About this apartment rental
Tastefully decorated, modest, spacious one bedroom, one bath condo located in the great community of Magisterial. This is a top floor condo located in a nice Mexican neighborhood, nestled behind the rolling hills of Campestre Golf course, so there is a large, undeveloped buffer with natural scenary and habitat. Newer kitchen appliances with all kitchenware and washing machine. Bedroom has a comfy queen pillowtop mattress, large dresser and plenty of closet space. There is a dedicated A/C unit in the bedroom and in the living room. Secure metal bars on windows and door that when left open provide a lovely breeze through the condo. Very comfortable living room has a flat screen TV with an Amazon Fire Stick for streaming, wi-fi, blue tooth speaker and a queen sofa bed. On the balcony (in the storage locker) is a new, full sized bbq with a lovely table and chairs to view the sea of Cortez in the distance. The sunrises at LaBamba is spectacular! Condo is best suited for a couple, friends or a single person (2-3 people) looking to experience the southern Baja area. There is a comfortable pull out in the sofa. Basic amenities supplied for short stays (week) longer stays require grocery store visits
Guests can walk, use closely situated public transportation, taxi, UBER or explore the area in a rental car (rentals at airport or 5 min walk away) Really nice grocery stores close by, La Comer is my personal favorite, about a 15 min walk
You can pre-order groceries from this great company, they will be there the day of your arrival. Just ensure you let us know so that our Property Manager Betty can assist
https://www.pricklypearcabo.com
* Note: ensure if you need to upload UBER as recently the taxis are only allowed in the Hotel Zone so if you do not rent a car and need a ride, UBER is needed *
San Jose has great restaurants, shops, nightlife and a very active art district
Very affordable 9 hole Vidanta Golf Los Cabo is a five minute walk
There are beautiful beaches to see, Palmilla, Chileno, Santa Maria and not too far of a drive to get to Cerritos a fantastic surfing beach on the way to Todos Santos
Banks, convenience stores, restaurants and the Amerimed Hospital are in the same five minute vicinity
Split level building, no elevator so it is not considered disability friendly. Just a few levels to walk up.
Please, no hanging towels or laundry over the balcony rail. There is a drying rack provided
Please turn off the AC when you leave the condo to save on power/energy. There is a beautiful breeze that happens and the AC units are new, so they will cool the unit quickly if needed.

This condo is in a quiet neighborhood close to many great spots. The place is furnished so nicely & really feels like home. The view of the water is super dreamy. I loved how peaceful the building is too.

3rd floor condo with well-equipped kitchen, comfy living room with TV, dining room, bedroom with comfy queen bed, full bath and a washing machine. Best of all, balcony offered a beautiful view of the Sea of Cortez. Host provided linens, beach towels, beach chairs for guest use. The neighborhood was diverse and enjoyable.

We had a lovely time and this condo put us right in the middle of all we wanted to do.

Everything about this property is wonderful. Hosts were very friendly but did not impose on our privacy or space. This place has everything we needed with a comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen, excellent TV, fairly centrally located, quiet building with great sunset view. Christy was very generous and lent us beach chairs and umbrella for a beach day.
Highly recommend this place!

This place has become our home-away-from home in San Jose del Cabo. We never tire of the amazing sunrises from the balcony. What a writer's retreat--to sit on the balcony in the afternoon, and rest your eyes on the ocean. The condo is supplied with beach chairs, an umbrella, a cooler, and beach towels for an outing to the beach. Since our last stay, the bedroom was upgraded with an air conditioner (in addition to the overhead fan) and a tv. The building is quiet and peaceful (this is not a place for loud parties) and the residents are friendly. A great value. Maybe we should keep it our little secret?

Local Experience
Loved this property, its location, residents and neighbors. We felt like we lived in San Jose. Very friendly residents and neighbors, always walking through the neighborhood and sharing directions or recommending a place to eat or shop. Walking distance to Vidanta golf club and grocery stores. We did not rent a car or bike as we walked everywhere or took the local bus.

Unforgettable sunrises
This is our third stay at this condo. We had stayed at another beachfront property but finished our vacation here. Affordable, and the kitchen was much better stocked with utensils and a blender. The manager and host are pleasant to deal with. As I said before, the stairs would pose a difficulty for people with limited mobility but the view is wonderful.

