This is such a gorgeous, quiet spot to soak in serenity! We had the perfect stay and thank the hosts for a beautiful experience.

We have stayed here before and like the house. The bathrooms and kitchen could use some updating, but it is a great place to spend time with friends and family. Laurie is a great host and great at communicating. She always makes herself available to answer questions.

The house was excellent and the beach was private and beautiful. We had one minor issue with the AC but Laurie was very quick to help us fix it. I would recommend this house and location to anyone looking for a beach getaway!

Stayed for a week with my husband, newborn, and parents. The home is nice but clearly has seen wear as a rental property. Some things broken (screen door off the main bedroom, one of the shower doors) and coffee grounds left in the coffee machine. It seemed like a rushed cleaning job in between rentals. I also wouldn’t stay in a place that required linens again. One somewhat unexpected thing is that despite having 5 bedrooms and a lofted space, there is nothing that functions as a desk in the entire home. The only desk-height-level furniture is the main kitchen table, so I would not recommend if anyone in your party is planning to work remotely. Lastly a note on the area, not the property, the mosquitoes at night are vicious and there are biting flies on the beach, so it can be unpleasant outside at any time of day if there is not enough wind.

This was our second stay at Laurie’s wonderful house in Broadkill. We love the open layout of the home and how well stocked everything is. We had two families and a pup with us and there was plenty of room to move around and hang out. The dock on the back of the house was great for crabbing but the sunset views are second to none. We also love how close the beach access is from the home. We spent the entire week crabbing and fishing from the dock, and surf fishing from the beach. There was only one other family on the beach with us during the week so it was otherwise complete calm, quiet and secluded. It definitely beats being around all of the crowds on other Delaware beaches! We got lucky because the green head flies weren’t too bad this week, but beware, because they can get bad if the winds shift off of the sound side. The mosquitoes, however, were awful this week but we came prepared with an enforced arsenal of bug repellents, lotions and anti-itch cream. That comes from experience.
Laurie is an excellent host and is incredibly responsive to messages. She makes every effort to ensure that needs are met and that her guests are comfortable. We appreciate her wonderful service and beach home and highly recommend!

My husband and I and our two grown children and their spouses and two grandsons and two dogs had a fabulous time. Our oldest grandson, my husband and son and son-in-law went crabbing, and caught several crabs. Loved that the beach was steps from the rental and everyone loved Broadkill beach. Most days no one was there. Our 11 yr.old Lab loved swimming there too.

Host is very responsive and helpful!

The house is located on Broadkill Beach. It felt like we had a private beach as there was no others near us for most of the week. The house comfortably fit our family of six and was well equipped. The host checked in on us several times. It was a 20-25 minute drive to Lewes or Rehoboth Beach if you wanted go out to eat or do some of the local activities (shopping, boardwalk, mini-golf).

:Kitchen equipment is much better than other places we have stayed: superior pots/pans, sharp knives. (Needs more large mixing/serving bowls.) Mattresses great; pillows not so much (flat and few). No mosquitoes from tidal creek bc water is in motion. Great crabbing/fishing from dock. Note that there is NO HOT TUB. There is a 2-person soaking tub in master.Great quiet, mostly owner neighborhood. Beach difficult during day because of biting flies (leave bloody wounds) and other itch-producing bugs. Early AM and later day are fine. Hardly anyone on beach. Water super warm and calm. Great tidal pools with critters. Lovely decor and furnishings (higher end), lots of games/books. No beach equipment, but some crab traps (we left one.) Good reading lamps in master BR. Flies in house but there is zapper. Tiny ants on sill and counter in kitchen/dining. Amazing birds, multi-colored views over preserve, silence. No restaurants nearby, but lots in Lewes. Grocery about 15 minutes away with liquor and drug stores in same spot. Excellent communication with host who is ready to please.Super place for treasure hunts with kids.Extra large very new laundry machines.

