About this house rental
The Homestead main house, originally built in the 1880's and just one block off Main St., is a part of a stunning luxury estate which has undergone a recent total renovation. Located in the Historic District, The Homestead estate consists of two private homes (The Main House and The Carriage House) two cottage suites (The Stables # and #2) and is ideal for couples, groups, families, or friends to enjoy all of downtown Fredericksburg.

The Main House is private and has four bedrooms (two kings, one queen and two twins), three spa-inspired marble and granite baths, a large kitchen-dining room-living room, and two outdoor gathering spaces, including one with a fire pit. The 12-foot ceilings create an expansive feel to the home, but the highlight of this historic home has to be the private, underground, fully stocked wine cellar! The large driveway provides for four off-street parking spaces.
This historic and renovated 1880's home with the prime location simply cannot be beat. Being within one block off Main St. means Shops, Wineries, and restaurants area all just a few minutes walk out the front door!

This home was even better than expected and worked well for our group. The convenience to Main St was appreciated when grabbing a quick bite or wanting to run home for something. Very charming, comfortable home!

The house is charming with lots of natural light throughout the day, original (probably) wood floors, high ceilings, and a unique (and kind of cool) stone interior hallway. Plenty of space in the kitchen, at the large dining table, and in the well appointed living room. The bedrooms are all nice, and the bathrooms are sleek and decently sized. The location is great because it's 1 street back from Main St. and at the northwest end, so you get a nice mix of quiet and convenience.
Of the 4 bedrooms, only the front bedroom has an en suite bathroom, and the front bedroom is also the room with the highest amount of street noise compared to the other bedrooms. So when a Texan who felt the need to get a truck that sits 12 feet off the ground and sounds like a combination of a jet engine and a combine rolls by, that's the bedroom where you'll definitely hear it. However, it wasn't really an issue because of the large floor fan provided in the room. But light sleepers may want to avoid that room.
Also pro tip, the house is 1 block from Caliche, which has easily the best caffeinated beverages in town, the best music, tasty breakfast dishes that come out QUICK, and a very friendly staff.
We're picky and we would definitely book this house again. Cheers.

We enjoyed staying here; it was within walking distance to main street and the house was beautiful. I could not give the house 5 stars; we ran into a few challenges during our stay. However, I will say the property management was quick to respond. The touch screen installed made it easy to communicate with them.
Reading the reviews before we checked in, we saw that they were short on utensils so we reached out to ensure they had restocked since we would be preparing meals there, and we were assured they had. When we arrived, we found that was not the case. We contacted property management, and they had some there within the hour. We found that the kitchen was stocked for preparing simple meals, but not for a nice meal for six people. We also had to request dish towels so we could dry the dishes. It took the icemaker two full days to consistently make ice (even though only one person was using it). Another challenge we experienced was temperature control; at night the system would reset to 77 degrees. We would reprogram it; however, it would always revert back to original programming. Even with the windows open we could not get the two end bedrooms to a comfortable temperature; in the third bedroom, we had to borrow the two comforters from the fourth bedroom to stay warm. There were two portable fans provided, but one did not work. One of the chairs around the fire pit was broken across the lower front portion of the seat, and there was only one piece of firewood provided.

Would stay again
beautiful, clean, close to everything. no flexibility in checking in 1/2 hour early, but otherwise absolutely perfect.

Great location. Easy walk to main street.

Very comfortable bedding, kitchen was well-stocked (except for only 5 dinner forks), happy to have extra trash bags and dishwasher detergent provided, nice big rooms and great places to gather; We had awesome weather so could even take advantage of outdoor patio table & chairs (but not the fire pit), a basketful of throws had weather been colder. Bedrooms with storage & hangers. Be advised that because of the great location, early morning traffic sounds are unavoidable. Some suggestions from our group: kitchen towels, serving spoons, toaster, reference on website that coffee maker is not Keurig, showers are slick so floor strips/grab bar?, washcloths, clearer instruction on thermostat operation. Don't know what to call it but there is an electronic screen in the dining area with info, etc. Very highly recommend and hope to stay here again someday.

It's difficult to find a VRBO in Fredericksburg that as more than 2 full bathrooms but it is extremely valuable when you are sharing a vacation place with others. This home has 3 full beautiful bathrooms plus 4 bedrooms. We each had our own bedroom and only 2 of us had to share the 3rd Full Bathroom. Perfection!

Fabulous unique home super close to Main St.
Loved our stay in this beautiful home! Perfect for 8 people, just 2 blocks to bars, restaurants, and shops. Everyone's fave feature was the incredible wine cellar - perfect place to gather and chat. Definitely recommend!

The Homestead was AWESOME!
There were six of us ladies . . . friends for over 30 years. The Homestead was a perfect home for us - enough beds and baths,
plus rooms to gather . . . or be alone! Everything was fresh and new! Great location - easy to get in & out of town. Highly recommended.

The Homestead is a beautiful home! It suited our needs with four bedrooms and several gathering areas. The wine cellar was such a treat! It’s location is, roughly, a fifteen minute walk to the “happening” part of Main St. We absolutely loved staying here!

This house was perfect for our mini cousin reunion. The layout was perfect and the wine cellar was the cherry on top. We will be staying here again and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for plenty of room and bathrooms.

Beautiful home, great location
Our family of 6 stayed here. It was the perfect size and had great amenities for us. It was a little bit of a walk to get to the main part of Main Street for our little ones, but it was still pretty easy and kind of nice to work off all the great food in Fredricksburg! We would stay here again for sure.

We had a mother/daughter weekend! It was perfect. The house is nice and clean and walkable to downtown shops! The street noise was a little loud so if you are a light sleeper, bring a fan or noise machine to help drown that out. We will definitely book here again! Loved our stay

Best Friends Weekend
This is a very unique house and was perfect for our group. We are a group of 7 women who have been friends for 35 years, and we try to go somewhere once a year. This house was a great find! All of the bedrooms are good sized with places to put luggage out of the way. The beds are comfortable. The bathrooms are bright with pretty fixtures, but the master shower head was a little small with low pressure. The kitchen has everything that you need to cook a meal. We used the small table and coffee bar to put groceries and to make a bar which left all the countertops open in the kitchen to prep and cook. The table was big enough for everyone and was great for dinner and games.
We didn’t hang out in the wine cellar - it has a bit of a musty smell. But it’s a cool, unique space. The porches are awesome and we sat outside each morning with coffee after a walk downtown. The location was great for us. It’s not in the heart of downtown but a nice 10 - 15 minute walk to get to the other end of Main Street (think Fredericksburg Brewery and Pasta Bella). So it was quiet and in a great spot.
The only negatives- we had a hard time getting in because the code didn’t work, but that was also a positive because it was fixed quickly. We were also disappointed that we didn’t know there was a fire pit outside because we would have brought wood and sat outside in the perfect weather.
We enjoyed the house so much that some of the women may rent it for their families this year. We will be back!
