The town of Lovell, Maine, should be on everyone’s bucket list. Nine-mile long Kezar Lake runs the length of Lovell, north to south (“from Stoneham to Stow,” as they say). Lovell has a great low-key golf course, the Lake Kezar Country Club, with the first nine holes designed by renowned golf course architect Donald Ross back in the 1920’s. It has Ebenezer’s Pub and Restaurant, adjacent to the second hole, with outdoor seating, a screened in seating area, and a nice little pub. It has a few small markets with character, including Rosie’s with a breakfast/lunch counter and the Center Lovell Market for essentials. It has two town beaches you can paddle or drive to, including one with a stunning view of the lake and mountains. And it has local walking/hiking options for families, including the Greater Lovell Land Trust’s Chip Stockford Reserve, a short walk or bike ride down our dirt road, and Sabattus Mountain, a small hike with a big view. The charming Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library is in Lovell Village, with two tennis courts and a children's playground behind it.
Numerous other big and small hiking options are within striking distance, ranging from easy walks into mountain waterfalls where you can swim, to 4,000 footers, to Mount Washington itself. The tallest mountain in the Northeast, Mount Washington also can be summited by car or cog railway.
This house is 25 minutes to Bridgton, which has a Hannaford supermarket, small shops and restaurants, Renys ("A Maine Adventure"), the Magic Lantern cinema, the Bridgton Twin Drive-In for a throwback experience, and Shawnee Peak Ski Area at Pleasant Mountain. It’s 20 minutes to Fryeburg, home to Maine’s Blue Ribbon Classic (the Fryeburg Fair) held the first week of October, Saco River canoeing, a section of the Mountain Division Rail Trail, a small supermarket, candlepin bowling for rainy days, a covered bridge and a cool little coffee shop (Fair Grounds Coffee). 35 minutes to North Conway, gateway to New Hampshire’s Mount Washington Valley, and home to many outlet stores. And 45 minutes to Bethel and Newry, home to Sunday River Ski Area.
We’ll leave a notebook for you with lots more unsolicited opinions about what there is to do. Not to mention some board games, puzzles and books to help you enjoy the simple peace and beauty of this special place.

Comfortable secluded home in the woods with an amazing lake view.

We were in Lovell for a fall wedding at a nearby farm venue. This wonderful house was a great home base for our prep, with hiking trails very nearby, leaves turning, the lake, comfy beds, and a tremendous collection of books including lots of AMC guides and Maine lore. Our host was very kind, offering early check-in and late checkout which reduced stress for our busy, DIY crew. We will love to come back when there is more time for plain old relaxation!

My wife and I had such a wonderful time staying here with our two dogs. The house was comfortable, clean, and charming; the location was quiet and serene; the views were beautiful. We had a great weekend hiking around. The host could not have been nicer or more attentive. We'd happily go back, thank you!

My friends and I enjoyed our stay at this comfortable home on Kezar Lake. We loved the large windows and the light, the deck with its view of the lake, and enough bedrooms for our group. Our host, Nancy, was very responsive to our questions and flexible with arrangements. We would definitely return again.

My family loved our stay. The kayaks were in great shape. The house was clean and comfortable. The only complaint is that it would have be a bit safer if there had been a railing on the front walkway (it was especially slippery because of all the rain). The lake is so beautiful, not too developed, and we saw many loons.

We rented this location for a weekend and it is everything you would expect from a lake house. Nice dock, great water, canoes/kayaks, and a very comfortable home. We would definitely stay here again.

Great little spot. Had 8 me friends there for a fishing weekend. Geographical location is nice because it’s equidistant to bridge and southern section of KL. House had plenty of bedrooms and nice deck. No fire pit but the setup gravitates you to the tv room as it’s quite spacious. Nice house . Would recommend!

My brothers, uncles, and cousin came up to ice fish in February. The house was exactly as advertised and we had an amazing stay. Nancy was great and the house is in a beautiful spot on a beautiful lake. We all hope to come back and enjoy the lake in the summer.

Great place! Looks like it would be a super place during the summer months as well!

We decided to make Thanksgiving more special this year so we rented a place by the lake for our family and it did not disappoint. I brought bowls, casseroles dishes and serving pieces from home to make sure we had everything we needed but as it ended up the home was very well stocked with dishes and accessories that I did not have to bring as much. The kitchen worked out well to cook such a large dinner as well as our other meals and the large dining room table worked perfectly for the six of us and it is big enough to seat a lot more.
The only issue was my own in forgetting a couple of things at the house and when I called Nancy to tell her about this she could not have been nicer and she arranged to have the items dropped off near my home by a family member.
We found the house to be roomy and cozy and an especially nice feature is the fact that each room has its own thermostat so everybody was happy with the temperatures in their own rooms. All and all we had a wonderful weekend of food, football and family time.

We had a wonderful stay at this property. Nancy was so quick to respond with any questions I had right from my very first inquiry. .
The house has everything you could need- we are a family of 8 and had plenty of room. We enjoyed grilling our dinner and eating on the deck and enjoying the nature around us.
We spent most of our time on the water. Having access to all the water toys was amazing! This was my groups introduction to paddle boarding - and everyone loved it!! In the morning I would sit on the deck with my coffee and watch the Belted Kingfisher hunt for his breakfast. In the afternoon the Pileated Woodpeckers would come by and run up and down the pine trees. We do not fish but we did see people fishing and it looked like there was plenty of fish to catch! Sitting and watching all the wildlife around the lake was incredibly peaceful
The location is perfect as well. When you are at the house- you are in the woods and away from everything- yet if you pop in the car you are a very short drive away from many attractions. We ate dinner at the Loons nest a few nights- it’s right down the end of the road and the food is great!
We explored Norway and Bridgton and enjoyed all the local shops and cafes and we also went into New Hampshire to North Conway a few times as well. There are so many hiking trails in the area- far too many to explore in our one week. This was a great vacation- we would definitely come back here!