Our affordable Mexican getaway
This property is a great value in a nice neighbourhood. The best part is the wonderful sea view and the spectacular sunrises. The accommodation is very comfortable for two people. The mattress is comfy and since my last visit, the high barrier to the shower stall has been cut down, so it is more accessible.

My husband and I stayed at this property for 3 weeks and loved the area. This is a budget condo in a nice Mexican neighborhood with Canadians and Americans making up the majority of the owners here which was really helpful. The condo was a little older than I expected but is spacious with a fantastic view of the ocean and mountains and the sunrises from the deck were so beautiful! We enjoyed our stay and explored the whole cabo corridor and many fantastic beaches . The only thing is we didn’t have a car for the majority of our stay so did have to bike and walk everyday to the beach, shopping or getting to a bus stop to travel to our favourite beaches.... Chileno and Santa Maria which were so beautiful and had fantastic snorkeling. Once you get onto the local bus system it’s great (cabo purple and orange bus) and it’s very inexpensive around $2.50 Canadian, but they were really busy and of course lots of stops. The bike riding for my husband was also fantastic with quiet road rides and mountain bike trails (happy we brought our bikes with us).
The area where the condo is has a lot of hills so you need to be able to walk uphill a lot back from the local beach or shopping. It’s a 15 minute walk to the new La Comer super store which I recommend for groceries over Walmart which is also about a 20 minute walk. A new Soriano grocery and department store opened in our last couple of days which is closer if you know the shortcut straight through the neighborhood by Scotia bank. You do need to cross the busy main highway to get anywhere down to the local costa Azul beach or restaurants so that was quite an experience!
Over all the condo was great but I would recommend a car if you are not used to uphill walking everyday. Although I’m very active I do have some mobility issues so wasn’t the best for me as I didn’t have my e-bike with me🙂 also as mentioned by another review the Mexican style tiled shower area has a very high step in which was a bit hard for me. Nice Mexican decorative touches! Comfortable bed. The only thing I feel the condo needed was perhaps a new toaster and coffee pot as they both were old and not working 100%. I would recommend this condo for those on a longer stay within a budget. Overall loved the Los Cabos area and will return next year.

A beautiful 14 day stay introducing us to the San Jose del Cabo area for our six week stay.
The condo is in a good Mexican neighbourhood within walking distance of the Plaza and Old Town...Great for a Thursday night Art Walk and some excellent restaurants.
We really appreciate the comfortable queen bed although no AC in the bedroom makes it warm during the 33C days of early November.
A great kitchen with a great stove, BBQ and top of the line pots and utensils made for a great dining at home away experience. Our rental car had a safe gated parking space behind the condo under a sunshade. We mopped the floor a couple times and probably left it cleaner than when we arrived.

Great view, very affordable
The LaBamba Condo was just as advertised, in a good neighborhood with a beautiful view. The sunrise over the ocean was spectacular in the mornings, worth getting up early to see. The owner was very thoughtful and helpful and when it appeared a hurricane was on the way she was very good about making sure I was all right. It had all the amenities that I expected but I would not recommend it for someone with limited mobility because there are stairs and the shower stall would be difficult to get in and out of. The condo was a very affordable alternative to staying at a hotel and eating out all the time. I would stay there again.

Lovely, peaceful, clean
This is a sweet little condo in a small complex in a quiet residential neighborhood. It was perfect for our needs. The bed is extremely comfortable. The unit is equipped with cable TV and a washing machine. The kitchen is well stocked with the things needed for cooking meals, with plenty of dishes and glassware. The unit is very clean. The view can't be beat - it's on a low hill so you have an amazing view of the ocean in the distance. Every morning I had coffee on the balcony and watched the sun rise. It's a 15-20 minute walk to two major grocery stores (La Comer or Selecto/Chadrui), or Walmart, and there are many restaurants/taquerias and other shops like Starbucks within walking distance. Maureen was a wonderful host and the manager, Betty, was very helpful. She was there when we arrived and gave us helpful tips for staying in the area, and was always available if we needed her.

Great location
Very nice area to stay while in San Jose. Stores and beaches close by. If you are going to school at Spanish In Cabo the school is just down the road. Great kitchen equipped with everything you need. Bed was comfortable and bedroom had lots of closet space. All apliences are new and work perfectly.

