About this house rental
Deluxe Two-story Town House with Lanai Partial Ocean View, Triple Suites and Garage.
We invite you and your loved ones to experience the vacation of a lifetime in our elegant yet comfortable island home. The Big Island of Hawaii is a magical place. You will fall in love with this island paradise as have we.
The Mauna Lani resort on the sunny Kohala Coast was once home to Hawaiian royalty. Our lovely two story townhouse is spacious at 3,170 square feet plus a two-car garage. Its open living space has the relaxed elegance of a four-star hotel. Three large bedroom suites provide plenty of privacy and space for all guests.
Enjoy spectacular sunsets from the lanai.
The living area connects to the lanai with floor-to-ceiling sliding screened doors which create an enchanting continuous indoor/outdoor space. Each of the large bedrooms has an in-suite bathroom and walk-in closet. The upstairs and lanai are wired for music and there is free Wi-Fi.
Inspired by the Mauna Lani resort, we have decorated our home in an elegant, but relaxed pacific island style. We have beautiful wall art depicting local landscapes and themes. The furniture is comfortable and of excellent quality from reputable manufacturers. Sheets, bath towels and other amenities are of the finest quality.
The main floor features a large living and dining area. The living area is furnished with two large sofas, a lounge chair. A large Tommy Bahama wall unit with 60" TV spans the large wall.. Original and limited edition art pieces appoint the grand living area. The hardwood dining table seats six. The living and dining space opens to a large lanai with dining table, BBQ, outdoor kitchen and separate seating area.
The artwork of Shawn Mackey is displayed as well as award winning photographic pieces from CJ Kale, Linda Hurzeler and Don Herzeler.
The indoor kitchen has granite counter tops and high-end appliances. There is a Sub Zero refrigerator/freezer, Bosch dishwasher and a Dacor oven. We have a Keurig coffee machine in addition to a Cuisinart drip coffee maker. The kitchen is fully furnished with a wide variety of utensils for the gourmet in you. We also have a well-stocked pantry with spices and condiments (cleaning protocols limit what can remain between guests).
Sleeping Accommodations:
Main Floor Master - King size bed, spa-like in-suite bathroom with double sink, separate shower and bathtub, private toilet, armoire, dresser, luggage rack.
Lower Level Master - King size bed and spa-like in-suite bath with double sink, separate bath tub and walk-in shower, private toilet, walk-in closet, TV, lanai.
Third Bedroom - (2) queen beds and full in-suite bathroom with shower, single sink, walk-in closet, lanai.
We furnished the large master bedroom suite with a new king sized Tommy Bahama bed, dresser, armoire and night stands. The furniture and art in this room lend to an authentic old Hawaii atmosphere. The master bath has an oversized tub and a separate granite walk-in shower. The bathroom vanity has a granite countertop with dual sinks. There is a toilet room with door in the master bathroom. There is also a dressing area with drawer and shelf space.
On the ground floor are two bedroom suites each with its own bathroom, private lanai and walk-in closet. The first master suite has a king bed, television and an enormous in-suite bathroom. The second downstairs bedroom has two luxurious queen beds, walk-in closet and private bathroom.
The ground floor has a separate laundry area and two-car garage. We store a Polaris GEM e6 (six-seat) electric cart in the garage which is available to rent. The garage is stocked with beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, beach towels, and a cooler for the complete day at the beach. The garage is our main entrance for vendors, services and housekeeping and is considered to be semi-public. The space is monitored by video surveillance via a garage door opener camera.
The complex is located in the Mauna Lani resort area which has everything you could want or need. The famous Francis H Brown I'i championship golf resort has 36 holes. The Resort also has its own private access beach club and restaurant. There are a wide variety of fine eating establishments nearby. The Foodland grocery store is a short 5 min walk from our property.
The Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and the Fairmont Orchid Hotel anchor the resort area. Both hotels have luxury spas just waiting to pamper you. They also boast a full range of dining from casual to four-star restaurants. Play with the sand between your toes while sipping Mai Tai's during a fabulous Hawaiian sunset.
The Villages is one of the most exclusive, hence quietest complexes in the Mauna Lani resort area. With fewer residents the pool/spa and fitness areas do not get crowded. The grounds are lovely with abundant tropical flowers and trees. The Villages is meticulously maintained with an on-site grounds supervisor.
You will be close to the great beaches of the Big Island. Mauna Lani Beach is a peaceful paradise with excellent swimming. The snorkeling is beautiful with abundant fish and turtles. Staying at our unit entitles our guests access to the Beach Club which has cabanas and lounge chairs. Hapuna Beach and Mauna Kea Beach, both fabulously scenic, are also nearby. They are great for just relaxing but also have perfect surf for boogie boarding in the winter months. In the winter months you can watch the whales breaching from the shoreline.
The active volcano on the south shore of the island is not to be missed. Come enjoy everything the Big Island has to offer. You will not want to leave.

