At Lazy River Cottage, enjoy a 32' long covered sitting porch facing Little River, complete with a 5’ porch swing and 4 of your favorite rocking chairs. Lazy River Cottage has three bedrooms and a sleeping loft. There are two large master bedrooms, both with king beds, private master bathrooms, and a wall of windows with beautiful river views, one on each floor. There is a third bedroom upstairs with a queen bed and semi-private bathroom that is shared with a large sleeping loft. The sleeping loft sleeps four with two twin beds, each with trundles. See the bedroom and bathroom floorplan layouts at our website www.littlerivervacay.com. Downstairs is "wheelchair friendly", not ADA compliant, with 36" doorways, a ramp from the parking area, and a walk-in oversized shower in the master bedroom on the main floor. The first floor also includes a half bath, a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, multi-cup coffee maker, microwave, island that seats two , dining area that accommodates eight, gas fireplace, and washer and dryer. The fire pit area includes adirondack chairs for enjoying the nights by the river. There is a sitting area by the water with a floating dock perfect for fishing, swimming, or kayaking.
Lazy River Cottage accommodates a maximum of 10 occupants. Each accompanying child is considered a traveler.

Parking for vehicles is on-site. Four Kayaks will be available on property for guest use and require a signed waiver at booking. Additional kayaks and canoes can be rented just steps away at Desoto Falls State Park.
Lazy River Cottage is three miles from the historic town center of Mentone Alabama where restaurants, shopping, banking, and service stations are located. The property is approximately 20 miles from The Little River National Preserve and VIsitors Center administered by the National Park Service. Desoto State Park Lodge and Restaurant is a four-mile drive. We are about a 2 1/2 hour drive from Atlanta, GA, Birmingham, AL, or Nashville TN, a1 1/2 hour drive from Huntsville, AL, and 45 minutes from Chattanooga, TN.

The house was very spacious and easily accommodated our family group of 5. Everyone had their own bathroom and private bedroom with a queen or king sized bed. The washer/dryer were very useful. Perfect spot for relaxation and family time. House, amenities, and recreational activities exactly as described. Our family ages 3 to 68 enjoyed every minute of our 4 day vacation. From hiking, to swimming, to kayaking, to fishing, to eating, to sitting by the fire pit and enjoying s’mores, to just plain ole relaxing on the deck- we all had a wonderful relaxing but busy long weekend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lazy River Cottage! It is a beautiful cabin stocked with everything you need. And it really is just steps away from DeSoto Falls - we walked there a few times during our stay! The kitchen is a tad small, but all the other rooms are very spacious and well furnished. We really enjoyed swimming and kayaking in the river, and making smores around the fire pit. Stephanie was very kind to check in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend this vacation rental. My family is already asking when we can go back! :)

We came to town for a wedding in Rising Fawn GA and stayed at the lazy river cottage. It was perfect. Beds were comfy and house was impeccable. Whenever I had any questions, the owner was fast to respond. Overall would give this a 5 star review. Beautiful home with plenty of small town charm.

We could not have chosen a better location and home for our women's retreat. We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, being on the water. The fire pit was wonderful and we walked to the falls. Simply perfect!

The cottage was perfect for our family…all 10 of us. Rooms were roomy, plenty of sitting room as we ate and played games together. And the lake… access to it for canoeing and kayaking, fishing, and just looking at; was wonderful. We enjoyed sitting around the fire pit playing guitars and singing. A great place for celebrating Kenneth’s 75th birthday! We all agreed that we will be back!

We rented Lazy River Cottage to celebrate my 30th birthday with friends and family & it was the perfect place! The view off the back porch was one of our favorite things about the property. We will definitely be back!

I can't say enough about this beautiful home. It was incredibly spacious with the most comfortable furnishings. There were 4 of us for a Girl's Getaway but this home will easily accommodate several families! There is a large gathering table for meals and the most comfortable living area for late night conversations by the fire! Each bedroom had a super nice bathroom attached. Very nice and plentiful linens and amenities. We took full advantage of the firepit with the cold weather. The view of the river out the large window area was just gorgeous. The location is so convenient to everything, with Desoto Falls just steps down the road. The owner was unusually attentive and provided all the check in information that was needed, even checking in with us during our stay to make sure we had all that was needed. Only one of our group ventured out in the kayak (with the rest of us watching from the dock!) but she had a wonderful time! We can't wait to return to this lovely home!!!