Wonderful Condo in a Wonderful Country
We spent three weeks in La Bamba #9, the unit is much nicer than described in the Home Away app. The kitchen has plenty of prep space. The appliances are all high quality, as are the linens for the bed and bath. The bed is very comfortable, and it's so nice having a washing machine!
Betty, the property manager, was very helpful, she checked-in with us a couple of times during the three weeks to see if we needed anything.
Many of the other reviews have already explained how good the location is, and we totally agree with everything they mention. The other guests and owners were all very welcoming too.
Thank you, Eric and Maureen, for sharing your wonderful home with us, we would love to return. Judy

A great stay with a beautiful view
The owners where great to work with and the property manager, Betty was very helpful with questions regarding the unit and information in the area. The unit is well equipped and roomy for a couple. The wifi was reliable, TV was excellent, and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking meals. Location was in a friendly neighbourhood and we could walk to 3 grocery stores, Walmart, La Comer and Chadriui. The view from the balcony was awesome.

Just like coming home...
This was my second stay and certainly not my last. I love that it's so close to many bus lines, but quiet as it's in a residential neighborhood. There's always a breeze, the view from the balcony is great, the bed and sofa are comfy, the kitchen is well-equipped and I always cook a lot while there. Really appreciate the washing machine and full size refrigerator! Huge dining table is wonderful for spreading out books & papers & working on the computer. My thanks to Maureen & Eric for La Bamba #9!

A wonderful kitchen in a great little condo
Unlike so many rentals' kitchens, this one had the right pans & tools for the job, we ate out only once in our 2 week stay! The view is spectacular, the photo shows about half of it. Off to the left is a singing perch, and we kept our binoculars on the coffee table to identify them - one day there was a gecko up there too. The condo's situated to catch a steady breeze during the day, plus with a unit above it there was never a problem of overheating. The bed was cushy comfy with lovely sheets, the sofa was comfy to sleep on too. The big table let us spread out our books & computers and still have plenty of space for dining. In spite of its small size, the condo is well laid out so there's room to move around - we didn't feel we had to take turns breathing. I generally don't watch tv (this was a working vacation) but when Megan said that Pirates of the Caribbean was in the DVD stash, it was time for a break! So nice to have a local landline. The manager, Betty, is as sweet as can be - came by with new curtains. It's a 15-minute walk to either Walmart or La Comer for groceries, a 5-minute walk to the bus stop to Cabo San Lucas or around town in San Jose. It even has a washing machine. We'll be back on our next Baja trip, for sure! Thank you Maureen, Erick, Betty!

What could be better
We stayed 2 months in this condo which we enjoyed very much. Located on the top floor of a very well maintained building, on a small hill where we had an unobstructed view of the sea and the quiet and safe neighborhood of the Magisterial community. The condo is very clean, large enough for 2 people and it has recently been completely renovated including kitchen cabinets, appliances including a washer and a comfortable bed with pillow top. The kitchen is very well equipped to prepare meals and the fridge is of good size. The internet is powerful and the television offers several channels. Several services are within walking distance: grocery stores (Walmart and La Comer), restaurants, beach, car rental, historic district and hotel zone. It is easy to use different bus routes by getting to the stop 5 minutes walk from the condo. You can explore the city (red and white buses), travel to the airport or to San Lucas (Ruta del Desierto bus) or visit several cities in Baja California including La Paz, Todos Santos, Santiago (Aguila bus terminal, next to the Walmart on Valerio Gonzalez Street). It was easy to contact Maureen and Eric who responded quickly for the rental. They are very friendly and care about everything going well during our stay. Their manager who lives in San Jose (Betty) and speaks English offers excellent service. I would definitely recommend this place to stay in San Jose.