We loved getting to spend the week together at this beautiful home. Many incredible memories made for my family. We caught a couple bushel of crabs from the dock. Hooked a few fish from the beach just a few steps away. Spent a few nights eith my nephew in funland riding rides. The beach was peaceful, with few others to share it with and we couldnt ask for better weather.
The house is so comfortable and homey. From the second you walk through the door it was easy to rest, relax and just enjoy the beautiful setting. The nature preserve in the back yard was enjoyed every morning and evening. Not only did we get to share the great view, but it also led to great conversations that only happen in a place like this. What a great week! Thanks Laurie for your kindness!
Also youre gonna be blown away by the sunsets!

The property was wonderful and the views were amazing!
It was able to accommodate my 6 family members with plenty of space and the kitchen was fully stocked.
We will definitely stay here again next year.

We loved staying here! The sunset from the back patio is legitimately second to none. House is in a great location with access to Broadkill Beach and Prime Hook. Highly recommend!

This is our second stay with 5 adults and 2 children. The house fits our family perfectly with plenty of space to spread out. The kitchen is well stocked and large for several people to be working at the same time. We love the back deck overlooking the canal, gorgeous sunsets and morning coffee. The beach entrance is down a bit further this year but still close and easy to go back and forth with kids. This is no reflection of the house or host but the biting flies were vicious a couple of days, still we persisted and made every day a beach day- just bring insect repellent! Loved our stay 😊

We booked this property for a two week stay. During this time, we had some friends and family stay with us for various periods of time. The house could easily accommodate the 7 or 8 that we had at any given time. We loved the large kitchen and dining area where everyone could get together. Having access to the river/creek behind the house was great because we could catch and eat crabs anytime we wanted! And yes, the sunsets are amazing! If there was anything negative, it was the mosquitoes and flies from the marsh could get bad at times and the smell from the marsh in the evening was bad, depending on which way the wind was blowing. you do kinda get used to that! Also, for older folks (like us) the front steps visually blend together, and you don't always see the edge of the step. We had some missteps there. Also, the shower in the Master B.R. could use some grab bars, especially for those of us with bad knees! If we had any questions, Laurie was easily reachable. All in all...we had a great time.

This was our second stay at this rental, everything was wonderful! The owner is very sweet and helpful. We took our dogs and they had a fun time at the beach :) The only downside is the biting flies…. Def bring bug spray! Overall, the place is comfortable and easily accommodated our group of adults, 2 seniors and 4 kids :) we will most definitely stay here again! Love this place!

The house was as described. clean and plenty of room for our two families. We did cook in most nights and the kitchen was well stocked.
The location was perfect. Loved being so close ( a two minute walk across the street ) to the bay beach. The bay beach was quiet and private.
Rehobeth beach is a 35 minute drive and our family enjoyed having both options.
Laurie, the owner, called to check in on our arrival day and was readily available via text to answer a few questions.
Favorite part was sitting on the back deck in the morning with a cup of coffee and watching the birds. Our families also got lucky catching crabs off the back dock.
A great week and we lucked out with the weather.

Everything was perfect! We loved being directly across from the beach and having the nature preserve in the back. The dock made it super easy for kayaking. The location is perfect for a little seclusion, with a short drive to Lewes, Rehoboth, and Milton. We will definitely be visiting again!

This house is very comfortable, clean, great location, and the owner is extremely easy to work with and interested in making sure you are okay. We received a call just after we arrived checking on us. Beds and furniture are comfortable, kitchen well stocked, Roku TV very nice. No complaints except that our 5 days went too quick. Lewes is an easy quick drive, Rehoboth just down the road a little farther. The rear view from the back deck is great and the beach a short few steps. If you like peace and quiet, Broadkill is the place.

