We enjoyed our stay

My husband and I greatly enjoyed our stay at Henry and Petra’s property. The house has an amazing waterfront view that will give you the most memorable sunsets, along with great wildlife sightings as well. Also, It is far enough away from the stress of the city that you can relax. The hosts were wonderful as well. During my stay Henry kept in touch to make sure everything was going great and to alert me of any storms or answer any questions I had. If I were to come back to Louisiana, I would definitely stay here again.

Location is awesome loved it

Great hosts! Nice, secluded spot, with cold a/c, steamy hot tub, and a chef’s kitchen! We spent time reading, playing games (on the grand table!), watching wildlife and unforgettable sunrises/sunsets. Quick ride to NOLA or Slidell. If we ever find ourselves traveling back to the area, we’ll definitely look to stay here again!

We had a fabulous time at this camp! It was close enough to the city but we could retreat to a quiet camp for the evenings. We loved it!

This home is far enough and close enough to French quarter to make it a great location for our family get away. Dont let the exterior Home scare you the interior is beautiful and rustic. Definitely bring bug repellent because the mosquitoes are aggressive (😬) Host responded quickly to all of our questions and needs.

This is a great location. Close enough to downtown and
far enough away from downtown. You can fish from the top
floor and crab from the lower floor. Watch your float while youre in the Hot tub. This is the place I'll come back to.

Charming house over the lake with everything you need to relax and spend super fun family time with kids - kayaks, crab boxes, hot tub, games. Close enough from New Orleans to go for visits as well. We really enjoyed our stay, we how we can come again soon. The owner was very helpful and responsive with any questions . Highly recommend the place !

The house was much larger than I thought it would be. There were several large cob-webs on the ceiling but overall the house was very clean.
We had beautiful sunset views from the very large deck on the back of the house.
Would gladly stay again and recommend.
Thank you!

The hosts are very responsive and really caring. They even showed us how to do crabbing the right way. The property is worth staying at because the home is beautifully rustic, views are outstanding and the beds are very comfortable. Highly recommend this VRBO.

Nice home about 25min outside of downtown. It is a little drive but that’s what we wanted. Well maintained property and very easy to get along with and helpful owners.

It was a great stay for us visiting New Orleans. The location was an easy drive to the French Quarter, Bourbon Street, etc. It is definitely off the beaten path, so stock up all your supplies beforehand. Old fish camp feel with modern twist! If you fish, bring a boat! The docks were awesome to fish and crab from. Would definitely visit again at a cooler time. Abundant wildlife! 15 foot gator hanging out a round dock. Dont swim!!! Eat fish!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed the upper and lower decks and the fishing! The interior of the house was even roomier than we expected and equipped with all the necessary supplies. We had a couple of issues with the A/C but Henry was easy to contact and prompt to have someone out to fix it.

Out of five stars I would give this rental a 10! The owners were so great to work with and very accommodating! The house was beautiful! It was so peaceful and quiet not being right in the city. Sitting on the deck and getting to see gators swim by was amazing! I would highly recommend renting from Henry and Petra!

Beautiful, spacious and comfortable home. There were 7 of adults staying here for a long overdue family vacation. There are lots of amenities; we appreciated and enjoyed all of them. It was so fun to make breakfast as a family, go fishing, crabbing, paddleboarding and jacuzzi each day. There was a booklet about the wild life preserve and we made a scavenger hunt of all of the species that inhabit the area. It was really great having the best of both worlds – meaning staying in a quiet natural place and also going into the city and enjoying bourbon street events. Luckily we had 2 cars as it was it a little tricky getting an uber to come out and get us. The hosts were great to work with and check in/check out was easy. We would stay here again.

This was our first time visiting New Orleans. We were hoping to experience some of the city attractions as well as safely enjoy the natural surroundings. This location was perfect in allowing us to meet both objectives. I was able to enjoy sunrise while observing the wildlife preserve from a safe distance on the deck. Using binoculars allowed us to see lots of birds and other wildlife, all from the very safe distance of the top deck. The owner baited multiple crab traps prior to our arrival, and we were fortunate enough to capture more than we could eat!
We planned multiple city excursions, allowing us to do some tours of the city as well as enjoy the multiple musical experiences always available in the city. In addition to being able to enjoy nature from our own deck, there were several local nature hiking areas, with raised platforms so that we could hike out into the wetlands of the bayou whilst staying perfectly dry.
Our stay was quite enjoyable, and we definitely recommend staying on this property. If you follow the advice of the owner and previous guests regarding grocery shopping prior to your arrival, you are guaranteed a lovely visit. We are so grateful for this peaceful oasis!

My family had a wonderful time here. We spent most of our time at the property. We went to a couple Cajun restaurants and ventured downtown New Orleans, once. But the property literally had everything you needed to just get away from the hustle and bustle of the world for awhile. My favorite things were the scenic views, the beautiful deck and the master bedroom was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever experienced on a vacation. The things to keep in mind, there are alligators and even bull sharks that come through the area and being so far out, you do have well water. There’s tons of mosquitoes so bring plenty of bug spray but the hosts think of everything! One of the best stocked Vrbo’s I’ve used. They are super accessible and accommodating. Would definitely recommend checking this place out.

