About this house rental
HISTORY & ARCHITECTURE: The Church House is a 2-bedroom vacation rental listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Wallace, Idaho. The building was originally a tiny chapel, built around 1905 to serve the local mining population. The main room features stained glass arched windows and vaulted barrel ceiling with a living area, long dining table, open kitchen, and old-time upright piano. Gorgeous!
NEW March 2022: just added a brand new furnace with central air conditioning!
NEW 2023: a gorgeous new shower! SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS: Two bedrooms flank the main room. The queen bedroom features French doors to the brick patio; the king bedroom features stained glass windows. Both rooms are cozy with comfy beds. There is a twin daybed in the living room. Additionally, there is a fold-out loveseat in the entry/vestibule area and a rollaway bed that can be placed anywhere (niether is great for Grandma or Grandpa, but ok for the kiddos!).
BATHROOM: One small but cute bathroom, located next to the Queen room, has a shower, no tub. Towels and toiletries provided.
LOCATION: Conveniently located across from the historic library right on the edge of the business core, it's a very easy walk to all the shops, restaurants, museums, tours, and pubs. It's also right across the way from the Couer D'Alene bike trail/river, and has easy highway access for the nearby Route of the Hiawatha bike trail, Lookout Pass Ski Resort, and Silver Mountain Ski Resort. It's super easy to find when you arrive, right on the main road into town. There's tons to do in Wallace, and staying at the Church House will put you in easy proximity to all of it.
AMENITIES: The full kitchen is quirky since it used to be a coffee shop, but it has all you'll need to cook a meal, including a full sized fridge and stove/oven, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and coffee, pots/pans, dishes, utensils, cooking oil and some spices, etc. It does only have one very small sink currently, and no dishwasher, so you might find it more convenient to eat out with lots of great options a very short walk away. There is also a washer and dryer that guests can use, and a cabinet full of board games -- plus a nice big table to play them on. The TV is on a rolling cart and can be moved to wherever you'd like to watch TV; it has an Amazon firestick for movies, shows, and music, plus a DVD player and a collection of DVDs.
EXTERIOR SPACES: There is no backyard but there is a nice large brick patio on the front/side, with table and chairs to enjoy a glass of wine or morning coffee with mountain/forest views and the sound of the river (and yes, the occasional semi passing by on the highway -- unfortunately). PARKING is available on the street just steps from the door. Bikers may bring expensive bikes into the house if they'd like; there's room in the entry area to park them.
SMOKING allowed outside away from all open doors and windows.
PETS allowed with a $15/nt. fee per pet. No pets allowed on furniture. No grass in yard for pets to do their business but across Fifth street theres a pet area that can be used.

It was the perfect location for our group. Ee had tons of family in toen for a function at the Elks. Everything within walking didtance. Also loved that ee could comfortable watch a movie in the living room. If your a sensitive sleeper bring earplugs as it can be noisy with the freeway traffic and right on the main road into town.

We had planned on biking the Hiawatha, but the weather was poor so we chose to skip the ride and explore Wallace. The Church House is the perfect location for people looking for a unique and fun stay and it's a very close walk to great restaurants and quirky shops, it's an adventure and a place to remember because it is so different. The only negative was the noise of the highway, but ear plugs were provided and it really wasn't too bad for our group. The beds were comfy and the house is very clean. I'd stay there again.

Such a cute house. Had everything you would need!

This place was awesome. Very comfortable. Close to anything you'd want. Dog park down the street a few blocks, Trail of the Coeur d'Alene access a block away and food in every direction. We had 2 dogs and a 1-1/2 yr old child with us and everyone was so comfortable at the house. Queen bed was very comfortable. We didn't use the King. Barbara was very accessible by text for any questions. The only thing that could be an issue for some are the very bright street lights outside that light up the house and the traffic from the freeway. You are very close and can hear the large trucks. The only one in our party bothered was one dog that hid in the bathroom at night. Otherwise everything was perfect. I would highly recommend this and hope to come back again. Thanks so much Barbara for all your help.

Cozy eclectic feel to this historic house. Every nook and cranny we found something else to gawk at and talk about. Spent our late nights in playing games and enjoying this fun and funky little home. Perfect location to downtown. We parked our car for 2 days and walked the town. We had fantastic meals at Blackboard, Brooks, The fainting Goat, and Muchachos Tacos. Great brews at Wallace Brewing Co and fun local shops including Johnson Gems and the Funky Monkey. Had a blast and will definitely be returning.

My family and I had a wonderful time staying at the Church House and the adorable town of Wallace, ID. The house was clean and met all of our needs. We received a discount at one of the local pubs and all the people we spoke to were very friendly. It was super close to Lookout pass where we went skiing as well. We truly hope to stay there again!

We had two nights in the Church House. The location was great for walking to most all the shops and restaurants in Wallace. The place is so very unique and a work in progress, I look forward to seeing the changes.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Church House in Wallace Idaho. The owners did an amazing job of making this old church into a unique, comfortable and interesting place to stay. There is even a portrait of Jesus made out of chewing gum! We’ll stay longer next time.

Love the authenticity of the space. Very funky and charming. A bit rustic for our taste, but we were in Wallace ID :-) If it had a second bathroom we would book again and again.

The place is unique in itself but the minute you walk in you feel at home and relaxed. For both me and my friend it checked all the boxes. We needed a break from our demanding lives and got it! Would definitely want a return visit.

We enjoyed staying in this historic old building, just a short walk from downtown shops and restaurants. The beds were comfortable and the kids enjoyed playing with the foosball table and the toys & games. Being near the highway and right on the main street into town, it was a little bit noisy from traffic. There were no smoke detector alarms installed, so that was a bit concerning. But overall it was a fun and comfortable visit!

We stayed here in 2021 and liked it so much that we came back again this year. It was even better since they added air conditioning. Came in handy on a 99 degree day!
This is a wonderful place to stay. The decor is fascinating, our dogs enjoyed the courtyard because they could look out of the gate.
I grew up in Wallace and staying across the street from the library I went to years ago is kind of special.
One of the best vacation rentals I’ve ever stayed at. We will be back!

Had a wonderful stay at the Church House with my family. This was the most unique VRBO home we've stayed in thus far. Completely worth the stay simply for its uniqueness and the town was an added gem we weren't expecting. Truly a cute town that is the "center of the universe". The home was clean, inviting, and provided some lasting memories. Thank you for the stay!