Great lakeside home
We (family of four) very much enjoyed our stay in this comfortable, lakeside home. It was clean, the kitchen had what we needed, and the dock was a great spot. The deck is spacious and having kayaks, a canoe, and paddle boards on the property was a big draw for us. We used all of those on the beautiful lake. We saw (and heard) loons daily and spotted a bald eagle many times while hanging out on the dock. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway, this is a great spot. Nancy checked in with us via email several times and was very responsive.

Comfy cottage, nice lake
We stayed with our adult children and our dogs. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. Owner was available and promptly responsive. Check in and out was a breeze. I wasn't sure how we would like staying on the "narrows" of the lake, but it was a great spot. No wake zone meant that it was quiet. Nice swimming. We used paddleboards and kayaks, and rented a boat from the nearby marina. DO get a fishing license...my son got a ticket while fishing off the dock.

Everything you need!
This was an awesome find. The house had absolutely everything you'd need for a weekend away on the lake. We rented a pontoon at the marina and took it around the lake... gorgeous! So amazing the house comes with kayaks and paddle boards as well! Will definitely be back.

Great getaway
We stayed during the Christmas weekend and had a lovely time. The views of the lake from the family room were awesome. The privacy of the cabin was appreciated. Plenty of room for families. We were able to snowshoe at a nature trail close to cabin. It would be great place to stay for the summer. Really has that Maine family vacation vibe.

A perfect getaway for our family. We kayaked, canoed and swam, hiked; played games
The hosts had everything we needed from plenty of towels and linens to cookware to outdoor recreation. The binder with household info and tips was well organized and we referred to it often. We hope to return!

Wonderful lake house
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Stockford's lake house. It was clean, well-stocked, and a great home base for spending some time on Kezar Lake. Being in The Narrows, we had great access to both the Lower Bay (great for fishing) and the upper portion of the lake (great for swimming, water skiing, etc.) Check in and out was very simple.

Home away from home
Stayed in this lovely house in the end of July and absolutely loved it. We are two families total of 4 adults and three teenagers and everyone had plenty of space, everyone had stuff to do and places to go. We kayaked, paddle-boarded, swam in the lake - enjoying clear water and company of magnificent loons. Fully equipped kitchen stocked with all possible spices, pots and pans allowed us to cook almost every night, a diner 2 minutes from us right next to the bridge provided delish lobsters and crab cakes. The house has maps and books on all the local trails which we visited almost every day -they opened up to us with beautiful views from top of mountains, cool streams to jump into, mushrooms and wild blueberries to pick on our way. At night we cozied up in the living room to watch the Olympic Games 2021. Every room had comfortable mattresses (which is super important!). We had an amazing time and we’re so grateful to our hosts for letting us into their home for a week! Hope to do it again!

Peaceful getaway on a spectacular lake
My husband, three teenage grandsons took full advantage of all the lake has to offer. We spent endless hours canoeing, paddleboarding. kayaking and hiking. Loon, heron and even bald eagles were just a few of the bonuses. The house is perfect for relaxing and recharging, though honestly we spent little time indoors!

Winter Get Away
The house was on a frozen lake with beautiful views. The front of the house had sliders that allowed easy access to the deck and beautiful views of the lake. We were there in the winter and it was a wonderful getaway - no crowds! One day of skiing at Shawnee Peak and 2 days at Sunday River. There was a hiking trail nearby and sledding for the kids within walking distance. Open area with nice big dining room table that easily sat 9 people. We were able to play games and cards with plenty of room. WiFi with Cable and 4 bedrooms. The master bedroom commanded gorgeous views of the lake. More linens than we could possibly need (and we had 3 boys with us). Two couches made it easy for the entire family to sit in the family room side of the great room. Host checked in with me by email on day of arrival to make sure everything was OK. Four bedrooms and two baths worked out perfectly. We would definitely go back again!! A great get away!

Lovely holiday vacation
My husband and I had a great vacation over the Christmas holiday here! The house was cozy and had a beautiful view of the lake. We did some winter hikes in the nearby White Mountains as well as some shorter walks closer to Kezar Lake. The house was well cleaned and felt very COVID-safe. Nancy was responsive and helpful! We had a really nice stay.

Great house in a great location!
The one thing that you cannot appreciate from the pictures is the view. There is a view out of the big windows in the living area out onto the lake that are just breathtaking. Amazing views from every angle. We enjoyed a week here hiking in the area and enjoying the lake. The house is comfortable and pretty much has everything you need. We also needed WIFI for work and school and that worked well for us (had several people online with minimal issues). The owner was super responsive to any inquires. The location and view really make this house.

Kezar Lake Getaway
Wonderful stay with our adult kids and grandkids at this lakefront home - we felt we truly extended summer. The lake is gorgeous - clear and clean with views of the white mountains. The owners provide canoe, kayaks, paddleboards, etc. so we spent most of our time playing off the dock. The marina on Kezar was closed for the season, so one day we rented a motorboat on Long Lake for tubing and waterskiing. The house is simply furnished but clean. We appreciated that the kitchen was well stocked with cookware and utensils and that all linens and towels are provided. The washer and dryer were a plus as well. You just need to bring yourselves!
