Beautiful room with very traditional Scottish vibes. The building itself is gorgeous, and conveniently situated right next to the ferry terminal. The bar staff were incredibly friendly and all employees were very helpful.
The room I was in was clearly newly refurbished, and the bathroom still seemed a little basic. The room was leaking a little too, not a lot, just a little drip in the corner of my room - no trouble to me but it was a little off-putting.

It’s a fabulous old hotel from the Victorian era with the original stain glass windows.
A lot of history and a lovely young couple own it and are doing it up

The breakfast was limited but good, full traditional Scottish.
The hotel was chilly at times, the C heating was not working. Heaters were however supplied and rooms were warm with them on.

lovely big hotel facing the water. The staff were very welcoming and the room was modern and comfortable. I will definitely be back xx

Staff were lovely & helpful
Room & bathroom were clean & tidy
Perfect location for our needs
Personally would prefer no music played outside.. very 1960/70’s
Bath towels small, but not a dealbreaker
View from room at the back would’ve been better without rubbish

The shower is walk in which suits my needs perfectly.
The staff could not have been more helpful or attentive, nothing was to much bother.
Stairs.

History just oozes from this lovely gem. Good bar, large rooms, gardens to sit in and enjoy the views staff are fantastic and bed very large and comfortable
Scottish breakfast a little disappointing
Ladies toilets need doors shaving and new locks for privacy

The work of the staff was wonderful. We had no money but the staff let us charge breakfasts. We lost our wallet and our means of payment. We were writing to the Church of LDS when we received a call from a merchant with whom we had lost our credit card. He drove from his store to the hotel and delivered us our money! And would not receive a tip'!

We did NOT cancel the reservation at the Royal Marine Hotel. When we arrived at the hotel around 8:45pm, we were told by the Royal Marine Hotel staff that Booking.com had made a mistake and that there were no rooms available. The front desk staff at the Royal Marine stated that they attempted to call us to inform us of this but we were hiking in the mountains all day and must have been out of cell phone range? Phone call history showed no missed calls. We tried to contact Booking.com customer service for assistance but got no answer. We spent the next three and half hours on the phone while driving from hotel to hotel trying to find a place to stay. We finally found a place over an hours drive away that cost us £50 pounds more and got to our room at roughly 12:30am.
We are unclear as to how this error happened but want any and all charges associated with the Royal Marine Hotel reversed on the credit card that was used to book the room.
Thank you.

I loved the historic feel of the place and the reception staff was so welcoming and friendly!

Our room was overlooking the ferry. It was comfortable and the decor was good. The architecture of the building is fascinating and the owners should be proud of their attempts to renovate it .It seems a lifelong project.
I arrived on my own for the first night and was upgraded to the sea view double we booked for the second night.
Whilst the room was comfortable with the electric heater the bathroom was freezing. Not ideal during a visit in January It was only when we arrived that I was told the kitchen and bar were closed for our stay. This was inconvenient but would have been a problem if we didn’t have a car and had to walk the 45 minutes to the town centre.
The building is being renovated but little care was taken to avoid a bag of cement by the front door

The view from the window and breakfast.
No wi-fi in the room, mold in the bathroom.

Staff were lovely, breathtaking old building, ease to get to.
Hotel is rather run down, and needs a good refurb. But small changes to what is there would make a massive difference eg fixing wallpaper, lick of paint some flowers or cushions. Bathroom carpet smelled a little unclean.

Very handy location for visiting the local countryside and especially Benmore Botanic Gardens. Also useful for the Greenock Ferry terminal which is opposite the hotel. A quaint town with some unexpected attractions. On the whole, Dunoon is a pleasant place to visit and is well situated for seeing the local gardens and the ferry is useful for missing Glasgow if you are visiting this area.
Dunoon is a large town and so has a reasonable amount of traffic, which is a bit jarring after travelling around the Highlands. Not really a dislike=, just a observation.
