About this house rental
Home away from home! 4-bedroom home with expansive screened-in porch facing the lake. If you want to get-away, enjoy all the outdoor activities of the mountains, but keep the comforts of home, this vacation home is for you.
The kitchen has stainless steel appliances and a quartz countertop with seating for two at one end. All the necessary cooking pots, pans, appliances and dishware are there, as are basic cooking staples and spices. The indoor dining area next to the kitchen comfortably seats 4-6 people. But the real mealtime joy is the adjoining dining area on the screen porch.
The screen porch extends the full width of the house. It has a dining table for 6-8. It also has a cozy seating area for two at one end for enjoying a morning coffee or to curl up with a good book. A couch and casual seating at the other end accommodate a larger group. There’s also plenty of space to set up folding tables on the porch for games or jigsaw puzzles. You could easily find yourself spending most of your time on the screened porch!
The rest of the first floor includes the living room area with seating around a large stone fireplace. Put your feet up and enjoy a book from our collection or find a good show on TV. The master bedroom, bath and walk-in closet are on the other side of the first floor. The spacious bedroom with a king-size bed has plenty of room to spread out. The bathroom has two sinks, a tiled shower with a shower-seat, and a large walk-in closet with tons of room.
Upstairs are three more bedrooms. The largest of them has two full-size beds, two dressers, a couch and still has plenty of space! It has a dormer looking out on the front yard and triple windows on the lake side. The other upstairs lake side bedroom has a queen bed and also has triple windows overlooking the lake. The upstairs front bedroom has two twin beds with a dormer window looking out the front and double side windows. Completing the upstairs is a full bath. It has a shower-tub combination and a quartz top vanity. There is also plenty of cupboard space for toiletries.
If the weather is bad or you are just tired from being outside, there is a lower-level game room. The kids will enjoy this colorful get-away spot. There is a second refrigerator down there that is a perfect place to grab a soda. Then make some popcorn, play some board games, foosball or pop in a good DVD to while-away a rainy afternoon or evening.
The front yard includes a quiet garden area that gets the afternoon sun. Adirondack chairs surround a central table. It's a great place for an iced tea and a book!. Or sit in the shade on the front porch in the rocking chairs or on the park bench.
The path down to our private dock is made easier with timber-tie steps. Our dock has a panoramic view of most of the lake, enjoys a nice breeze and gets sun until mid-afternoon. It’s perfect for swimming or boating. At the lake you will find the canoe and four kayaks. Paddles and lifejackets are stored up at the house. We also have plenty of swim noodles and floats. After dark, take a flashlight walk down to the dock and check out the stars or walk down early in the morning and talk to the flocks of geese (and the occasional early fisherman).
Finally, enjoy exploring the area. There are three waterfalls on the lake which you can enjoy by renting a boat at the marina (you can kayak to the closest one, but the other two are further away). If hiking is your enjoyment, the house is in a gated community off two private mountain roads, each approximately 2 miles long. So, you can enjoy long walks without barely meeting another soul or there are many nearby hiking trails. Twenty-five minutes away, Cashiers is a wonderful small town with plenty of quaint stores (along with all the necessities) and lots of places to eat. Nearby Highlands has upscale stores and dining. And of course, Asheville - which is about a 90-minute drive - has innumerable things to enjoy.
Come enjoy the comforts of home and the beauty of the North Carolina mountains.

Family and friends long weekend on the lake. Perfect location, excellent amenities (kayaks/canoe, floats), and thoughtful and responsive host. This will be my first choice when staying at the lake in the future.

