The house is exactly as described. The kitchen had everything we needed. Ally was immediately responsive to answer my questions before and during our stay. They selected exactly the groceries we requested and delivered and stocked the house with care. Arrival and departure were simple thanks to Ally’s team. My husband helped two families during our stay find their way around the island because they didn’t have attentive property managers like we did. We loved everything about it! Thank you!!!

This property was better than expected. It was exactly as described, and was perfect for our family getaway. The house is very well appointed, kitchen well-stocked, and enjoyed the sunrise and sunset views from the roof top deck. Property manager, Ally, was timely and thorough in her communication. Skippy helped us get to and from the ferry and house. He even went above and beyond, and gave me a bottle of bug spray to protect us from the no see ems, which is a must if visiting the island in August. Will visit in North Captiva Island again and stay at this property if available.

This house has everything you need and more. The house is beautiful inside and out as well as the beaches. Beautiful sunsets and lots of dolphins to watch from shore. We also enjoyed the manatees at the docks. Please know there is still a lot of debris from Hurricane Ian that needs to be cleaned up. It was very sad to see so much devastation.

We had an excellent trip! Would definitely return! Great house and great location! The property management was excellent in helping get to the house with groceries and back to the ferry! Hope to visit again soon!

This property was perfect for our family Spring Break. It was very clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen was well equipped and they had plenty of beach and bathroom towels etc. We expired a flat tire with the golf cart and the management company was very responsive and resolved the issue in no time. We loved North Captiva Island, it is definitely a hidden gem! The island provides so much character and is the perfect get away to relax and enjoy family time.

Although we had a few hiccups during our stay I have to say communication was excellent and quick! The house itself is very comfortable and well equipped. The only complaints I prob have is there is no private bathroom in the master which I may have missed in the description, some the beach equipment was broken and/or dirty and I also may have missed it but I didn’t see anywhere where you were warned the island is still trying to rebuild so there is a lot of construction, debris and trash, it broke my heart to see how it was affected…but I have no doubt in no time it will be back to normal! The management company does an amazing job communicating and getting back to you fast…I think a lot of what happened was just do to the busyness of the season! This island never disappoints and we will definitely be back!

Thank you so very much for providing us with such a wonderful home to spend our Island vacation. You provided everything we could possibly need and then some. From the booking to the final goodbye, we were treated with such kindness and will certainly be returning!

This was our 2nd visit to this property and 1st time bringing the kiddos. We had an amazing time!
This property offers plenty of space for our group of 8 people. It's very clean and offers all of the amenities we could ask for. Can't wait to go back!

Perfect Getaway!!
Our family was looking for a beach vacation that was more secluded and not crowded. This was the PERFECT place for our family to reconnect, relax and refocus on spending quality time with family. The house was absolutely beautiful and equipped with everything you could need. The property managers made it an ease getting to the house from the ferry and were very friendly and accommodating. I would HIGHLY recommend staying here!! Our family will definitely be back!!

Love this house
We had an amazing stay at this property. The house was very well decorated, cozy and clean. The kitchen was stocked with everything we possibly needed to cook. Plenty of beach towels, which was a huge bonus and the beach toys were great for our kids. We loved everything about our stay and hope to be back at this beautiful home in the future!

Nice property on first visit to an interesting island
Comfortable stay for our family of 5 including 3 boys (14, 13, 8). Clean and spacious. No major issues during our stay. We took Pine Island taxi from airport, stopped for Publix instacart order, and used Island Girl ferry. All pretty smooth. Traffic was not an issue for us on taxi (about 50 mins) but apparently sometimes heavy through Mattlacha, so plan accordingly.
Property management, Shally's Seashells, responsive to a couple of our questions - seemed reliable for check in and check out. They even accommodated us to stay late on check out because no renters arriving that day - really helped us relax on our last day with flight leaving late...
Location a 4 because, not a beach front property, but ok with us. Beaches all around, including either end of air strip. Being on north part of island, usually had to travel around air strip to go places but not huge issue on this small island. Would be a long walk to NCIC.
There was 1 available golf cart - it was reliable and fit our family ok, even with some beach gear. We did rent another through NCIC for a couple days. Widow walk top of house nice, but limited view of water. House close to Mainstay which is good place to visit, also where Island Girl ferry docks. Not a bad cart ride to NCIC, about 5-6 mins. Wi-Fi on property worked well. Verizon service (phone and internet) for iPhone 11 spotty on island which was annoying (i.e. tried to look up Over the Waterfront restaurant and fishing charters while sitting at NCIC pool one day, but unable to search and make calls).
Overall would recommend this property. Thank you to owner and Shally's Seashells!

