There's plenty of room for family and friends at 'Pappy's Hideaway'; a rustic 5-bedroom, 4.5-bath vacation chalet that accommodates up to 16 people. Situated on the edge of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, this property is the perfect spot for exploring Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge. The home has two decks, one is screened-in with dining areas, custom-made rockers, private hot tub, and seasonal views of Mt. LeConte. This classic chalet in a quiet wooded area is a great getaway for your great Smokies escape!
Start your morning at Pappy's Hideaway with coffee on the screened deck, enjoying the nature all around you. Move on to breakfast in the well-equipped kitchen and gather the gang around the tables on the screened deck to chow down. If the temps make you prefer to eat inside, then you'll enjoy a large picture windows that frame a forest view or Mt. Leconte across the valley, depending on the season.
Both floors have these large windows to help ensure that you’ll never miss out on the surrounding scenery, including seasonal views of the mountaintops! Close out your day of Smoky Mountain fun with a show on the flat-screen cable TV in the living area, downstairs in the rec room, or in each bedroom. Both large living spaces offer comfortable couches and wood-burning fireplaces (season is Oct 1 - Mar 31).
If you haven’t had your fill of the great outdoors for the day, head onto one of the decks in the late afternoon to catch the fog tendrils rolling in over the mountains. Unwind with a relaxing soak in the private 5-person hot tub on the lower deck.
If you have to get some work or schooling done, we have high-speed 100mbps Internet service from Charter Spectrum. The home is also equipped with the latest technology in mesh WiFi networks, allowing many devices to simultaneously access the Internet without interference.
Prepare your meals in the well-equipped kitchen, decked out with tumbled stone countertops, upgraded appliances and lots of pantry storage. Host a family dinner around the table set for 8+, or dine with a view on the upper screened-in deck with two outdoor tables. The kitchen is well equipped with slow cooker, modern appliances, mixer, blender, dinnerware, stock pot, flatware, glasses, mugs, and everything needed for preparing a meal for a large group.
Wind down for the night with a movie from under the covers, as all 5 bedrooms have HDTVs w/cable. Three of the 5 rooms also offer beautifully hand-hewn log bed frames - fitting for your alpine adventure!

** Your Well-Being is Important to Us **
Our housekeeping partner has always had a strict cleaning regimen that is performed after every guest stay. In light of recent events, we have worked with them and updated it to include additional processes and procedures to increase protections for both our guests and our housekeeping team members.
The high points of our cleaning process include the following:
Hot Tub: Drained, cleaned, and refilled after every guest; fresh Bromine added.
Linens: laundered and processed in temperatures that exceed those recommended for laundry operations; disinfectant added if appropriate; dried at temperatures needed for sanitization; and, packaged until put out for guests.
Cabin:
- Anti-microbial and disinfectants are used upon arrival, given time to work while staff perform other tasks, then used again as appropriate during the cleaning process.
- Micro-Ban™ is applied throughout the cabin on all hard surfaces (counters, floors, stair rails, cabinets, etc.) and on compatible soft surfaces (furniture, beds, pillows, carpets, comforters, etc.).
- Lysol™ is used on all compatible surfaces to clean and disinfect.
- Bleach-based cleaners are used in some areas, such as bathrooms and kitchens, that are better served by, and can tolerate, chlorine products.
- The cabin is routinely inspected after cleaning by the company's inspection team. Besides quality assurance tasks, these specialists also perform additional applications of protective products in the home, such as MicroBan and Lysol, as needed.
On-Site Staff: Housekeeping staff and inspectors have been fully trained in the proper methods of cleaning and preparing our home for our guests. They are furnished with protective gloves and instructed to wear them at all times; changing them for fresh pairs as needed during preparation of the home.
All Housekeeping and inspection staff have been instructed to immediately report anything that may lead them to believe that there is/was any kind of health issue in the cabin, with themselves, or with other staff.
IMPORTANT: Not all surfaces are safe for use with all sanitizers. DO NOT APPLY sanitization products without being 100% sure they will not harm surfaces. We have already had a dining table as well as door clocks and handles damaged by guests who applied their own sanitizers that ruined the finishes.
Guest access
We use a self-check-in process that is very convenient and allows guests to head straight to the cabin; no need to visit an office to get or drop-off keys.
A smart lock door code will be sent at least 24 hours before arrival time.
Other things to note
With over 3,000 square feet, there is plenty of room to host your family or group of friends. The 5 bedrooms, including one furnished with 3 set of bunk beds for the young ones, means that everyone will be comfortable and enjoy their stay here at Pappy's Hideaway!
The two fireplaces, one on each floor, will create a cozy environment during the cold months. As the temps warm, the two decks are a great place to just sit in one of the handmade rockers and enjoy the nature around you. Due to frequent theft, we no longer provide firewood. It is readily available at stores throughout the region.
Very close proximity to downtown Gatlinburg means it is mere minutes from the front door of the chalet to the front door of your destination.

Our stay was amazing. If you lo e nature and wildlife this is a perfect place. Seeing a bear was on our bucket list every time we come to Tennessee. This time not only did we see one we seen several!! 3-4 times a day we would see bears. It was absolutely amazing! Cabin was as described. The kids room was much bigger than it seemed in pictures. The fenced in deck was perfect for sitting outside at night also plenty of room to have lunch or supper out there. We enjoyed our stay and definitely will come back to stay here. We had 16 people and we had more than enough room a d accommodations

We had plumbing problems and a bathroom unusable all week. There was only a bit of salt there but the ad stated spices and such were included.
Skillets need to be replaced as they are totally scratched and stick terribly, and could be a bit larger. With a lot of people staying there making food is very hard with such little pans and pots. The garbage did not run on Tuesday. We were very excited with multiple bear viewings!

The house was good no complaints about the house. It could use more oven mitts and measuring cups.

Second year doing a destination Thanksgiving in Gatlinburg. Cabin was wonderful, we really enjoyed our stay. We saw bears everyday right from the cabin, one was right at the front door one evening. One tried getting into vehicles so definitely keep cars locked. Our group was 14 (11 adults and 3 under 3) and we had plenty of room and sleeping arrangements.

Overall experience was great!! Plenty of room for all 9 friends. Hot tub was excellent and we loved the large kitchen and plenty of bathrooms. A suggestion, owners might want to go behind the cleaning crew a few times to make sure they are doing all things they are suppose to. We would definitely stay again and appreciate the owners lending us their rental property for a few days

The property was as advertised and the rental process was a breeze. The owners were very easy to communicate with and when we had problems with the hot tub not working when we got there they were super responsive (had a guy there on the same day - Christmas Eve) to look at it.
The house needed some upkeep, there were holes in one of the doors down stairs, some broken tile by the fireplace, crack in the ceiling in the laundry room, hole in upstairs closet wall, and several faucets were loose. I am inclined to believe that this is largely due to the owners not having knowledge of the issues due to the experience I had with them when we had the hot tub problem.
Overall the house worked out great for the 14 of us that were there. Lots of room (we were never on top of each other), super convienient to town and attractions, and a great view. We saw bear tracks just up the street from the cabin too.
I will also say it had one thing we didnt even think of until we saw the other properties around it ... parking. We were able to confortably fit a 4-runner and 2 trucks in the driveway. All in all it was a wonderful time with the family, and the cabin was a perfect place to enjoy that time together.

GREAT property!
The home easily accommodated 12 of us and we couldn’t have been more pleased. There was a winter storm that hit and blessed us with 8” that put us without power and the owner checked on us multiple times. HIGHLY recommend!!!
