This house was amazing! Dauphin Island is so relaxing. This home was an excellent location to watch dolphins daily in the Gulf. I would highly recommend this home for a lovely escape from the busyness of every day life.
We are grateful for an opportunity to refresh and enjoy God’s beauty all around us.
Thank you!!!

I loved the distance from the beach, the layout of the house.

Loved the property and being right in the beach! Lots of memories made, and we plan on coming back soon!!!!

Great location and great house. The porch was fantastic.
4.6
This house was beautiful with an amazing view ! It was our first trip to the island and loved everything about it ! The house was comfortable and accommodated our group of 12! The porch was great , well furnished and locked ! The grandkids had a blast ! We do feel the house had a few maintenance issues ,the rusted out of commission outdoor shower( had old water hose) squeaking bunk beds, no working blender or scissors and the need for serving bowels for 12 but overall it was probably our best beach trip ever !

The location was everything we wanted, truly on the beach. The layout of the house, size of bedrooms and bathrooms was great. Plenty towels. The kitchen comes up short. The stove needs to be replaced, the fridge is close behind it. There is a really nice waffle iron there, and plenty dishes and silverware. Skillets not so great. The outside shower is a water hose. But even though there were some disappointments we all had a good time.

Love the porch. Great location

Overall we loved our stay with the house clean and right on the beach and the perfect size for 6 adults and 6 kids. We did have lots of problems getting in/out of the driveway, often getting stuck in the sand that was very deep and having to push vehicles out. We also did not have any satellite throughout the entire stay which was reported the first night and someone came to check but was unable to fix at that time and we never heard back. The back deck stairs also move a lot when walking up/down and appear as if they need more support. Finally we had very strange power issues where the lights and appliances would go in/out like we were going to lose power for the last two days. We first thought this was a wind issue but no other houses around us had the same problem. We did enjoy our stay but it seems as if the house could use some maintenance.

Good house and location for a large family!

Clean and perfect location

Home was very clean and inviting. The deck is amazing and if the weather had been nicer we would have spent a lot of time there. The beds in the bunk room squeaked loudly if you moved the slightest bit which lead to those guests not sleeping well. My car got stuck due to the large amount of loose sand in the middle of drive which lead us to needing to park just after you turn off road. Thankfully, a good neighbor helped us. This might be a common occurrence in this area due to close proximity to the beach, but it would have been nice to be warned we might need four wheel drive. I reported this to Vacasa at time of trip and they said they would make a note of it. Otherwise, it is a lovely home!

Clean, convenient, and relaxing.

Plenty of room. 10+ showers and never ran out of hot water! More than enough towels. Quiet beach. Loved the fact that is is directly on the water/beach. Only issues was WiFi was not good enough for more than 3-4 students to do homework. WiFi issue was not a huge deal because we spent most of the time on the beach.
4.6
Everything was amazing from walking in to find a welcome card to all the beach toys or the canopy outside. Rooms were plenty big and beds very comfortable! Only issue was the bunk beds would squeak every little move made on them. Definitely would rent this house again.
4.6
The house is right on the water with a nice big deck to sit on and enjoy the ocean views and sounds. The house has a great lay out and is spacious for a large group. The kitchen has enough utensils and pots and pans to cook a good meal but for one good sauce pan and pasta pot, the quality is poor. While we enjoyed our stay and the house, it could use a little tlc. Most of the shelves in the upper cabinets can’t be used because they are missing pegs that keep them in place. The walls are scuffed and could really use some paint. As so many previous guests have commented, the curtains in the ocean bedrooms are so sheer you are forced to wake up with the birds. We had a few questions during our stay and Vacasa was very responsive.

Great location and home wih everything you need

Best beach property ever! Absolutely beautiful inside and out. Gorgeous beach with wide variety of shore birds entertaining us. Fabulous beach combing-the Gulf gave us lots of gifts! We’ll be back!
Consider changing front door entry, most confusing convoluted lock/unlock procedures of any rental we’ve ever visited.

Location was great ! House was nice only recommendations is washing machine and air vents need cleaning and could use hangers in the closets. There was only 1 swing and it broke on Friday when my daughter sat in it. They did respond when we contacted them about this and came on Sunday and fixed it. Overall happy with our stay and would come back again .

