Great little bungalow convenient to everything in Birmingham with easy parking and super simple access.

If you have to be near UAB in Birmingham Alabama… this is the house to choose. Everything is there to make for an easy stay. If you are making a trip for the Botanical Gardens or Zoo… this is a great place to stay as well! Should I ever need to return to Birmingham, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

The trip itself was great but we had a few hiccups. Let me start by saying I contacted Britt before booking and asked if we could bring our large dog with us (he is over the 50 lb weight limit). She immediately responded yes, which was a big weight off my shoulders. So a great start. I then sent 3 more questions to ask if they had a Pack n Play and never heard back. We also never got check-in instructions. I messaged and called about that too, but did not hear back. My husband was able to locate her husband’s phone number and called him. He apologized and told us that the VRBO app had been having issues so that’s why we hadn’t gotten the instructions, then texted them. He also said he wasn’t sure on the Pack N Play but that he would get back to us—though we should go ahead and plan to bring one. We did—because we never heard back from him. (Of course we found one in the closet once we were there). I would have brushed all that aside as no big deal. People are busy and apps mess up. But when we got to the house, it was VERY unclean and clearly not kept up well. The dishes had not been cleared out of the dishwasher. There were old sheets in the dryer that hadn’t been dried enough so we’re starting to stink. The backyard was totally overgrown. The bed frame of one bed was zip tied together. The bathroom shower liner was orange and the rod rusted. I did not feel comfortable letting my kids bathe there. And there were open containers of products left behind from others all over.

The location is great. Friendly neighbors everyone would wave or say hi. We stayed with our 2.5year old and they had a basket full of toys and TV with accounts set up for kids. My family enjoyed the house and the fact that it's close to a park and the city made it convenient.
I stayed here because I needed to be near USB hospital and it was a 8-10 minute drive.

Well appointed cottage a couple of blocks off a busy street with easy access to the hospitals, downtown & clubs. Home is nicely decorated with a welcoming swing on the front porch. The neighborhood is peaceful and safe & fantastic for walking with a park 2 blocks away. Options for breakfast, lunch and dinner are also close by. The General is a quaint coffee shop with good breakfasts and a lovely gift shop. Communication with the owner was easy and swift. Washcloths and bath/shower soap were in short supply but the onsite washer & dryer accommodated that. We’ll be back!

Just as described this was a charming bungalow home in a nice Avondale neighborhood. We were in town for a quick night stay to catch a show at the Avondale Brewery and it was an easy 14 minute walk to get there. The amenities were fine, water was hot, owners provided free streaming services on the tv and the bed was comfortable. We would def rent again when we come back to BHam!!

We needed a quiet, comfortable house while our son recovered from knee surgery in Birmingham. The house was perfect. In a very nice, safe neighborhood. Due to weather, we needed to extend our stay. The owners were so easy to work and communicate with to make this happen. If you looking for a “home” for a short stay or even an extended stay I would highly recommend it!!

Had to be in town for a few days for work with the family. We enjoyed our stay and the location was great. The only thing we were a little disappointed in was the house was not as clean as we are accustomed to with VRBO, a lot of dirt and dust on the floors and some surfaces. Other than that, great stay!

Was a pleasant spot, old house but had the new amenities which was a nice change, if the twin beds in the room were at least full beds it would have been perfect stay, would stay again.

We love staying at Britt's houses. Her houses are so homey and comfortable. The house is clean and the bed is comfortable. Lots of items in the kitchen if you need to cook. We love the neighborhood, too! Britt's houses are our go to rentals when we are in Birmingham!

The house is very nice. The neighborhood is great. The location is spectacular, you can walk to restaurants, breweries, music. It is a short drive to Barber Motorsports Park, we went there for motorcycle races. Downtown isn't far. The house itself is very nice, everything was clean, it has TV (Apple Tv). Overall great place.

We stayed the weekend for our son's University of Alabama graduation and found our stay to be convenient to Tuscaloosa and airport plus more reasonable than staying in Tuscaloosa for graduation. House was perfect for a couple and we even had the extra bedroom for larger families. I would recommend this house to others for trips to Alabama.

Great property. Old house with charm. Slept well. Quiet neighborhood. Beautiful homes everywhere. Great access to Avondale restaurants. Enjoyed the porch swing in the front and the privacy of the backyard. Had trouble with the appletv but enjoyed reading instead. Bathroom could use a vent fan, but an all around solid house. Would stay again.

We had SUCH a great stay. Super close to everywhere we needed to go in Birmingham. The house was so cute & clean. We had 3 people (1 had to drop out), but there was plenty of room either way! 10/10 would stay again!

We were exploring different areas of Birmingham for our sons relocation. This was a wonderful neighborhood. Great proximity to the downtown area and a quiet retreat to unwind after a busy day. Easy check in and no issues for us to even contact the owner.

Lovely cottage in quiet, walkable neighborhood
This is a really sweet little cottage in a nice area. The “happening” restaurant and bar scene is within close driving distance, just a few minutes away.
That said , this is an older home that needs some TLC beyond what the cleaning person can provide, as well as a new washer and dryer.
The owners were amazingly fast answering our questions upon arrival and I would absolutely stay here again, especially if someone has a chance to go in and give the house a little love and elbow grease.

Updated, but several issues
It’s a cute little historic place, but was definitely lacking in several areas. Never figured out how to get the water in the kitchen to run. Had to call to figure out to get dryer to work. Was told someone broke the knobs previously. Bathroom door wouldn’t close and lock. Chain was broken and had to be reattached in commode. Shower water backed up quickly. Floors are super slanted - could even feel it in the beds in the spare.

Nice quaint old house. Nicely decorated. Bit of musty smell as to be expected, but tolerable. Very quiet. Only complaint is beds not comfortable and cleaning service could have been more thorough

Windows do not open, musty smell, rodents and very cheap mattresses
Very disappointed. We only stayed one night but it was really hard on us. The house smells musty...because NONE of the windows open! They are all painted shut. The mattresses are from Linenspa, a very poorly made off brand mattress found on Amazon.
The King size mattresses for example, was listed at 280 and the twin mattresses that killed my sons' backs at 120!
It would be very difficult to find cheaper mattresses.
Also the clocks we're both set at 25 minutes too early! So much neglect.
I also heard a rodent running around
and realized there was a black plastic rodent poison bait box in the dining area. Terrible to look at while eating.
For the money they charge, and the fact it's usually booked up...meaning they make a good amount of money, we were appalled they wouldn't spend just a couple hundred dollars more for mattresses that actually support the human body. The fact they are the cheapest possible mattresses really felt insulting to us. They make enough money to do much better and pay to have the windows work and actually open...or at least some of them!
We regret this stay so much.
Not a good fit for those who like to breathe fresh air or sleep on a decent mattress.

Warm, friendly, and super cute stay!
I loved my stay here! We stopped overnight on a girls trip and I fell in love with this house. Such a cute Craftsman house with lively decor sprinkled throughout. It has the fun quirks that come with a house that age. I loved the back yard and the screened in porch too. I want to come back when I can stay longer ❤️