Footprints in the sand at the Barefoot house
Where do I start? The house was beautiful in the pictures and from the moment I booked our vacation I knew it would be perfect. The property manager was extremely helpful making sure we were prepared for our island getaway. Our flight was delayed flying in and they graciously helped adjust the changes with the travel from the airport to the island. The house was absolutely beautiful with the airy openness one would expect on an island. We felt at home immediately! The screened porch was perfect for hanging out in the evening and the view from the top deck was breath taking. The house was stocked amd had every amenity we could have ever needed. It was the perfect location. The house was nestled in beautiful natural surroundings. It was a short walk to the beach and at night the waves could be heard. It was everything I imagined it to be!! We will definitely be booking it again for our trip next year!

Longtime visitor first time reviewer.
We have been coming to NCI for years and I finally found a home worthy of a review. Well, to be fair the Island is worthy every time, but it never asks me to leave a review, and this was the first trip I rented the house.
I want to give a huge thanks to the home owners and Shally's Seashells. They went above and beyond from pick up to drop off. If Shally's couldn't help (like with the Nest) the homeowner was in contact within minutes to assist. They also suggested some really awesome excursions to do and fun events to check out for the Islands 100th Birthday.
So if you have never stayed on an Island, getting a hold of the property management company is like going to the DMV and taking a number.
But to have the assistance of them and the homeowner within minutes is unheard of. (Big Deals #1 & 2) Great job guys! Now Back to the house. (I wish I was) This house feels like a home, it's so calm and inviting with the perfect amount of everything. You can tell the home owners have not only put thought into everything but a lot of love as well. It is perfect for small or big groups, the outdoor space is as large and furnished as the indoor space, and just as clean. Making this Big Deal #3
The front porch should be listed as a second living room. There is a full set of comfortable (Big deal #4) outdoor living room furniture, rocking chairs, propane grill (so don't buy charcoal like we did) and this awesome large wood cooler that saved us a lot of trips up stairs. It was great for Ice delivery while we where out or inn but didn't want to take it up, it also doubled as a nice bar (Big deal #5)
Coming in from the "Front porch living room" is a full bathroom with laundry. (Big Deal #6)
When we did finally make it off the porch and upstairs it was perfect. Large dinning room table, huge island in the kitchen with bar chairs across the entire front of it. The furniture is clean, comfortable, and in great condition (Big Deal #7) The bedrooms are large and the beds are so comfortable, they even have tons of extra pillows and blankets (Big Deal #8) The kitchen has everything, you could do your thanksgiving dinner here. (Next time I'm bringing a ham. also Big Deal #9) They even have the reverse osmosis water system. (Big Deal #10)
The best view from the house is watching the sunset off the top deck. But if you want to see it from the beach its a1min golf cart ride in a new golf cart. (Big Deal #11) This place gets 11 stars from us and we will be back!

Great getaway with friends
This property was perfect for our “friends getaway” (three couples). We spent a week bobbing in the gulf and in the pool. We loved the rooftop deck and the proximity to everything.