The check in process was easy and the property is roomy and gorgeous. It is beautifully decorated. We cooked and had adequate tools in the kitchen. We had 4 adults with all kinds of sewing tables and machines for a quilt retreat. We had plenty of room for all that! The communication with Vacasa was good through email and texting. We submitted a maintenance request for an annoying kitchen faucet that just would not turn off, and they put in a work ticket, but it still wasn’t fixed 3 days later when we checked out. The internet is painfully slow. Someone needed to do a zoom meeting that didn’t work well. It is a rural part of AL, so probably not a lot of internet providers to compete. The TV was great for the game on Saturday, though! I would absolutely love to come back and stay here again, assuming I don’t need internet access. Be aware there are stairs and no handicap access.

This home is spacious and the layout is absolutely perfect. We were able to have plenty of room for all of our guests. We loved the porch & loved the view! We were able to walk directly onto the beach. It was a dream!

Home was spacious with wonderful views.

We thought the place was clean until a water bug ran across the back of the couch. There were bugs in a bedroom and a bathroom. We went to buy food and lost over $750 in food:sirloin beef roast, pork tenderloin, 5-lbs chicken salad, $100 in cheeses, chicken, ice cream, etc. you sent 2 men to fix the fridge, but it still did not work. We had to buy $20 worth of ice daily to put in coolers for milk, eggs, etc. The tv in the living room never worked. We called and texted to try to get help, but you would disconnect after a few minutes. I was extremely disappointed with my vacation!
4.6
We had 9 adults and 1 child. There was plenty of room for everyone. The patio is great for eating meals, playing games and relaxing while enjoying the view of the ocean. We loved being so close to the beach. We had a great time and will definitely come back!!

We had the best time with friends every thing was prefect.

We really enjoyed being right on the beach. Dauphin Island is a great family friendly place to stay! Already looking to book again for next year!

We loved the house! It was perfect for 3 couples - plenty of space, great deck space, loved walking down the steps and being on the beach. Saw lots of dolphins! Great space for game playing in the evenings. We all said we would be happy to come back and stay at "License to Chill" again! (We did have an issue with the grill not working and it was replaced quickly, however that grill didn't work and we didn't a call back on that.)

Great spot to watch the moon rise and sunset
4.6
First and foremost, the location is wonderful - with the exception of the parking for the public beach right next door. We had people camping right in front of our house (leaving chairs, beach tents, etc overnight) - but only if we didn't beat them down to the beach. We also understand this isn't something the beach house can control, but want to be 100% transparent. That being said, you're right smack dab in the perfect spot to rent bikes and explore either side of the island. The overall cleanliness of the house was just okay, the sheets, rooms, and especially bathrooms were clean so we were satisfied but not blown away. When we did reach out to the vacasa rep about some concerns she was very prompt in her response, which was understanding and offered multiple solutions we could choose from. Overall it's a gorgeous spot but with the cost to quality I'm not sure we'll be staying again.
4.6
The property was clean, the availability of EVERYTHING we needed, the communication was all a 5 star experience. We will do this again with the same company.
4.6
We stayed in a Vacasa home three years ago and had such a PHENOMENAL experience that we knew we’d book with them again.
However, this experience was really quite the opposite.
The house was missing a lot of basic amenities that we have come to expect in a rented home.
By way of the kitchen, there was only a package of coffee filters and a small container of sugar. No aluminum foil, cling wrap… not even a salt or pepper shaker was present.
There were 2 trash bags, so we had to purchase another box for the week, in addition to some other basic kitchen appliances (like potholders.)
The towels were brand new, which was nice, but they hadn’t been washed. It took a few days for me to realize why they weren’t absorbing anything and then had to use my own laundry soap to wash them all.
The washing machine - a front loader - was moldy inside. I know this can be common, but a simple sign stating that the door should be left open when not in use would help solve this issue.
The freezer leaked all over (even out onto the floor) and the fridge had multiple broken drawers. On our final full day, a new fridge was delivered with only a few hours’ notice from the local property manager, and then we had to accept the delivery ourselves despite being told we did not even need to be there because it would be handled by someone else.
At least one bathroom sink really needed the drain cleaned.
It took us a few days to locate the sand and water toys in the outdoor storage on the front porch. A simple note would have made locating them fast and easy.
The back stairs leading to the ocean felt very rickety. When my husband looked at them, he was disturbed that they were not hung properly and are really a little bit unsafe. This is a safety issue which needs to be addressed.
Communication with the property management company three years ago resulted in immediate response and resolution, so I had expected the same this time around. However, I had to wait days to hear back from them this time - or didn’t hear back at all. Very unprofessional.
This experience was so substantially different from our last one that I don’t know if we will book with Vacasa again.
Pros: There were plenty of blankets and towels. The view was beautiful. Internet worked well. There were new pots and pans.
4.6
Great floor plan, easy to get to it.

