Well-designed and comfortable.

Can see the sunset every evening. Bed was comfortable. Could walk to shops and restaurants if needed.
No counter space in bathroom. Could use a measuring cup or two. Had to guess when making pancakes on their skillet. No freezer area in the refrigerator. But all doable for us in the short time.

Great location, the views of the sun setting every day were phenomenal!
Michelle & Derek, who run it, were so helpful with travel suggestions!

Small boutique hotel located directly next to ocean. Room lanai faced water
4.5
The location is great, close to Kailua's center. However we ended up taking the car each time to save 15 min walk. The Honl's beach near by is very convenient but the high surf during our stay made swimming impossible.
The lanai is very pleasant for watching local surfers and offers a beautiful view of the cove in front of hotel.
Beach gear was available
Because of high surf, the noise from the waves crashing was quite intense. The room was close the street and is noisy with locals racing down the Ali'i drive. We had to close all the windows in order to sleep which was stuffy at times without A/C.
The Kona Tiki Hotel is run more like a condo since we had housekeeping only once during our 6 night stay. While there is a kitchenette in the room, the equipment is substandard: no wine glasses but big plastic tumblers. There is not a single towel rack in the bathroom. there is not a chest of drawers or closet to keep your stuff. It is scattered in the room or on coat hangers. Toilet paper is of the single ply type you find in public restrooms. These details while small made our stay feel expensive and did not meet our expectations. I would have preferred a condo with more space/furnishing for about the same price.

Unbeatable location! Loved hearing and watching the ocean all day and night!
A little pricey for very hands-off service.

Right on the water, had a kitchenette, and it is walking distance to downtown Kona.
5.0
The location on the coast with waves crashing on the rocks, the distance from the absolute tourist centre, the simplicity of the facilities

Location, staff were perfect.
I found the bathroom to be exceptionally cramped with minimal room for really anything. I also thought the shower quality (across the board) was less than ideal.

Being right on the ocean is cool, but if you don't have a car, it is too far from the main Kona "downtown". I thought it would be walkable but there are no sidewalks and no street lighting, so you cannot go anywhere without a car.
Heads up, there are only minimal cloth coverings on half the windows, and on the other windows no coverings at all. You will be woken up with the sun at 5am. If this doesn't bother you - great. It was a deal-breaker for me as I had come to Hawaii to be able to relax and sleep in, and I couldn't sleep at all. That was what put me over, but other little things made it less than pleasant like not having a bar of soap, no water bottles, no handle to open a sliding bathroom door from the inside, very small bathroom, no lobby/reception area open when we arrived, poor Wi-Fi, room was uncomfortably hot (I knew there was no AC and didn't think this would be a problem, but it was hot/humid. They do have fans, so if you can sleep with those - great. It was uncomfortable for us).....
View this as a budget accommodation, and nothing more. I am normally very frugal, but even for me, this was too much and I didn't want to be miserable for all 4 nights so I moved to another hotel (Courtyard by Marriott's King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel - HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!) and ate the cost of the remaining 3 nights.
It might be fine for you, just set expectations accordingly. It is a budget accommodation. I would highly recommend Marriott King Kamehameha hotel instead.

Sleeping next to the ocean listening to the sound of the waves crashing
It was quite a walk from centre of Kona but there was a free trolley bus so no problem
5.0
The location was premium and easy to get to several places to eat and close to the beach. The sound of the waves right outside the window is something that was so soothing and breathtaking. The rooms also have a microwave which I loved because I could heat up leftover food. This is something many traditional hotels do not have. Overall, it’s a really unique, beautiful and comfortable place to stay. It really made our trip to Kona memorable!

location, no tv, pool,
Wi-Fi was weak at times, road noise at times

We liked the pool area and it's really nice that you can take beach chairs, body boards and pool noodles with you when you go to a beach. Staff was kind.
The hotel is a bit dated and the shower temperature changes from hot to cold randomly.

Every room has a nice view overlookjng the ocean. Great for watching sunsets.
No TV or AC in the rooms

Location is great! The entire facility was very clean and well cared for. The room was clean and comfortable. The view from our private balcony was awesome! The ocean is right below the balcony.
Karen, the owner, is terrific!
Parking is very tight. I found it much easier to park along the road rather than the small lot on property. The building is very old, so don’t expect luxury. However they have done a great job refurbishing the place. Rooms are clean and very comfortable.

Extremely clean. Good location. Beatiful view from our Lanai. Comfortable bed, room updated throughout. All one needs.
Road noise due to traffic late into night or early morning. Tight or limited parking. Managed but having a/c would be a plus.

Awesome place, watch the waves and the surfers from our porch. Very clean, and walking distance to town. Perfect!!!

Clean, well maintained with absolutely the most amazing view. It was a very simple room - and we’ve been used to condo facilities but we were not disappointed.
Satisfied with every aspect - we often chose to have breakfast and dinner on the lanai because the view was unsurpassed.

The view from this room was fantastic as was the cleanliness and space in the room. It was last minute booking and comms from the team were great. It is a short walk to the centre to the restaurants and bars.
It is very expensive for what it is (although everything in Hawaii is very expensive currently).
