About this house rental
Welcome to SECOND WIND a place to relax, reflect and restore.
SECOND WIND is perfect for a family beach vacation or a special bay/gulf fishing trip. Many guests come to Treasure Island for a "less commercialized" beach experience that still allows for access to all that the Galveston-Surfside area has to offer with a leisurely drive down the Bluewater Highway. Enjoy the beautiful San Luis Pass with access to bay side fishing & crabbing as well as the wide-open Gulf waters.
Treasure Island, on the west end of the San Luis-Galveston bridge is every fisherman's fantasy and a beach-goer's dream! Approximately 60 miles south of Houston, 30 minutes west of Galveston's Seawall, Pleasure Pier, Moody Gardens, world class restaurants and the Strand District and 13 miles from the quaint Surfside community.
This canal waterfront home with keyless entry is just seconds away from San Luis Pass, just minutes from the Gulf, and just a few blocks to nearby beaches. Inside Second Wind features Vaulted ceilings, an open dining/living floor plan and multi-level bedrooms. Nicely furnished, serene “beachy” colors, family friendly. Amenities include internet, WIFI, a 40" smart TV in the living room and a 32” smart TV in the bedrooms.
The Kitchen is stocked with everything you need to prepare and serve meals.
Two bedrooms with Queen size beds are located on the second level of the home. There is an open loft with a queen size bed. Twin air mattress available. Each bedroom has all linens needed for a comfortable stay.
One bathroom is located on second level bedroom/loft area. One bathroom is located in the master bedroom. Both have a shower/tub. A washer and dryer are also available in the second floor bathroom.
Bring your boat and store it in the covered in the water boat slip at the property. There is one kayak available with easy kayak access to the bay from canal.
NO easier access to the Gulf and bay water than TREASURE ISLAND!
Community boat ramp (on our canal) is available for guests use, as is the lighted community Fishing pier that is 100 yards from property. Fishing and crabbing is well known in the adjacent Christmas Bay.
Located on the water, fishing directly from the boat dock offers the opportunity to catch speckled trout, flounder, redfish or do some crabbing from the canal that feeds into Cold Pass. Fish cleaning table with running water. Canal is lit for excellent night fishing.
There is a golf cart friendly private beach entry for Treasure Island residents and guests located on the gulf side of the neighborhood. Public beaches in the area are much less crowded than Galveston or Surfside and can be accessed by vehicle with a two mile drive down the scenic Bluewater Highway. There is also a public playground available located just a few blocks away at San Luis state park!
You will love relaxing, sunbathing, fishing and the sunsets from the large deck overlooking the canal while taking in the saltwater air. The deck provides the perfect location while enjoying your first coffee or adult beverage of the day.

It was our annual Girls Weekend with my daughters and granddaughters. We had a blast. There was plenty of room for all of us. The beach was a short drive but not bad at all.

The house is on the canal is just a minute from the bay. It is clean and comfortable. Personal care products are provided in case you forgot something. The kitchen was well stocked. Remember to bring the mosquito repellent, cuz they were relentless. The neighbors we met are friendly. We spent some time conversing with them when we were done fishing.

We had fun 4 days! The house is in a quiet community away from all the hype of the sea wall. We enjoyed spending some time in Galveston we were ready to head back to the house for dinner and a nice evening at the house. Lots of entertainment for all to enjoy. We enjoyed fishing and relaxing with a movie.

Quietly nestled near San Louis Pass, great fishing right off back deck! Enjoyed the quiet getaway!

Great house, huge deck, great fishing and very friendly neighbors. Overall, a 10 out of 10!
The only recommendations I would have for future visitors who fish would be:
-The closest bait shop with live bait is about 12 miles away so if you want to go fishing early make sure you pick up live bait the night before
-Fishing in the canal behind the house is decent, but going to the dock on 1st street is much better
-Bring mosquito spray
-Wear reef boots while fishing on the shore because of the oyster reefs

Nice house, only down side to trip was mosquitoes outside. Make sure you bring bug spray. We had a great time!