My family really enjoyed our stay at this property. The townhouse had all the amenities of home. The community beach access and pool/gym areas were well maintained. We appreciated that the house had lots of towels and chairs to bring to the beach. Rob, the property manager, was great to work with and very responsive to any questions. I highly recommend this property and would stay here again!

The place was well kept and communication with the owner was great. Close to a couple great beaches and enjoyed the access to the Mauna Lani Beach Club. It was fun for the whole family and Robert had great recommendations during our visit and my favourite was a night swim with the Manta Rays! Also the location was walking distance to grocery store and the shops at Mauna Lani. Highly recommend this place for families and feel that there was something for everyone!

Aloha WOW! What a wonderful home away from home it was for three couples from February 24 - March 3rd. It started with a heartwarming welcome from Robert, whose prompt communication with us continued throughout our visit - and after! Hula Hula Hale had all the amenities - big spacious bedrooms and washrooms, completely stocked kitchen, magnificent lanai - which doubled as another cooking/eating area. We ate all our meals outside! The location was perfect for wonderful walks to the beach and restaurants. Foodland was a 5 minute walk away, so getting groceries was a breeze. Next time we will be sure to purchase a cooler bag to carry our groceries - and then use it as a picnic cooler for lunch on the beach. Having a car was useful to explore other parts of the island - we may consider a golf cart rental next time. If your plan is to just stay within the Mauna Lani Community, then the golf cart would be all you need. The community was larger than we anticipated - lots to see and explore there alone. We also went through Tours by Locals and had Shawn tour us all around the island for a day - that was most informative and a great way to learn more about Hawaii. Coming "home" at the end of the day felt so natural and welcoming. Look no further friends - this VRBO home is your home away from home you have been searching for! Maholo Robert, Jamie and family - for sharing your special space with others!

We came to the big island to celebrate our son’s high school graduation. There were three high school seniors and four adults. The home was perfect for all of us and the amenities were abundant. The communication with the host was prompt and very informative. Our plane kept getting delayed on our departure day and the host went above and beyond to accommodate us. I highly recommend this property and feel fortunate we were able to stay there.

This large, immaculate townhouse is the ideal location for a relaxing vacation on the Big Island. The townhouse is so well equipped - great kitchen appliances and utensils, and also beach toys, chairs, and boogie boards. The beds are very comfortable and the whole place has a welcoming feeling. The location is perfect - walk or short golf cart ride to the shops, the beaches, or the 2 resorts within the Mauna Lani property. Robert was very responsive as a host and check in was a breeze. We can't wait to come back for another visit soon!

Perfect vacation at a perfect property in a great location. I travel with two other couples (Seniors) and this place has been voted our best stay in the last ten years.

Robert's place is honestly the best VRBO I have ever rented. Aside from the fact its very spacious and beautiful (and has very comfortable beds) , he has made sure that the house is completely stocked with everything you could possibly need. Multiple coffee makers, an air fryer, laundry detergent, etc. He responds very quickly with any questions you may have. We have a group of three couples that we travel with every year. This is the best place we have ever stayed.
Side note; rent the golf cart, you will definitely use it!

