To say that I was disappointed with the stay in Sonoma is an understatement. I had booked this trip for a work retreat/conference and was looking forward to spoiling my office. For three nights, our stay cost over $4800. We were all excited as the stay advertises a thoroughly cleaned residence, bocce ball, hot tub, and other amenities.
Communication with Vacasa prior to the stay was great - signing of a rental agreement, information regarding check in, etc. Once we arrived at the premises, we were UNABLE TO GET INTO THE RESIDENCE. The code which was provided did not work and we continuously called the number provided. It appears that the main telephone number goes to a call center, as they had no idea what my issue was - the code was not working on the door. Considering they had not seen it, they were unable to assist. After almost an hour of waiting outside and walking around the property, I found a spare key attached to a water line. We were able to get in.
At first glance, the residence is quite nice. When we arrived, we noticed that some dirt and crumbs on the floor but brushed it off as no big deal. We went outside and could not find any of the bocce ball advertised (except for the dirt area) and there was a basketball court with no basketball. Additionally, we learned there is a sound monitor to make sure you do not throw a party. We weren't planning to do so, but the sheer thought of someone listening to you is eerie.
As we brought in our suitcases, we all began to smell a hint of something -CAT PEE. The smell of cat pee was palpable that we ended up running to Target to buy a candle. The problem with cat pee is that means there was a cat. Despite being advertised as a pet free stay, THIS WAS NOT A PET FREE STAY. I happen to be severely allergic to cats and within minutes, my throat started closing in and I could not breathe. I could not sleep and we kept all of the windows opened and fans going. There was cat hair on the beds, sofas, etc.
