This was the perfect little cottage for our 3-night trip with friends! The house had a couple of issues, like an empty propane tank when we arrived, broken dishwasher, and some stained/outdated furniture, but you can't beat the sweeping views, two decks, and easy walk down to the water's edge. We saw seals and porpoises every day, and enjoyed paddle-boarding and swimming right from the house. It's a cute little island and an easy drive into Wiscasset. The house could use a little TLC, and I wish they had updated us on the status of the dishwasher and checked that there was propane as promised, but we'd stay here again!

We got to the home and it was not as described in photos. The left side of roof was covered with moss and there were dead branches all over it. The front door was covered in cobwebs. Rusty nail sticking up from the threshold molding entering the kitchen. Also that threshold was not flat to the floor so it’s a tripping hazard. There is an overwhelming smell of mold/mildew/musty odor. The sliders and window to open them and they were all covered in dead bugs and cobwebs. The window screens were warped and some did not line up. One of the sliders as well as one of each sliding window was fogged over with a film. This foggy film would not dissipate after airing the place out. There was a putrid/foul smell coming from the cabinet under the kitchen sink. The furniture was torn and dirty. There is a teak table on the deck which was broken and unusable. There were cobwebs on the ceiling in common area and bedrooms. The beds were so uncomfortable, box springs had rips in it. The lower level smells worse than the upstairs with the same foggy, cobweb covered windows and slider. The fans in the house were covered in grey dust. I’d be happy to share photos if needed.

We loved that this is off the beaten path so no traffic noice or machinery but only about 20 minutes to most places and easy access to farther places Because of where it is we had no problems finding restaurants on the water with patios and views. Any issues I had were handled right away (we couldn't figure out how to turn on the shower and they were going to send someone out right away before we realized you pull down on the faucet lol)
Looks just like the picture, comfy furniture including the beds and views to die for. Would definitely recommend it to others. Such a pretty place and lots of dishes, plates silverware, cups etc in the kitchen so that was nice. So many windows made it bright and beautiful views from anywhere in the house. Nice living room downstairs also with smart TV so you can watch anything you like.
Only negative was the door lock... Why 10 numbers?

We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed the cottage. Kitchen was well stocked. Bath had nice water pressure and plenty of hot water for 2 of us. Beds were comfy. We didn’t use the lower floor at all and would have liked a tv/couch upstairs. The beauty of this place is the huge windows and views of the water. Lots of sea birds including a bald eagle that perched right above us. Quite a sight to wake up to. Saw a seal chasing fish and fisherman pulling traps. We got two nights of storms (and lost power for a couple hours) but the days were warm and sunny. Even in the 80s the house stays cool under the trees and constant breeze. It was a bit of a drive to get up to the main road but the seclusion is worth it. The driveway is tight and turning around requires your full attention. Loved Boothbay, the botanical gardens and the Montsweag restaurant. Would stay here again.

Beautiful property. Saw seals from living room catching fish. Front door did not lock but it’s a safe neighborhood but a bit isolated. Kitchen is well equipped for cooking. Laundry facilities were a great help!
Gorgeous views of the water and excellent service and communication.

If you have any kind of allergies or are sensitive to mold/mildew smells, this home is not for you! The home is built on a huge rock on the water’s edge. So it is extremely damp and has a horrible odor. We booked it for three nights and were unable to stay even a single night. The property manager (Vacasa) responded quickly when we notified them with our concerns upon check in and seemed understanding of our dilemma. However, they only offered to refund our cleaning fee (aka very minimal refund) when we told them we could not stay. The home is in desperate need of multiple dehumidifiers, fans, DampRid, etc. There is a huge, old looking dehumidifier in the living room. But there is a “Do Not Use” label on it. Other things to know… Description of property has dishwasher listed as amenity. But again, there is a “Do Not Use" label on it. The home was not maintained to our standards… Appliances not working, rusty shower rod, furniture stained and frayed, no screen on sliding door, windows fogged, only a couple of windows were operational and many bugs and spider webs inside the home. We have many more minor complaints and would not recommend this rental to anyone.

We needed a quiet place to visit with elderly aunt and uncle. This was a great place with all the living space on the same floor with spacious area to visit.

Unable to enter on arrival. Access code did not work and unable to open with key. Had to wait for someone to come let us in. This woman said we would get some sort of rebate. Still waiting for word on this

We couldn’t have been happier. Perfect view, perfect weather, nice furnishings, and just the romantic getaway we needed! It was a perfect slice of heaven in Westport Maine and we will be back!!

We loved our stay; cabin was extremely well-equipped with lobster pots, good knives (and lots of cutlery) and most importantly, comfortable beds. I was a tad nervous to book the cabin due to some reviews posted here, but we found the layout comfortable despite the lack of a living room couch. The deck has a wooden dining table with enough chairs and extra cushions. We saw otters, lobster fishermen, jumping fish and many birds. There are nearby cabins/rentals but we did not see a single person over the two night stay.
The only issue we had was with the front door. The keypad wasn’t working, and after calling Vasca, we still weren’t able to get into the key box either. Once we got additional directions, we were able to get in but we found locking the door to be another ordeal. The handle to the home does not appear to be working and it really should be replaced. Despite the extra hassle, we still loved the stay.
And of course, the million dollar view; super relaxing and beautiful.