This property is beautiful! I wish our trip was longer so that we could have appreciated all that was offered at this vacation home. The views are spectacular! The inside of the house was very spacious and welcoming. It was a quiet stay away from the city but still close enough to enjoy the hustle and bustle. I hope to stay here again!

We are outdoor people and this was a great location to get a blend of some outdoor time and be a reasonable distance form the city for urban jaunts. We loved being able to relax after a day of activity in the hot tub. Great kayaking if you're not to afraid of the occasional passerby gator.

Good big house for two families with three kids. Loved the big kitchen and living area. We had three little kids in the bunk bed room right off the living room, so we couldn’t really watch tv after they went to bed but we spent evenings in the hot tub instead. Not a bad compromise! The space really worked for two families. Location was a little far from downtown but not a problem. We had a really great stay.

Perfection spot to hang out and fish after a day in the city. Inside and outside had lots of room to stretch out and relax. Mainly sat on porch and fished while after doing tourist stuff like WW2 museum, French quarter, airboat, etc. there are marinas that have live shrimp close by for bait. Not too far is Kennys seafood where we got some royal reds and live lobster cooked and ate on patio. Also has a gated entry from driveway so very secure. Had a great time.

Excellent property with a very attentive host! Couldn’t have asked for anything better for a quick little retreat. If you’re a fisher, bring your pole and bait because the fish literally jump out of the water at night!

Really nice, private, safe property. We enjoyed our stay. Close to New Orleans and also to the beaches in Mississippi. The owners were responsive and we'd stay again. Fully equipped. Liked the waterfront deck, very relaxing.

We had a great time- loved seeing the gators in the water! Did some fishing off the dock and caught sting rays and catfish! Beautiful sunsets over the bayou!

We stayed at this lovely home for Mardi Gras weekend. We loved how we could easily go into the city and get back for the beautiful sunset and peaceful skies! The home is so spacious and beautiful! Communication was fantastic and the house had everything we needed for a great stay. Thank you Henry and Petra!

Property is what we were looking for. We wanted to stay out of the craziness of the city yet be close enough to drive in. It is about a 25 to 30 minute drive to most of the tourist attractions. Slidell is about 20 minute drive the other way, would highly recommend Honey Island Swamp Tour!
Kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. House was clean upon check-in. Bed in master was really comfy!
Very secluded, right on the water with a handful of other fish camps. We enjoyed sitting on the deck, watching the birds and searching the canal for wildlife. Crab traps and fishing rods were readily available for use. Owner was easily reached and responded quickly to a question.

My fiancé and I invited our friends from Montana to come with us to New Orleans for the first time and we chose this wonderful place as our vacation getaway. As soon as we walked in the house, we were blown away by how spacious and beautiful it was. Pictures just do not do it justice. When we had some issues with the TV, the owner came our immediately and fixed it for us. He was really easy to get ahold of and he was fun to talk to. When we visited the french quarter it was so stressful we said we would never go back. So instead of touring new orleans the way we originally planned, we went crabbing and fishing every day and even had an authentic southern boil with the crab we caught. We had a wonderful time here and made so many memories. One thing I will add is the water smelled funny, but it's just because of the well water. So, if you're not used to it (like our Montana friends) it can be a bit much at first, but overall it was a fantastic vacation and it didn't take away from the experience. Thanks again for everything you did for us. We had a blast!

We had a wonderful family Christmas. Place was welcoming and kitchen had everything we needed for family meals. My grown children especially liked hot tub. I enjoyed lounging on couch in front of fire. Would stay again.

I can’t say enough how wonderful our weekend at this property was. This gem of a vacation home is located in the perfect location for a quiet secluded getaway…..but close enough to venture out to the city if desired. While the men in my family enjoyed a little fishing off the deck and the hot tub, I absolutely adored the house. Beautifully decorated, kitchen fully stocked and a warm inviting homey vibe throughout. We took full advantage of the assortment of puzzles and games. Previous reviews were right – the sunrises should not be missed. The owners are so nice, very responsive & welcoming. Would we book this again? Absolutely!!!

My husband and I stayed here for a week for vacation. The location was breathtaking and we got to see some of the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises! Property owners were awesome! We even got to catch some blue crab, catfish and saw an alligator! Definitely worth the money if you want a vacation to remember forever! ❤️

The owners Henry and Petra were very forthright with information regarding the stay from the moment that we booked. I had made a mistake and had underbooked the stay (we notified them that it was my wife and I but I thought I had selected four because my cousin and her husband stayed as well but I had not and did not realize this until I received the reminder for the upcoming stay). The owners were very understanding and gave us no issues with regards to that. The property was very confortable and clean with ample room for us. It can be easy to miss since the turn off is by a 55mph road but they give you all of the information you need to find it. Very scenic area. We would stay here again.
