. The location was perfect. It surpassed my expectations.

We loved in there in Durango and the property was just as described and pictured on site. Thank you for the enjoyable stay.

We really enjoyed the Waterfall Ranch. Patti Zink, the owner, was very helpful. We took the train to Silverton. The suite was clean, we did have to kill 3-5 bugs. Patti gave us a lot of great ideas of what to do in Durango and the surrounding area. The property around Waterfall Ranch is so relaxing. They even talk about Waterfall Ranch on the narrow gague railroad. Maybe better signage or markings to show where to turn into the ranch. We missed the turn-in almost every time.

We stayed at Waterfall Ranch for a wedding at River Bend. The location was perfect for us and it was also a short drive into town. We did not have the opportunity to meet Patti, but Margie took great care of us. The interior space looks even lovelier in person and the property is beautiful, from the horses to the dock to the waterfall. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We loved our 3 day stay at Patti’s ranch. It was quiet, private, has lots of beautiful outdoor space, and it’s only 10 minutes outside of Durango - close enough to get there easily for dinner or supplies. It’s a great place for 2 people and we would definitely come back!

Great location, Easy access to town and mountains. The sunset from the Oxbow lake and wetlands on the paddle board made our evenings special. if I had 3 Thumbs, they would all be Up.

Nice, quiet country setting close to town complete with manicured yard and horse watching. Owner even came and put some hay out to get the horses and their foals to come closer! Everything made us feel so welcome. Pretty outdoor seating available.

This is the PERFECT property for a Durango area visit. We were there for a wedding at River Bend and the rehearsal dinner at Dalton Ranch. So convenient to both location. Charming owner (and her adorable dog) and a beautiful, comfortable space to relax and stay! ❤️ We will be back!

We had a short stay here, but it was absolutely lovely. Everything was clean and there were so many amenities provided. Patti is a doll and allowed us to check in as soon as the place was cleaned and was flexible with check out as well.

The ranch grounds are pretty as a picture! Loads of beautiful flowers all around the property. We were lucky with our timing as there were two 6/7 wk old foals.
The kitchen is very well appointed (although we didn’t do any cooking). Nice big full bathroom. There is also another ‘bathroom’ with just a sink that came in handy. Beds were comfy. Lots of books to leaf through. We really enjoyed our stay!

Everything was amazing! The inside has everything you need and wonderfully decorated. Two bedrooms plus a trundle-style bed in the living room.
The outside is really beautiful and peaceful. If you're going to stay in Durango and want to enjoy the scenery, this is the place. Plus Patti is so sweet and helpful. When my 78yo father mentioned that we were looking for something to do, she suggested her property across the street where there is a beautifully secluded oxbow pond with a canoe and pedal boat with a dock, hammock, a couple chairs and an umbrella to sit an enjoy it all. My sister and I even paddled around a swam for a bit. We saw plenty of birds and even an otter. Great stay!

Beautiful grounds, lovely sitting areas, great accommodations! My wife and 8 year old enjoyed every bit of being on the ranch. Feeding the horses, playing with the the dog and catching grasshoppers. Patti is so wonderful and extremely accommodating. We had plenty of privacy, but also felt like part of the ranch. We will definitely be back!

So fun to stay at a historic family ranch. Well maintained, clean property with a thoughtful host. The garden was beautiful to relax in. Loved hearing the running water. Close to Durango, James ranch and hot springs. Would definitely would return again!

This property is so beautiful and a perfect location! Patti is an amazing host. She goes far and above to make sure your visit is perfect. She does not intrude into your vacation but is just a phone call away for whatever you need and is there quickly. The check-in was painless and the check-out the same. The waterfall on the property is beautiful. The wetlands across the street was so relaxing. We enjoyed time on the paddle boat and relaxing in hammocks. The house has everything you need, even items you may have forgotten, may be there. Patti seems to have thought of everything to make your visit wonderful. I highly recommend this place for a relaxing getaway. I couldnt have asked for more!

Waterfall Ranch would be on most people’s shortlists of the nicest property in Durango. As a guest here you get to bask in the beauty of the ranch, and the hospitality of the Zink family is second to none. We were very comfortable in the spacious apartment and found it a perfect place to relax after a day outdoors. We also appreciated the wealth of history represented in and around the property. Great stay.

This was the best place to stay that I could of imagined. The host, Patti, was so welcoming and really thought of everything. There’s a lot of love that went into that ranch and you could tell. Wish I could’ve spent more time exploring the property. If I ever make it out to Colorado again this will definitely be on the list of stops. Thank you Patti!

Our four-night stay was such a great experience. The space is large, well furnished and stocked, and you cannot find better scenery & surroundings. I want to personally thank Patti for sharing this property (and it's history) with travelers looking for a retreat that so perfectly reflects the locale. It's not often that a rental becomes such a large part of the vacation memories. A horse licked my face, and my partner has the damn pictures to never let me forget it!

Such a perfect choice for a trip to Durango for a hockey tournament. Only a few minutes from town, tons of comfortable indoor and gorgeous outdoor space. Very clean and has more than enough of everything you will need during your stay. Patti and her animals were such gracious hosts. Highly recommended and can't wait to come back next year!