Licensed to Chill is a great property. Read on for my pros and cons list!
Pros: This home is beautifully designed and decorated. The beachfront location is beautiful! The 4 bedrooms offer a nice space for everyone. The back deck is perfect for watching the sunrise etc. The outdoor table seats 8 — which is great! The internet is high speed and worked all week. If you’re looking for a lovely place to sleep and don’t mind some missing amenities, this house is for you!!!
Cons: If you need maintenance or help on the property and rent through Vacasa, you have to jump through hoops to get to the local management. I only had 2 issues that needed attention, but it took 3 phone calls to get a plan of action. The property could use a little attention to details as well. The fridge doesn’t cool well and has 2 broken drawers. The freezer freezes well, but the ice maker is in need of repair as ice falls from the ice maker into the freezer area. The kitchen could use a full set of pots/pans. The pieces that were available were less than what was expected. Of the 2 pots, both bottoms had burnt crusties in them and the one non-stick skillet had no more Teflon on the surface. The kitchen could also use a full set of cooking utensils. The bath towels could certainly be upgraded and replaced. Most towels had small brown or black stains. Every bathroom could use a small trashcan. The bathrooms would also benefit from a bath mat at each shower. In the bedrooms facing the ocean, the view is magnificent, but there are only sheer curtains. If you like it dark, you might choose a room with a street view. Lastly, public beach is directly adjacent to the property. If you don’t want extra visitors nearby, you might choose a different property.
Overall, Licensed to Chill is a nice place!! It could use some attention to detail and would be A++.

This house is perfectly placed right on the beach, which makes it ideal with younger children! The issues we had with the house I believe comes down to management. The bunk room beds had not been washed before we got there and the comforters and sheets where covered with sand so we had to wash the sheets. There are no solid curtains only sheers on either of the master bedrooms that lead out the the main deck so if you are traveling with friends or family you have no privacy
( which is kinda a big deal on vacation), so these really do need to replaced with an adequate curtains to provide necessary privacy. There was no working tv or streaming due to a fully rusted out dish that was held to the house with a rope, this was addressed with management and someone came out our last day to switch the house to a different service and we were credited for this inconvenience. The exterior shower was also rusted out and was only a hose so we had management send someone out to fix that as well, which they did. As far as interior the house is beautiful. There are some things you should know before getting to the island if you are using the house for 10-12 people. You will want to bring toilet paper, trash bags, and paper towels. There were two small rolls in each bathroom but since stores are not easily accessible your better off purchasing ahead of time and make sure to bring laundry detergent and dish soap. Also grab ice because the ice maker doesn’t work well and makes very little ice. There are not enough glasses, mugs and bowls to accommodate 10+ guests so bring some paper goods. The coffee pot also leaks and is missing the filter inside so you may want to bring your own.
I say all of that to give the next guest a heads up on how to prepare not to deter from renting because like I said the house is beautiful and the location is perfect. I just think that the management company could stand to do regular walk through of there properties to make sure they are appropriately stocked for the quantity of guests they advertise for and to handle the minute details like coffee pots, dishes and general maintenance due to rust from salt water so the guests are not have to contact management while on vacation
4.6
All 4 TV’s did not work. The direct dish was rusted and almost down on the ground.
4.6
We had 5 adults and 7 kids (ages 7-17) stay here with plenty of room to spare! The house was nice and the beach even better! I will say this house is right by the entry for a public beach opening so it can get a little crowded, but it didn’t bother us much, more people to watch! Lol! We cooked every meal at the house, which was nice, the kitchen does need some items added (it sleeps 12 but only has 9 plates) things like that, but nothing we couldn’t figure something else out and made it work! We all had an amazing time and made great memories and most importantly the kids were all outside each and every day (no electronics allowed!) and they had a great time exploring and learning and playing! I wouldn’t hesitate AT ALL to stay here again!