Our family (four adults, one child, two dogs) had a wonderful time over Spring Break at this beautiful home. The location is ideal -- across the road from the Bay (with nice views out the front) and right on the creek and wildlife preserve in the back. We especially enjoyed the dock, rented a kayak and did some fishing. One night - because of the 2 foot difference in tidal surge each day, and the fact that the dock is high, we had to time kayaking around high tide, which was fine.
The house itself is wonderful - nice artwork and decorations throughout but not too much, nice kitchen with all the essentials (but again, not too much). The dining room with a large table was perfect for family time - dinner, games, crafts. (and there is a nice supply of books, games, and puzzles on hand). There was plenty of space for all of us to spread out and have our own space when we wanted.
We didn't really use the upstairs, but it had a nice seating area and bonus bedroom -- we could have had a few more people.
Laurie was wonderful and great about checking in to make sure we had everything we needed.
We've rented about 6+ homes in Broadkill over the years and this may be our favorite. We hope to return!

We stayed in Laurie’s house over Spring Break and included two families with young children. We really loved the location of the property- just across the street from the bay and the beautiful Prime Hook refuge as our backyard! The sunsets were beautiful in the evenings and we were lucky not to have any green flies or mosquitoes since it’s still early in the spring. There were some wasps around the deck and dock area but nothing too crazy. We spent our mornings fishing on the dock, shelling on the beach and enjoying the open floor plan of the home with plenty of space to spread out and move around. After naps, we spent the afternoon hours on the beach which we had allllll to ourselves! That’s one great thing about Broadkill- the beaches aren’t overcrowded. The best part was being able to run to the house in just a few steps for bathroom breaks or to grab anything we needed. The home itself was furnished nicely and the kitchen was stocked pretty well. Laurie checked in with us to see if there was anything we needed and dropped off a few things on the first morning as requested. She also turned on the water for the outdoor shower. It wasn’t in yet, probably because of the time of year and we just happened to REALLY luck out with having perfect beach weather in April! This type of service and care is unheard of! We needed to bring our own linens and towels, so keep that in mind, but all of the beds did have mattress protectors, blankets and pillows. Paper towels and toilet paper were provided as well as some soaps, and there were some trash bags available as well. The recycling bin was totally full but Laurie took care of that for us as well. She was a wonderful host and we would definitely stay again!

Our first time visiting Broadkill beach. The house was lovely, well kept and well stocked. Amazing views of the wildlife refuge and sunsets. The house is spacious and we enjoyed the open kitchen and large table for meals and games. We hope to return in warmer weather and take advantage of all the outdoor spaces.

This Broadkill property is steps from beach access on oneside and your own private dock to launch kayaks on the other side! We stayed for a week with 4 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs. The house was spacious, well maintained, had all of the basic necessities that you need in the kitchen, and views of the marsh area was goregous in the morning and particularly beautiful when the sunset.
I rented linens and had them dropped off at the property; the house already had very nice pillows (you just needed to rent/bring pillow cases).
A very well maintained house! We appreciated the oversized dining table that was open to the kitchen. That also doubled as a central location for epic games of Monopoly!
I rented kayaks for a week from Quest Adventures who dropped off kayaks, paddles and selection of life vests for the whole family. It is a kayakers dream to be able to paddle off from your own deck. The kids thoroughly enjoyed looking for critters off the deck: they say crabs, fish and an eel; not to mention all the birds in the preserve across the way.
Just 2 cautions: 1. there are a lot of tiny cacti in the sandy area by the car park and back deck/dock (I read other reviews before our trip, so I was cautious to let the kids and dogs ran around that area). 2. if you're prone to getting skeeter bites, bring a lot of heavy duty bug spray. The mosquitos were relentless even in the early (cooler) mornings.
Overall, it was a great trip!

This is our 2nd year renting this house for an end of summer retreat before the craziness of the school year - last year we decided before the week was finished that we would definitely come back!
The house is large, clean, and has incredible views. There’s easy public access to the beach and a private dock out back. Like I said last year, just be aware that the nearest grocery stores are an easy 20 minutes away, so planning and preparation are important.
Thanks for another great vacation!

We had such a great week at this house. I’ve rented several houses over the years and this was the first time the owner called to check in with us, which was nice. The house is beautiful. We had a great time fishing off of the dock and surprisingly caught a lot of fish. The house is also close to some fun restaurants, Big Oyster brewery and Crooked Hammock. Also got to see some beautiful sunsets on the back deck. Would definitely recommend this house.