First family vacay to North Captiva Island
This was my family's first visit to North Captiva Island. It was a wonderful adventure and everything was super smooth despite several legs of travel, to include a plane, a taxi, and a ferry. Even with Tropical Storm Fred trying to make it's way toward us, it was still really great and super remote and everything we were looking forward too in this vacation! The owner was quick to respond and the property manager, Ally, was helpful in giving us ideas for other activities to do before we arrived.
I will say, the reason I rated it a four, is because it is a beach place and I expected better beach things available to us! Two of the beach chairs that we saw at the house were broken and we reported it within the first several hours of our arrival, and they brought two rusty old chairs to us a couple of days later. There were only two small umbrellas that are real flimsy and one had a broken hole, so you couldn't screw it into the sand at all.
This house is the first we have rented that provided towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner, toilet paper, and paper towels, so that was super handy that we did not have to pack those things as well.
We enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others, just need to update your beach gear!

The Perfect Secluded Getaway
The aptly named, Barefoot Hideaway, offers guests a chance at a tranquil vacation while still feeling like home. North Captiva Island is known for its beautiful, unadulterated beaches and laid-back attitude, and this home fits right in with that vibe. The house is tucked away and secluded by beautiful trees but is only minutes away by golf cart (included with the vacation rental) to any of the island’s attractions.
The home has been recently remodeled and features an open floor plan, with a fully stocked kitchen, washing machine and dryer, and clean, modern furnishings. We found everything we needed to feel at home and prepare our meals while on vacation – from a gas grill, right down to the silverware. The property managers helped us from start to finish to load and unload our luggage and food from the ferry all the way to the house, gave us a tour, and were even available to deliver fresh fish straight to our refrigerator!
We also appreciated that there was access to beach chairs, an umbrella, and even sand toys for the kids. We really had everything we needed to make this vacation stress-free and special. And for days when you want a change of pace from the beach, we loved spending time at the North Captiva Island Club’s facilities, which were also included with this rental. The two pools, pool bar and grill, tennis courts, ping pong table, and kayaks were a quick golf cart ride from the house and were not usually very crowded.
We were able to see dolphins, manatees, gopher tortoises, and collect tons of shells all near the house. This was an unforgettable trip for our entire family. I would highly recommend both North Captiva Island and Barefoot Hideaway if you’re looking for a relaxing beach vacation away from the stress of life!

Amazing Home
This property was incredible! The location is great and so close to the beach on the North end. Everything is updated and had more than we hoped for in the kitchen. We made many great means and great memories! The homeowner was so responsive and helpful. A great guy all around. He went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of. We look forward to staying here again.

Beautiful, well appointed home, but…
We have been to North Captiva several times. This home, especially the kitchen, is well appointed and very clean. Very nice outdoor spaces, for the cooler months.
My complaints would revolve around Tortuga Properties, and the owners response to damage to the home. The check in process is horrible, and I feel bad for first time visitors, who all looked frustrated and clueless. There were 2 or three representatives from Tortuga to check in a ferry FULL of guests. Not organized, people and luggage everywhere. Island time, I get it, but could be much more organized.
On “check in” ( “ your luggage is at the house”) I discovered a gash in the drywall in the stair landing. I advised the “ management” of this immediately, and they thanked me and said a service order would be put in. Long story short, a week later the owner informed me I had damaged the property and the insurance I had purchased would cover it. No cost to me, but I don’t appreciate being blamed for something I obviously reported on my arrival. I guess the cleaning crew has more influence than the guest.
We always enjoy our stays on North Captiva. This is a very nice property, although I won’t be renting from this owner again.

Loved our barefoot hideaway stay!
This property was so perfect and amazing! Our kids had the best time and we fell in love with the island! The house had everything we needed and more. Duncan and Laurie answered all our questions and made everything easy. We can’t wait to come back to north captiva and would love to stay at barefoot hideaway.

This was a great beach house that had a well stocked kitchen and plenty of beach towels. It was spacious, updated and easily fit all 8 of us. The only issue was the lighting was a little dim.

Family vacation( 3 generations)
We were very pleased with " Barefoot hideaway" for our family stay of 12 days. The house was impeccably clean and spacious with all the "comforts of home" that you don't expect from a rental for our family of 8...lots of kitchen space and great sunrise and sunset views from huge top deck.Centrally located to beaches and other attractions with great house management services.