"Perfect" accurately describes this property. It served us as a base of operations to go do all the things we wanted to do on the Big Island.
It is clean and very comfortable in all respects. It is well furnished and beautifully decorated. It is in a gated community.
Breakfasts on the lanai were a great way to start the day.
Robert was available and very helpful with suggestions and assistance checking in. It is stocked with everything you will need, including beach chairs, beach towels and snorkeling gear. If we forgot anything, it seems as if the owners thought of it and it was there at the property. Wonderful poke just steps away at the local market. We loved it. The place made our family vacation that much more relaxing and one we will cherish forever. Mahalo Robert and Jamiee.

Our family of 5, my husband myself and our three children (ages 27, 19, and 16) were in awe as we saw the property! When we walked in it was even better! Robert and Jaimee have thought of every detail, even things that we didn’t know we needed. Everything was immaculately clean, and we felt the aloha vibe as soon as we walked in. Robert also emailed us with information we needed about 2 weeks before our trip. I’m a planner so this was nice to have ahead of time. So many places within walking distance. Our kids said this was one of the best vacations yet! We are looking forward to making this place our go to when we visit the Big Island again! Aloha!

This was our first trip to the Big Island. This home was a great place for us to relax and enjoy the Hawaiian life style.
10.0 / 10.0
I stayed here with family to celebrate my Dad's 80th. Robert's communication was excellent and provided us with valuable recommendations for local restaurants and sight seeing. The home provided ample space for 5 of us each with our own bathroom. The kitchen was well stocked for pretty much anything. We were able to walk to the local grocery store, shops, and down to the shore.
My only gripe was that the bathrooms located in the lower portion of the home had dim lighting making it difficult to use the mirror effectively for getting ready for dinner out.
There was a 6 seater EV golf cart that would have been useful for a day or two however the rental rate was a lot more costly than our car rental. It would have been nice to have been offered a discounted rate as it sat there unused but we got by just fine with one vehicle as parking at the Beach Club was never an issue.
Thanks for being a great host, Robert!

We spent a wonderful week at this beautiful home and loved everything about the home and the area. As a multi generation group - my mom who is 79, my husband, sister and myself in our 40s and our two teenage daughters, this house seemed made for us. We all had our own space but could come together in the great room/kitchen area and lanai to hang out as a family. We love to cook and the kitchen is superbly equipped for that. We also took full advantage of the grill on the lanai. We also like to have the opportunity to eat out and this location offers this as well. Best of both worlds! The beds and linens are the best of any VRBO we’vestayed in.
3 of us are golfers. They were in heaven with so many world class courses nearby. 3 of us are beach bums. We loved the access to the beach club and black sand beach. The house has all the beach chairs, towels and umbrellas you need. Plus floats and snorkel gear. We found a SCUBA operator that picked up at a boat ramp just north so we didn’t have to drive back to Kona to dive. Highly recommend them. Blue Wilderness. We rented a golf cart for the week and I highly recommend it. It’s great for going to the beach club, grocery store and local restaurants. If you are on the fence about choosing this property, jump off. It’s great. You won’t regret it. But, if you want an ocean view this location is not for you. We did not need that here and it was not advertised as such. The lush landscaping and fragrant plumeria trees are vintage Hawaii.

I stayed in a few VRBO properties. This one was the best by far! The house was in outstanding condition. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. The location was prefect to serve as our base for exploring the island. I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed a week here with daughter and teen grandchildren. This lovely home is spacious with a gorgeous and very functional kitchen. The teens could walk a short distance to Maina Lani Shops for snacks. Beach fun was so easy because the owner stocks a wonderful assortment of boogie boards, beach chairs, and picnic coolers. We've come to this area annually for several years and this was absolutely the best home we've stayed in. The owner was amazing in his quick response to questions about check in and his binder of information about using the house facilities answered every question. Best Hawaii trip ever!