We enjoyed our stay in Maine. The unit was exactly as advertised, so no surprises. Services are all about 8 miles away in Wiscasset but it was an easy ride. Lots of time on the deck overlooking the bay made the stay wonderful, exactly what we were looking for.The unit has lots of places to sit inside and out and the kitchen is very functional. The amenities are not lavish but this is a Maine cottage and it is very nice.
Enjoyed the stay and would return if we are in Maine again

Check in was weird, digital code did not work and had to call Vacasa to gain entrance to cabin. Smoke alarm was going off when we entered the property. No firewood for listed fireplace, but plenty of soap for washer and dishwasher. Only one mirror in the entire place.
The starkness of the accommodations aside, the view is beyond amazing. We rearranged furniture for the duration of our stay to enjoy it to the maximum. Visited the shoreline several times, but would suggest caution if you have bad knees or poor balance. The seaweed covered shore is gorgeous but can be tricky to navigate.
Really well stocked kitchen with pretty much any cooking implements you could need, but be sure to pack coffee and/or tea! No courtesy tea/coffee on site. Nearby groccery stores make it easy to replace anything you need.

As you can see only 1 couch in cottage. The couch was old, beaten and not at all like pictured. It seemed to fold up where you could not use so there is no place to sit comfortably and enjoy view

I would buy this cottage if I could! What a lovely spot. You feel a million miles away from your troubles. The house is spotless and well-appointed. Will be visiting again!

Great quiet location lots of afternoon sun right on the water. Great kitchen and comfortable beds. Only downfall no love seats or couches only a pull out couch in the basement that was not worthy of sitting on . Otherwise a great place

We had a great time on Westport. The house was exactly as described. The view was better than described! Look forward to returning!!

Loved the place, it was beautiful, private, and quiet. However, if we had known there weren’t screens on big windows, the spiral staircase guardrails we’re far apart, and the porch slats were so wide open we would have chosen a more age appropriate option.
There wasn’t a guide so we didn’t know where to take trash or how to clean up etc. the basement door was unlocked when we arrived which was odd, but no big deal.
Overall it’s a great space, but not child friendly and could use some love.

Peaceful Stay
Secluded, quiet place with nice views of the bay, although access to the water is a bit problematic. Rooms were clean and neatly furnished however better lighting and more comfortable seating would be nice.

So much potential
A lovely house in a beautiful location. Lots to do in this general area, including some great restaurants (highly recommend driving to Boothbay Harbor!).
Won't stay with VACASA again, though. Main complaints were poor communication and some maintenance issues on property. Clean enough, but lots of stuff was broken or in bad repair.
This house has so much potential! Maybe if it was managed by an individual, but it seems that VACASA is too large to manage all of these small, remote properties sufficiently.

Stay
The listing was listed as Wiscassett, this is not accurate. The couch was broken and not useable. The house was clean. The view was spectacular. But the place absolutely left something to be desired for the price, wouldn’t stay there again, there are much better places with equally spectacular views. If you wish to watch tv, the tv is in the basement and you can sit on hard wooden chairs.

Beautiful
This rental was just beautiful. It was relaxing to just sit and look out at the views. You have privacy and you are one with nature. Great experience

Great place to get away and enjoy beautiful scenery.
Remote waterfront location for a unique style of architecture. Perfect for an adult couple looking for a relaxing getaway. Would have been better with a couch on the main floor instead of 4 easy chairs. Also grab bars in tub/shower since the tub surface is quite slippery. We would definitely return to this lovely property.

Quiet retreat
This was a nice place to stay for a few days. The views were good. Something worth mentioning is there in no TV on the main living level or bedrooms just downstairs in a large living area. The shower floor also felt (squishy?) Not very stable... the place was clean and overall it was a nice anniversary getaway

An Amazing Getaway
This is a gorgeous and warm little cabin right on the bay in Wiscasset. While the property is very far away from most things, if you choose this place, you're getting it for the seclusion and not the surrounding amenities. But if you want to go anywhere, Portland is only an hour drive and most other great eats, hikes, ships are 30+ minutes. The bed is a little too soft and was tough to sleep on, but other than that it was a phenomenal place to stay, we'll be back!

Spacious and open floor plan, a bit off the beaten path, but immensely quiet for a handful of visitors. Watch the tides go in and out, morning sunrises over the water and it’s moored watercrafts. Lots of windows (albeit ones that can’t be opened) and skylights. Plenty of deck space outside for BBQ or just relaxing. There’s a bit of a walk from an uphill parking spot (no garage), so this might be a concern for those with ambulatory challenges. We didn’t try out the minimal entertainment features other than WiFi. Shower water plenty hot. Tap water plenty tasty. Interior is a little dark past sunset. Bedrooms spacious. Overall, quiet getaway.

Quiet retreat on Midcoast of Maine
We stayed in this cozy cottage for a weekend in September and explored the Midcoast via bike trails, on foot and in kayaks. The cottage is located right by the water so we were able to put in right on the rocky coast (there's no dock) - be sure to know when high tide is. The cottage was well appointed, clean and newly painted. There is now a comfy coach downstairs too. We would def. stay here again.

Wide angle water views
Perfect for 2 to 4 guests but with only 1 bath. Vacasa agent Kevin was fabulous responding to several issues during our stay. Could use a more comfortable area for TV viewing.

Beautiful view and home
We had a quick overnight to this beautiful home with two friends. The view is stunning, the home had all we needed to have a great night. Fully stocked kitchen, very comfortable beds and just a great place all around, in a beautiful place. Quiet and tranquil - we saw deer, and a harbor seal and sea birds hunting in the morning over calm waters. Highly recommend!