Family memories to last a lifetime
We loved our week here. The home was as described. The neighbors were so friendly. There was one kayak but we brought some with us as well. My gang loved taking the kayaks to the mouth of the canal to catch flounder and we even saw dolphins a few times. The kids enjoyed fishing and catching crabs from the dock.
Customer Service was wonderful!! There were a few road bumps but the owner was on top of it! First, the brand new dryer did not work when we got there but a maintenance man was called out the same day and the owner made sure to tend to that so we could still go about our way and enjoy our stay. Second, we lost power due to a lightning strike and she kept us updated with the information from the electrical company until power was back on.

Memorial Day Trip
Overall everything was nice. We were told multiple times we would have access to the boat lift and were told the night before it wasn't available. My sister was allowing us to borrow her bay boat since they had a lift but wouldn't let us wet dock it so the main reason we got a bay house instead of a beach house was lost. Told at 3 different intervals we would have lift, 1st payment, 2nd payment, and then week before check in. There were some other issues but the owners quickly came over and fixed but still didn't move their boat like they told me they would. We have other family that have a house there too so we just went out on their boat so all wasn't lost but 99% of the people aren't going to have that luxury. My wife is probably glad I didn't have a boat so I didn't fish as much but if you are going to this great fishing spot and want a lift take note.

Relaxing Getaway
This was a wonderful experience and something different for our New Year celebration. The house was clean, well-stocked with essential kitchen/bathroom items, and comfy. Both AC and heat worked great! It was 80 degrees the first 2 days and 40 our last 2 days. Thank you so much for a great mini vacation.

Family Getaway
Jim and Sherry made sure that we had everything at the house that we could have needed for the weekend. Family enjoyed fishing and crabbing right of the dock at the house. First time staying and will be diffently booking another stay. Kids liked being able to have game night with the board games they provided.

Labor Day family fun
Loved our stay. Only a couple of things ants were a pest! Had to keep all food in fridge unless it was sealed. My husband and I needed to work and the WiFi never ended up working. Only other things air mattress have slow leaks and could not figure out water outside it worked sometimes and sometimes it did not. None of this would not make me want to stay there again. Loved all the family’s we saw in the canal.

We had a good time fishing, kayaking and going to the beach. We were disappointed that there was no washer/ dryer for clothes and no shade while trying to eat dinner at the picnic table.

Good Stay, Rules and Cleanliness need some work
It was a good stay.Everything listed on the property details match up except the following.. I would suggest taking pictures of all the rooms. The sizes are misleading. I could have sworn there were a total of 4 rooms detailed but only three in fact. I went to check and see if the couch was a pull out and found a pair of underwear and a switch blade. Yuck! No music outside after 9 or in house period, that was extreme we thought as most people go to the beach to have a good time. Washer and dryer was shown and we assumed we could wash our beach clothes but found a sign that said only if needed and didn't even work. Other than that it was a good stay.

Very peaceful
We enjoyed our much needed family vacation. The house exceeded our expectations. They supply a lot of your daily needed things which turned out to be a lifesaver. It was a very peaceful place to catch up and relax with the family. Will definitely be looking to visit again.

Family Getaway
This property is absolutely perfect! The owners provide so many essential items for your trip (beach towels, toiletries, board games, ect.) which meant less packing for me. Even though it rained most of our stay, my family and I had a fun and relaxing stay. We hope to plan another stay soon.

Collins Vacation
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Second Wind. The house was absolutely beautiful, very spacious, and had activities for the kids and adults. During our stay we kayaked, had family game night, took our boat out (it has a extra spot to park your own boat), family cook outs on the balcony ( we brought our own grill), went to the beach, and many more fun activities. We will definitely be booking again for our family trips.

Everything you need and more
I was very impressed that the owners tried to provide everything you might need or want. There were several tables outside on the deck, and a folding table inside (we just used it for board games). The canal is shallow and only has small fish, but the grandkids had lots of fun catching them. There is great fishing a short drive away, on the ocean side of the island. This is the only beach house I've seen that is carpeted, but it is new and clean and quite comfy!