The home was well appointed throughout, and we found the kitchen well stocked beyond essentials and incredibly functional, opening to a very comfortable sofa and living. We received very useful communications from the owner ahead of our trip, and recommendations were spot on! Overall an amazing experience on the island.
4.0 / 10.0
The property was pretty accurately described as advertised.
However the VRBO description that the owner holds any position to apply for any golfing discounts in behalf of rental guests, at Mauna Lani North/South Courses is misleading, come to find out thru prior arrival conversations with owner, the HOA for Mauna Lani , no longer allows home owner's to share this particular HO amenity. Unless home owner is part of the twosome/foursome playing. Big disappointment, since it states in house description it is possible. Even though we were prepared to pay full course prices.
Some of the snorkeling equipment failed but my husband was able to take parts from one set and use on another. This resulted in only one person at a time use.
There was six adults.
We all certainly had a great time staying in this lovely home. The bedrooms allowed three couples to have their own bedroom suites. Linens were comfortable, definitely not disappointing.
Many bbqs! Quiet local, backyard message worthy. Easy access to pool and fitness. Easy grocery shopping local.
Easy local to great restaurants.
Would stay here again. Will gladly refer other's looking for rental properties.
Thank you , Robert for making the six of us welcomed to your island home.

This was what we all said whenever we needed something for the beach or to cook. The house is spacious and fully stocked for a terrific vacation. All the details are accounted for including music, lighting etc. The bedrooms are huge, beds comfortable and lots of beach stuff for a large family. The location is great for grabbing groceries and walking to the resorts. Highly recommend the hula hula hale and we will be back

The location was great close to beautiful beaches, the Market, pool, and Tommy Bahamas restaurant made it easy to walk or use the golf cart.
The house was wonderful It was spacious, clean and was well stocked in the kitchen and the garage with all the items we need to enjoy the beach and pool. The home was in a quiet gated home community. Our family made wonderful memories of an e-bike ride in the Volcano National Park, a Luau on New Year’s Eve and Catamaran snorkeling trip where we saw whales breaching and dolphins.

Fantastic Memories Made Here!
Beautiful home with everything we could possibly need for our stay on the Big Island! From beach towels, snorkel gear to cooking supplies, we wanted for nothing! Large enough for our family of 5 (including 3 teenagers) and my elderly parents. My parents used the upstairs master bedroom, so only had to negotiate the stairs when we leaving to do something, but otherwise they had access to all they needed on one level. The homeowner was great to work with, and gave us useful tips and recommendations. We made wonderful memories and can't wait to go back!

Fantastic Mauna Lani Home
This is a perfect home for a base for vacation adventures. We stayed with our adult children and their spouses, 3 adult couples. It was perfect for our needs. It would also be great for a family with kids as well. The kitchen was the best and most appointed with all the tools you needed for cooking if you choose to do that. We had three people who love to cook and they were amazed at all the tools available. The garage was stocked full of everything you need for a beach day. Even for those who needed to do a little work, the office rea and computer is perfect. The owner is very supportive during check in and responded very quickly. This is a great rental in Mauna Lani. I highly recommend it! Thank you!

Wonderful stay in this property
We had an awesome time in this property with five adults distributed across the three bedrooms. The house is wonderfully decorated and fully equipped. Beach chairs, beach towels, snorkeling gear, all there. The kitchen is super complete with all you need to prepare meals. No need to buy additional spices. Pots, pans, etc, all there in many different sizes. The covered balcony was awesome to have breakfast on or reading when we were not on the beach or around with the rental car. Mauna Lani as an area is great and in our opinion the area with the best weather pattern on Big Island. Over the last 12 years, we really enjoyed the snorkeling at the private beach this property gives you access to. The private beach itself is great with a restaurant and facilities. A great area and an even better property made this stay memorable. We certainly will try to book this property for future stays on Big Island again