An Affordable Gem
Working with the owner, Maureen, has been easy. She is very helpful and responds quickly. We were greeted by the local property manager, Betty and she showed us around the unit and answered any questions we had. The unit itself is clean and well equipped. The bed and pillows were amazing, the wifi was 100% reliable and it was nice to have Shaw TV even though we didn't watch too much tv. There is a phone to make local calls, a water cooler, stove/oven, full size fridge with freezer and all of the things you would need to prepare meals. The location is excellent, the building is located in a nice and friendly neighborhood and in top of a hill offering ocean views. The beach is a 25 minute walk, La Comer grocery store 20 minute walk, Walmart 10 minute walk and a small convenience store a few minutes away. The pool is located behind the building and is great way to stay cool. It's small but all you need. There are chairs and loungers for use as well. This property is perfect for a couple and I would not hesitate returning. Thank you for the great stay!!

An excellent 3 week stay
We loved this one bedroom condo for its location, convenience and friendly neighbours. It's third floor location gave us a good view of the bay (exactly like its cover photo) and the shaded balcony was our favourite dining location. It is recently renovated and has new furniture and conveniences. The bedroom and bathroom had great new linens. The wifi and tv worked just fine. The condo has air conditioning, but we seldom used it as the building's orientation protects the windows from direct sunlight most of the day. Eric and Maureen, the condo owners in Canada, were especially helpful in making sure everything was ready for our arrival and checked with us regularly by email during our stay.
It's location was perfect for us as we don't rent a car. It is halfway between the Mega and Walmart (10 minutes walk each way), also about halfway between the beach and central square, so most places we wanted to visit were not more than 20 minutes walk. Bus travel was convenient from this location, and taxi to the town centre cost 100 pesos or $10US, so carry pesos.
The mini-pool at the back of the building was a great afternoon refresher and gathering place for the building residents. They welcomed us and gave us great tips about the area. This condo is in a 10 unit building with most units owned by Canadians who live there much of the year so the property is well maintained.

Great Vacation
Really enjoyed my stay at Maureen and Eric's well equipped Condo. The neighbourhood is safe, I walked around both night and day.The Mexican people are friendly. Wal-Mart,Mega Mall, beach golf course, Bank of Nova Scotia (The bank of N S gives very good exchange rates for C$,US,Euro with no additional charges, take your passport) are close by 15-20 minute walk. Also the neighbourhood has a Municipal Police Station,Catholic Church(Sat. mass 7pm only), Confectionary, all on Paseo Del Cactus within 2 blocks of the condo. The Condo has lots of parking for a car. The condo is assessable by stairs only. The Condo telephone is local calls only. I bought a phone card from Wal-Mart for 50 pesos (phone cards are only assessable at the Customer Service Counter).
On my stay I chose to walk so a backpack was essential, as well my suitcase was roller board type with wheels (I also brought my own shopping bag).Getting around San Jose was easy with numerous buses costing only 12 pesos one way . I went to other beaches Palmillia, Chilano for 12 pesos.I also went to Cabos San Lucas (which has a Costco) for the a day for 37pesos one way. Taxis are also available, but I never used them they are available at Mega and Walmart for the heavy grocery trips.
This bus service will get you to and from the airport for 37 pesos. If you get off around the bank of Nova Scotia or Walmart you will be close to Melvarosa. http://www.rutadeldesierto.travel/english/index.html
A taxi will cost about $40 US one way from airport. You can rent a car from Mex or Fox for as little as $1 US a day. 3rd party liability insurance is essential (read your credit card agreements regarding insurance coverage).
I would highly recommend Maureen and Eric's Condo for a short or long term vacation.

Lovely Accommodations and Views!!
Eric and Maureen's condo is tastefully decorated, super clean, spacious, and in the cutest Mexican neighborhood of Colonia Magisterial, centrally located between the beach and Old San Jose. Super quiet friendly neighbors and neighborhood. The condo is located at the top of the hill, allowing for the most breathtaking views and colorful sunrises. The plush bed with down comforter is heavenly to come home to after long days exploring the coast. The kitchen has new modern appliances and is well equipped to make meals at home. Fast Wifi and a Washing Machine. Maureen and the property manager Maria were easy to work with and very responsive. I walked, cabbed, and biked everywhere during my three week stay, though if you want to get out and explore the region I would recommend having a car. The condo is also walking distance some of the highest rated restaurants on Trip Advisor (Las Cazuelas del Don and El Grill), and the local mini-super mercado is only three blocks away. If you are looking for an alternative to the touristy "Hotel Zone," this place is unbeatable. Would definitely recommend and can't wait to come back!!