Beach vacation
The house exceeded our expectations, clean, the kitchen as described by another renter is the best appointed one I’ve been in on a vacation. We had 5 adults, 2 children (5 and 2) and a dog and had plenty of room to spread out, be together or have some private time. We loved the outdoor shower! So nice after a sandy day at the beach. We literally spent every day at the beach with one trip to an ocean beach and an evening at Dogfish Brewery. Yes, there are flies at the beach, their presence is dependent on the wind direction but bug spray did the trick. The bay beach is phenomenal for finding all sorts of wildlife in the surf and tidal pools and we saw turtles swimming every day and the kids got to see a diamondback terrapin making its way across the beach from the dunes. We also loved the dock on the preserve for sunsets and fishing. Our only issue was garbage pickup- when we arrived the cans were out but full so it was a bit challenging but the owner was responsive and assisted us with figuring out a solution. We would love to return!

Amazing location
Our family had an amazing vacation for our first time at Broadkill Beach. The nature preserve was a real bonus. The kids and adults all had plenty of things to keep them occupied and many great feasts of fresh seafood prepared in the well appointed kitchen. Thanks for a great week!

Perfect escape in a beautiful house
My wife and I were looking for a peaceful, beach escape close to the DC area and this house delivered! Broadkill Beach is this incredibly quiet area where you're between the calm beach/bay and a serene wildlife refuge full of birds and nature. And this house couldn't be in a better location to enjoy both. Out the front door, you just had to cross the road and you're on the beach. In the back of the house, you have sunsets and nature. Honestly, we would split our days into morning and afternoons on the beach and then evenings on the back porch. With the quiet location, it's about 20-30 minutes to the more developed areas of Delaware beaches where you can get food and shops. For us, we usually did one outing a day to Lewes or Rehoboth and it was easy.
The house itself is so nice. Not only is it really well stocked with things like kitchen supplies, but the furnishings are all very nice and comfortable. We had 5 adults, 1 toddler and 1 dog and we had room to spare. The upstairs loft was perfect for anyone with a kid since they had their own little space. Really well decorated, great little beach library, and amazing views.
Laurie was everything you could ask for in a host. Really clear check-in process, super responsive if we needed to ask something, and reasonable policies and processes.
I can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for a quiet, slow getaway where the focus is spending time on the beach and relaxing in a nice house.
One tip - you need to bring your own linens for beds and towels. It was listed in the check-in info, so we had enough heads-up, but maybe good to know ahead of booking.

Great location and one of the best stocked kitchens I’ve seen in a vacation rental. A second TV would be nice however

Nice house on the beach
Great location. House is right across the street from the path to the beach. Nice access to the channel from the dock in back. Kitchen is well equipped and house is comfortably furnished.
Sent a note when we arrived, one mid-week, and one when we moved out and never got any responses at all from the property manager. This is the first VRBO we have stayed in where we got zero response from the property manager. Also the trash and recycling were overflowing when we got there.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend Broadkill Beach for a quiet beach vacation.

Excellent rental
This home is exactly as listed. It is clean, well laid out, nicely decorated, and is in a great location. We loved that it was right across the street from the beach. It also has gorgeous views off of the back porch overlooking the nature preserve. The sunsets are amazing and it is great for relaxing and bird watching. The owner was also an excellent host. We hope to stay here again in the future.

Lovely spot!
The first night we’re winds gusts or 45mph, we felt like we were on a cruise ship but very safe!
I am not used to bringing our own linens and vacuuming while on vacation…. The house is lovely, plenty of areas for different conversations! The beach and wild life refuge is amazing for all to venture. Great location!
It would be fun to visit again!

We love Broadkill Beach
Excellent location and amenities. 3 queen beds and several smaller ones provided us with lots of flexibility. Dining room table handled the 7 of us comfortably. Hope to return next year.