Our family came from California, Texas, and Alabama to spend Christmas together for the first time in many years! This property was beautiful and perfect for all 7 of us! The house was beautifully decorated for Christmas and perfectly clean. The large living room with sectional couch, porches on the front and back, large dining table, and fire pit all were lovely areas for our family to gather.

We were so happy with our visit in 2022 we couldn’t wait to come back this year. So clean and comfortable with every amenity you could need. We especially enjoy the view of the river from the porch for our morning coffee, followed by kayaking. Stephanie is a terrific host who responds quickly to any questions you may have. This was our 2nd time staying here and we weren't disappointed. House is clean and has a good layout as well as all the kitchen supplies and linens you might need. We cooked each day for 9 people with no issues. Access to the creek is why we come. The 4 provided kayaks are a huge bonus. We enjoyed walking down to the falls to play in the sandy area, as well as the longer hike to the bottom of the falls to swim directly underneath them. Kids love it and so do the adults! Will likely come back next year! We highly recommend this place.

Outstanding 3 night stay. Many amenities in a beautiful setting a few minutes walk from the falls The house is relatively new, clean and fresh and which means a lot to us. The furniture and decor are also nice. Small point that might be a bigger point for others - not a fan of the two dead deer heads on the walls of the vaulted family room. Overall, highly recommend!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! This house had everything that we needed, including kayaks to play in the river. The bedrooms were plenty large enough for our pack and play, and blackout curtains in the master are a plus. We do this trip annually and plan to stay here again next year.

Everything about the cottage was exactly as pictured. It is very organized and spotlessly clean with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The rooms were spacious, and the beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed kayaking from the back yard and walking or biking from the house to the waterfalls and hiking trails. It was so nice to not need a car. We would definitely stay here again!

Lazy River Cottage did not disappoint. Exceptionally clean and roomy for our family. The location and amenities were everything we were expecting and more. Stephanie does a great job with communicating details. We all enjoyed the slow mornings of drinking coffee on the back porch overlooking the beautiful Lazy River.

We had a great family vacation and loved the cabin. The beds were extremely comfortable and the cabin is beautiful. We loved having access to kayaks, it’s the main reason we booked the cabin. We really enjoyed taking them out. The best part of the cabin is the location. Desoto Falls is just a short walk down the road. We went down to the falls every day of our trip. We highly recommend this property!!

We stayed here for an annual sisters getaway. The property was everything we hoped and more. This was a perfect spot for 5 sisters to enjoy for a long weekend and, as a bonus, we all fell in love with kayaking. We hope to stay here again next year.

Could not have ask for more of a perfect place. From sitting on the covered deck looking at the river to kayaking on the river and having s’mores at the firepit! To be that close to the river and have access getting in and out from the dock with ease was perfect. Could not have ask for more to make our family get away the best ever. The house was perfect because of the lay out, and we choose this property because of the number of bedrooms and bathrooms. Made everyone’s stay comfortable. Plenty of room when we were all downstairs and sitting around the huge table for meals or game night. Highly recommend Lazy River Cottage.

We stayed on the property with 9 people and it was the perfect amount of space. The beds were comfortable and worked well for our kids to use the trundles. The bathrooms were amazing! We loved that there were four, and they always had hot water.
The host was awesome and responded quickly to our needs and questions. She made sure to check in throughout our stay and communicated well. The check out list is very basic which was awesome!
We loved the kayaks and the location. The hike to DeSoto falls and cave were a must do. We used the cabin location as a center point and spent one day in Huntsville at the US Space & Rocket Center and one day around Chattanooga on Lookout Mountain.
Things to know:
The kitchen has all the pots and pans you need but no random spices. Plan to bring in all that you need although there is shopping just down the mountain. The Dollar General does have a lot of groceries and there are groceries stores in the town.
We stayed in mid-July and the fish weren't biting. We did end up catching one while kayaking up the river. You will need to take all your own fishing gear.

Wonderful stay!
We enjoyed this house, all new and very nice. The guys in our family loved the kayaks and fishing in the river, surprisingly they caught quite a few in catch and release. The Desoto Falls is a short walk from the cabin. And nearby restaurants had some tasty meals, we especially loved Wildflower Cafe. It was a great choice , every detail was thought of.

The grandkids loved fishing from the dock with their Pop-Pop and making s’mores at the fire pit. We wish we had booked for 1 more night. Great time!
