This was our 2nd time staying at one of the Rio Escondido houses and once again, we had a wonderful time! Absolutely loved the house and private entry into the Nueces River. Special thanks to Nathan for promptly fixing the WiFi connection and making sure we were ok when we briefly lost power from a storm. THANKS Nathan and Rio Escondido!

Great river spot. We loved it!
Only thing is neighbors are super close. We did not had any issues but if you are going make late night loud parties, it may cause issues.
Overall great experience. Nathan was very helpful.

The house was clean the AC worked, Nathan was super helpful. It was nice to have a watering hole in the backyard. Little necessities that we forgot to buy before coming, we were able to buy them at the Family Dollar right at the road, we will definitely book again

Cabins were clean and comfortably rustic. The amazing well-kept grounds provided decks for early morning coffee, nice areas for grilling, and easy access to the river. Nathan went above and beyond to take care of us. We will be back.

The house was clean and the property was great! The river access was amazing and perfectly semi-private. Made friends with the neighbors! The property manager was very nice and stopped by a few times to check to see if we needed anything and to take out trash. Will definitely recommend to friends and will satay in the future!

We came with our family and friends and no one had a complaint. The dragonfly is where we stayed and it was perfect (I saw other reviews complaining the house was to hot but it wasnt, it stayed cool the entire time). I understand all the compliments in other reviews about Nathan the property manager, he treated us like we knew him and he was so sweet and helpful checking in daily. I was fishing and caught a cat fish and the house keepers were on the deck of the tree house cheering me on LOL they even came down to the water and chatted with us one day when they were cleaning next door. We had friends rent one of the cabins up the hill on the same property and we all cooked out together daily and used the dragon fly river access. The water was beautiful and clear with so many fish. Our cabin had all the pots and pans we needed for every meal, we started a fire in the pit nightly and never ran out of cut wood, there was plenty of towels blankets ect. All you need is food and family at this location. Our hope is to bring enough family and friends next year to rent out the whole place or at least half of it.

We really enjoyed the stay. The place was very well maintained and had no issues. It was nice being so close to the river and having easy access to it. Plenty of shade from all the trees as well. We loved it and are definitely coming back! Owner communicated with us to ensure we had what we needed to check-in. Nathan was great as well.

Very cool place to stay! River is only a few steps away, with easy access. House has everything you need inside with what i though were comfortable mattresses and for it being 100 plus degrees outside the window units did a good job at keeping it cool inside when it was time for a break from the heat and river. Outside it had plenty of room for kids to play and run around, firepit and BBQ pit are in good shape, house also has plenty of lighting outside if needed. Already planning our next trip here.

Enjoyed our stay even with the low water levels. Could use bigger ac units in the house but other then that is was great

Great overall experience! We rented the house for a family vacation and it was perfect for our number. The house is roomy and the outdoor area adds extra space. I would say there were three opportunities: the house needs a deep cleaning. The ceiling fan in the living room has about an inch of dust on it and my 1-year-old niece found popcorn on the ground the first day and put it in her mouth (we didn't have popcorn). Please get some curtains for the windows. The cheap blinds do nothing, and it's so bright in the house at night, that it's hard to fall asleep. The sun shines right into the house in the morning and you're up by 7am because it's so bright in the house. Lastly, the 2 window units for AC are not enough for the house. It's 100 degrees this summer, and it is so hot at night it's uncomfortable to sleep! We brought 2 box fans with us, thank goodness, but it still was HOT. We did have a great stay and would return, these are just a few opportunities we had while there. Nathan, the property manager, is absolutely amazing and took great care of us!

Nueces River hidden gem

Great spot on the Nueces
Grounds are awesome, with lots of outdoor space to enjoy. Easy direct access to the River just behind the house, with option to be in shallow area, or swim in deeper area. Even with low flow, this spot held water quite well, and apart from a few stagnant spots, seemed pretty good. A little more attention could be paid to the cleanliness of bathroom/shower, but overall the place was clean and comfortable. Would stay again.

Relaxing
Our adult kids enjoyed the river which was great, we went there to float the Frio and we did drive to Concan to do that on Friday but they said the river was only running 40 to 50% so we were gonna have to walk half the float so we went to Gardner which the day pass was all booked so we renting a camping spot so we could float the river… and it was ok but we all agreed we were just gonna go back to your house and play in that river the rest of the time and that is what we did they all enjoyed it… my husband and I have never been to the frio so we were relying on our kids to show us where we needed to go since all three of them have been several times lol well that did not go so well oh well… your place was great and they were content just staying there…

The best of Texas
We booked the Dragonfly for our family trip. It was our first time on the Nueces, though we are native Texans, and fell in love with the views and crystal clear waters. The pictures don’t do this place justice. Nathan was very kind and hospitable.

Great place for a getaway!
We stayed with another family so there were 8 total and we had such a great time. The house along with the small guest house gave everyone lots of space. The house was well stocked with dishes, cooking utensils, and cookware. It was comfortable and relaxing and the location on the river is perfect. Be aware that there are 2 other houses on the property, one that is right next door to the Dragonfly house, so you may be sharing the river with other people if both houses are booked at the same time. But really, who cares! We met our neighbors and they were all very nice and considerate and sharing isn't a bad thing. It sure beats being on the Frio where the sharing is with a whole lot more people. Overall, the trip was excellent. I would highly recommend staying here!

My family and I had the best time on this property. They thought of everything! The river was great for our little ones, the property provided river towels, bath towels, extra sheets, an abundance of chairs and a variety of kitchen utensils.. they made our stay easy! We will definitely be returning

Location Location Location.
This place is paradise! The abundance of wildlife was amazing to see. The location of the Nueces River in proximity to the house was the best! Will deff think about staying here again. Only downside was there was no AC upstairs and the teens were very hot so they ended up sleeping on the floor in the livingroom. Other than that one single issue....the house and property was perfect.

Heaven on the Nueces
My 24 yr old daughter and new husband, who live in N. Carolina, came back to visit us in Houston after several years. Her husband had never been to Texas and I didn’t want him to leave thinking Houston was representative of ‘Texas’, so I rented this cabin on the Nueces to expose him to some Hill Country beauty. I’ve been coming to this part of the Nueces for many years - my favorite rental location in the ‘Frio River Area’. The cabin and amenities are flawless and provide all amenities anyone could ask for. Nathan, the (almost) on-site property manager is always inviting and truly seeks to be helpful in any manor possible. Awesome place to stay for those who want easy access to Frio River activities, but prefer something more private and serene than the crowds in the Leaky/Concan corridor.
Highly recommended.

Family Vacation
This property was great for all ages. Easy access to the river but there is a few stairs. There is a lot of trees for shade and a large area for outside games and kids to play. We enjoyed the fire pit and the property owners left us everything to make smores. We would definitely stay here again!