The house was much better than expected, clean spacious with great open floor of plan, combining the kitchen and living room. Just a couple of minutes walk to the beach. Plenty of space for our group. The water pressure is low but it’s ok since the rest of the house was amazing! Definitely coming back!

Beautiful home in a great location!
This home was decorated beautiful and had an open floor plan that made it nice for us all to socialize, also 3 levels of decks incase we needed our own space. One on top of the house to catch the sunset or look at all the stars, a screened in deck on the main level with a tv and a big deck upon entry of home and lots of space ground level just to hang out. Just a short walk to the beach down the road or we took the golf cart to the other side of the island to go shelling, having 2 golf carts was a plus! The home had everything we needed for our trip and the beds were so comfy that I just ordered the same one. We ate dinner out a couple nights at Barnacles..shrimp tacos were so good. We also stopped at Mangos a few times on our way to the beach to grab a cocktail....pineapple paradise was my favorite. Would definitely stay here again!

We felt the Management Contacts were no existent. No returned texts or calls when we reached out.
Property of beautifully decorated and a gourmet kitchen. It was well equipped inside. The beach accessories were worn out, Carts were fair but did need some maintenance. Grill needed Propane. Since were there during the recent hurricane, safety equipment needs to be there such as flash lights and candles. The management company needs to provide receipts for all food and beverage items purchased and we never received them.

Relaxing Getaway
My wife and I along with 2 other couples spent 10 days at this wonderful property. If “living the island lifestyle” for a week or two is on your agenda this is the place for you! Owner & staff were very responsive to the questions or concerns that we had. House had a great “open” concept with three separate outdoor levels to occupy. Great place to spend a vacation with family or friends. This house is fully equipped if you are inclined to cook or BBQ. The beaches are all phenomenal regardless if you like to shell, sun bathe, swim or just catch a sunrise/sunset!!! NCIC membership was also a great plus!!!! Will definitely book this property visiting North Captiva in the future!

My wife and I booked this trip and property the day before arrival. We were scheduled to spend a week in Seaside but our flight was cancelled hours before our scheduled departure due to hurricane Sally. After checking the weather forecast and flight availability, we started looking for a house on North Cap. There were several available, but this one looked clean, fresh, close to the beach, included a cart and most importantly- we received a message back from the property owner within several minutes of sending it. This was critical because we were trying to put together a trip in a little less than an hour. We were provided all of the information about the island, travel, house, property manager, etc. over the next few hours. Upon arrival, a crew met us at the dock to cart our luggage to the house and give us a quick rundown of the property. The owner also checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. The house was very clean. Paint, furniture and decor were all fresh and very new. A lot of rental owners skimp on kitchen appliances and utensils- NOT HERE. The kitchen had new appliances and a full stock of cooking utensils, pots, pans, bowls and glassware. The house is well laid out for a couple, like us, several couples or friends, or 2 families. The King size beds and extra pillows were comfortable. The upstairs deck was a great place to catch a sunset and nice breeze to finish off the day. The house has a classy layout with enough beach decor to make you fell like your on the island but not in the middle of a beachside souvenir shop. Having a washer and dryer was great too. We enjoy coming back home with clean clothes and not having to pack up wet bathing suits. This house is close to everything on the island- the 3 restaurants, community member's pool, the bay and the beach. We enjoyed not having to pack beach chairs or beach towels. If you're looking for a great place to stay that is comfortable on North Cap- this is it. While the photos of the house speaks for themselves, the property owner and management team went over the topo to make our stay perfect.

Absolutely fabulous week!!!
Wonderful experience.!!Great communication and help getting on and off the island. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay, very well stocked kitchen. We spent alot of time enjoying the screened porch and loved watching sunsets from the rooftop deck.We brought minimum items for beach, because the house had it all.
We were given great instructions for groceries and ferry to get on an off the island. We also had 2 golf cart to ride around the island. Enjoyed the pool and kayaks at the club as well. Would certainly recommend this home.! Cant wait to go back.