We absolutely loved our time at Lake Glenville at Cottage on the Point! The house is exactly as described, but even better in real life. Tastefully furnished, immaculately clean, and my 11-year-old daughter loved that she got to sleep in the "Tar Heels" room. We spent many hours on the screened porch overlooking the lake, reading in the hammock, enjoying morning coffee, and listening to the sounds of nature. This is such a serene area and having dock access to the lake was a dream. We used the kayaks every day to go to the waterfall around the point and swam in the warm lake water.
The surrounding areas are worth a visit too. We went to High Falls (hike to large waterfall), Cashiers (Whiteside Brewery), Highlands (upscale town with a great hike to views of Smoky and Blue Ridge Mountains), and Slide Rock (rock slide for kids and adults). We also ate at Happ's and Slab Town Pizza. Both were great!
There is so much to do in this beautiful area if you want to be active or staying at the Cottage and enjoying the lake and home relaxing.
We live in the Bay Area, so Lake Glenville was a long way from home, but we are already talking about going back next year to stay at Cottage on the Point! Thank you, Joyce, for all of your hospitality and communication too!

We loved the screened in porch with the comfortable couch and the large dining table. We spent much of our time out there. The kids loved tubing, fishing and swimming off the dock. The house was well equipped with everything we needed. It was a long distance from town but we were aware of this before we rented and planned our trips to town accordingly. We had a great time and would definitely return!

I recently rented this wonderful home for five nights. It was just as pictured in the photos, but the entire interior seemed fresh and new.
I was glad to find a well equipped kitchen, an enormous screened porch with a large dining table, comfortable mattresses in every room, and a delightfully decorated basement game room where the foosball table was a huge hit with our grandchildren!
Access to the lake is down a steep incline with many steps, which was difficult for my elderly mother, and which had everyone’s hearts pumping during the climb back up. Once you are on the spacious dock at lake level, you will not want to leave!
The water is deep, clear, and cool. The owner graciously allows use of her four kayaks. My 6 year old granddaughter was thrilled to make a solo trip to the small island just opposite.
The house is 25 minutes from Cashiers on a winding mountain road. We ate lunch there one day, but did not venture out at night. We felt very secure in the gated neighborhood.

I almost don’t want to tell everyone how great this property is because I feel like we’ve found a hidden gem! But it deserves to be recognized! We had so much fun! Kayaking or just hanging out on the back porch…everything was so relaxing! I definitely recommend renting a boat from the nearby boat rental place. Also…Whiteside Brewing…AMAZING! There are 3 different waterfalls close by on the lake that are easy to get to with a boat. Owner communication is top notch. There was a tree down on the road when we drove to the property. It was late so I hated calling her, but she was super helpful in telling us another way to get there. This is definitely on our list for a possible annual family vacation! Note: you’ll definitely want to do some grocery shopping for meals and use the full kitchen available as most restaurants are about 30 minutes away, but that didn’t bother us at all!

Wonderful home on a great part of the lake
The home was wonderful for our family to stay in. We had 6 adults and 4 children and the home fit us well. The back porch is simply amazing and where we collectively spent the majority of our time.

House is well-kept and very clean. Home owner was accommodating, quick to respond to questions, and has all of the small details you don't see in normal rental houses covered.

Fun at the Lake
We had a great time at this comfortable house! We spent much of our time on the gracious back porch and fun dock. The house was equipped with kayaks and canoes, some lake floats, and plenty of towels. There weren't kid-sized life jackets, so keep that in mind when you pack. And the mattresses weren't super comfy, but the house was up to date, the den was cozy, and the landscaping was beautiful!

Wonderful home with amazing views!
We visited this location because it's fall and the leaves are changing! While a distance from towns, it was a peaceful and restful location! The bathrooms and kitchen are recently updated and it has an amazing porch which overlooks the lake! We canoed and kayaked to the falls -what a delight! We thoroughly enjoyed the fireplaces - inside and out! It was a wonderful family connect time! There is plenty of space for at least 8 people possibly more with small children! I found it easy to connect with the owner and she responded quickly! She was kind and helpful! If your desire is to get away from the hustle and bustle, this is a wonderful location!

Great Lakehouse!
We really enjoyed everything about our stay. The house and property were clean, attractive and very well appointed. Communication with the owners was great and they were very accommodating. Loved the screen porch overlooking the lake, the fireplace and we even made use of one of the kayaks while we were there. There were so many nice touches that it made us feel welcome and that this home was truly loved. We would definitely stay there again.
