This adorable little spot was perfect for a cozy lakeside vacation. It's right on Crystal Lake with beautiful views, and it's really close to Lake Michigan and all the hiking and dunes in the area. We loved opening the bedroom windows to hear the sound of the water and sitting out on the pier/dock over the lake.

Loved how clean and right on the water. Perfect for romantic weekend! Would be a 5 star, but no wifi

We had a relaxing weekend away. Read the listing and comments well, and you will go in aware of the pros and cons. For us it was a great hub for our M22 tour. The view is beautiful, and it was surprisingly quiet considering the proximity of the road.

Perfect location and quaint, older smaller rental. We wanted to go on the rowboat but there were no life jackets. I messaged them and sent a screenshot of the rental ad stating they were included in various sizes. We had someone come out with brand new life jackets the next day. Much appreciated. Older design but didn't bother us at all. Cute charm.

It was almost as described. There is a strang layout, but it’s workable. We spent most of our time on the sand or in the lake. It was beautiful.

The beach access is awesome. The cabin keeps the rain off, and has 1 comfy bed and 1 old as dirt fold-out bed. It's fairly evenly distanced from both Beulah and Frankfort, which we saw as a positive.
The bathroom is teeny, in all aspects of the word. The shower head is at ~5ft3in high, so anyone taller than that will need to bend or squat to rinse off. If you sit on the toilet, your knees will likely hit the wall in front of you. If you pee standing up, you'll likely need to turn sideways in front of the sink.
The screen door in front pops out of its frame easily, and the screen door in back pops out of the track does not seal well at all, so prepare for mosquitoes.
Since our visit in 2019, the couch has been replaced, but not the fold-out bed within. The screens have been replaced or patched, but the screen door problems are worse. I don't remember the "fire pit", or actually, the bowl in the beach with a ring of rocks.

Patio door screen didn't close properly and lower part of refrigerator didn't stay cold enough. Everything else was good!

We booked in fall 2020 expecting that reported missing or needed screen repairs would be fixed, but they were not. Bedroom window screen is missing and door screen is torn allowing insects in. Living room slider screen does not latch and a gentle breeze would open the slider. Property needs maintenance. Fluorescent lights do not work. and the bathroom unlit shaving mirror requires one to stand directly over the toilet to shave.

Enjoyed our stay at Grandma's Sandbox. The location was perfect as it is between Frankfort and the National Park. No A/C would have been just fine but for the lack of window screens to keep bugs outside. The house has more storage space and kitchen equipment than one would think for a tiny house. I have often booked homes through VRBO and this one was lacking in kitchen resources such as spices, foil, etc. So bring your own! The lake truly is crystal clear!

Great lake getaway for 2+
Pleasant older home right on the lake with a lot of charm. Nothing bad to say about it!
Gave a 4/5 because like other reviews, the the screens are in need of work and there were a few lightbulbs out. Property descriptions could be better too, there isn't a firepit and from the description it wasnt clear if linens were provided or not (they are). Nothing detrimental but small details get the perfect ratings :).

Great House - Great Location
We definitely enjoyed our stay here, very friendly neighborhood too. The beach right out the back door was our favorite part. Loved the location to Frankfort and Beulah.
Would have given 5 stars but the screens needed some repair and let a lot of mosquitoes in. Everything else was great though!

Amazing time
I enjoyed waking up to a beautiful sunrise while relaxing with a cup of coffee sitting next to a beautiful lake. Wish the stay could have been longer. Will definitely look into renting this place again in the near future. Have recommended it to family and friends.

Grandmas Vintage Sandbox Oasis
House was clean, well kept, we had everything we needed. Right on the water and the views did not disappoint. We will be coming back! The only thing we wished is the house yard had a small fence to help parents with toddlers on the busy road. Luckily the house was on the water side. Close to Frankfort and Benzie. Amazing trip!

Crystal Lake or bust
This vintage cottage definitely makes you feel like you’re at Grandma’s, but it’s the perfect size for a couple! The lake is gorgeous and you have your own private little beach area. Couldn’t have asked for a better spot for a mini vacation in Northern Mi!

Perfect location.
Too bad the management company of this place is worthless. It’s really too bad. Had to wait 2 hours to get in because no one could figure out the access code. We got in late and that was incredibly inconvenient. Besides that the property and accommodations were perfect! What a lovely place. I definitely would come back. It’s just lovely. Right on top of the water in a quaint little vintage cabin.
